Tomlin says Pickins will play against the Bengals

He allowed AB to stay off campus at training camp, I think alot of AB's stuff was kept under lid because for the most part we were winning then. I mean look what happened the few times Ben wasn't in there, AB was bitching about not getting the ball enough after a win vs Arizona.
oh, jesus christ. a WR - arguably the top WR in the game, at that time - complaining about not getting the ball? oh, heavens, no.

after a win, my point is if he didn't have Ben at QB, and Landry Jones was our full time starter, AB would've been throwing a big time fit and acting like Pickens.

I chose to "look at it" in terms of the football team; you chose to look at it in terms of a macrocosm of the total society. Is this board named: "The Steelers and today's modern society?" I don't know, I just went nuts and looked on a microcosm-level of just the team. [shrugs shoulders] And you did me the favor of taking my analogy to a racist level. Thanks, how did you know that is what I was picturing in my head? That's some real skill you got there. I couldn't have been thinking of a child acting up in a store of any race; you made sure to make it only apply to a black mother. Kudos. You created a racist scenario when there wasn't any. You knew I was being racial when I didn't even realize it myself. How very skilled.
Racist??? Please. I gave you a fact. I'm a black man and parent. As I said, you made the first comment that George's mom let him throw hissy fits as a child. I countered - neither comment, in my mind, was racist; but throw that card - I've seen it here before...

Wait, I simply commented on Pickens mom probably the kind of mom who gave in and bought him the candy/toy at the store to stop his crying - not a THING mentioned about her race. YOU then brought up she was a "black mom." I never even mentioned it. And now your blaming others for bringing race into it? Not gonna happen, try race baiting with someone else, not me. I don't care if you're purple; fake race baiting doesn't cut it with me.

He benched Chuks for something that was said. He does discipline the less talented guys.
Yeah when theyre carried longer than they should, in an inflated contract in their last year, can't do the job they're paid to do, and there's a number one draft pick sitting and waiting to play.

That screamed as an excuse; he had a 1st round draft pick just sitting there and he wanted to get him some game time experience. So it was convenient to blame Chuks mouth as the reason why. Just more Shades bull sh-- coming at you.

What race is George? His mom?

Conversation over.

See I understood your comment to be assuming of a stereotype. Greg Lloyd suggested Picken's mom gave into his hissy fits. Then you said, ⬇️...
This made me chuckle. Especially how you assume George's mom (a black mother) would fold to him throwing a public hissy fit as a child - BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!
...which made me think that you found it funny because you don't think black mothers give in to hissy fits. If that is what you meant, that is stereotyping. If I didn't understand your post correctly and interpreted your message wrong, well, that's on me and I apologize and I'll step back and just read the thread. Btw, I think Pickens needs to ride pine for his lack of effort. These players need to learn. Go all out or get out.

Not sure how many chances Pickens should get, or if benching him would change his attitude or not.
And it may not even be his attitude but his apparent lack of effort. Immaturity on his part to be sure, but he's young and maybe all the media
attention he's getting will cause him to pause and think. He does have the physical ability to be great, he just needs to focus on the mental aspect and
decide if he wants to be great.

Listen, many of the 'on the field antics' are to be blamed, outside of football, by SOCIETY and what WE'VE allowed these kids to be and do. Fact.

No team is perfect - neither are the owners, FOs, coaches, staff and players. NOT ONE. Has this organization been spoiled w/ winning??? ABSOPHUCKINLUTELY...Are we tired of mediocrity and ready to get back to the winning ways of yester years??? Read my newly coined word in the last sentence.

AB was here for nine years and his chyt was, for the most part, kept in the privacy of the locker room. Do you honestly think that DJ and George didn't see this team implode in a few years back??? How about the outright gaudiness of "The Young Money Crew"???

I could go on and on about the root cause of the problem; but the fact is simple - we have entitled these kids from birth ("hey don't talk to my kid/don't discipline my kid") and they turn into MONSTERS by college...

Yeah, this is ALL Coach Tomlin's fault.
If Tomlin is not accountable for the product on the field, and the results of the team, who in the Steeler org actually is accountable?

That's been the blueprint for along time, attack the middle, see Bostic trying to cover Keenan Allen, Timmons trying to cover Welker or Hogan etc.
I still have flashbacks to Larry Foote losing Ray Rice, repeatedly.....

A wise WR once said "...hard work beats talent that doesn't work hard...." or something like that.

Until Pickens, the young man himself, understands this and holds himself accountable for his efforts, he will be judged as under-performing.

Whether or not someone from his family, the Steelers, the media, or whatever can influence his personal maturity and accountability is unknown to us both in terms of how and when.

Fortunately, Pickens has a great opportunity for personal growth as a football player, teammate and young man, made all that much clearer by recent events. I hope he is able to learn, internalize and use this period as a launching pad to future betterment.

We can ***** about AB the person all we want, he's a douchebag. But AB the player busted his *** and was well on his way to smashing all of the receiving records before his cheese went off the cracker.

The man was elite. I wish the person had matched the player.

Cowher said in a recent interview (just memory) “ It’s lonely at the top. My #1 priority was winning, you can’t favor friends. You go with what will win and that includes players and coaches, not friends.“

Can you define accountable because for the last 17 years it’s defined as .500 or above, but verbally “never a losing season”

Benching George and lowering the odds of victory would be cutting off you're nose to spite you're face. The only way this locker room has a chance in hell of improving this year is with a win. Benching him and losing a close game would really implode the whole thing.
His job is to win a superbowl, no way in hell this team wins another superbowl with the current players or coaches. The rest of the season has zero to do with winning a superbowl. This team could not be further from a championship team.
Personally I'd rather lose out and draft a QB at #10, but from a coaching perspective Tomlin made the right call for him and the team as far a rest of season.
That is the problem that Tomlin has done throughout his career. Letting certain players get away with bullshit. I honestly thought he turned the corner after moving on from AB and Bell. Nope. He is now enabling other players but expects different end results.

If Pickens pulls any antic in this game (taking plays off, taunting someone, etc.), I'd sit him for the rest of the year without pay. I'd let him know that going into the game and see if he can control himself. My guess is he would still screw up.
