Trubisky!

Meh tell them “AX” is proper yinzer terminology anyhow… you weren’t being racist, just putting a Pittsburgh accent on it lol “ax about warshing your landry dawn by the slippy crickbed”

Wait is Pittsburghese racist?
Is Pittsburgher a race?
Is cityism a thing?

Ax is a common ebonics term. Never heard of it being Pittsburghese?

I lived those years too. Part of my enthusiasm is relief that we didn't reach for a QB in the draft that likely isn't there or overpay in a trade for a high priced QB that really wouldn't help us because there's so many other holes that would go unaddressed. I do think Trubinsky has a chance to be a 2nd tier QB though.
I'm not going into this season with any illusions of this team competing at the level it takes to do anything more than this past year. If we get a solid #2 out of this then I'm happy and it was worth it. I am looking forward to every game with Mason or with Mitch just not expecting much. We still have Canada as OC and Tomlin as HC.

today would be a good day for a Stryker show or a Q&A, to vent some opinions on the team is doing the 1st day of FA

I don't think there is a better possible scenario than this, and see it as a stopgap measure for the team.
Now they don't have to overreach in the draft, build both lines and keep the no losing season streak alive.

So the Steelers have a former #15 and a former #2 in the QB room…behind Mason Rudolph.
Trubisky will only be behind Rudolph for as long as it takes him to sign his contract, pick out a locker and get the playbook. They might say otherwise, but barring injury, the only way Trubisky is not QB1 come kickoff of the NFL season is if he brain farts all offseason.

So here is the bet I made today after they Signed Trubisky. I said to my 49ers coach buddy that my preference was Garapolo but when I found out his arm was ****** till July hard pass and preference was Trubisky. He kind of laughed at that. So I said OK. I will take Trubisky and the Steelers for $50 to get more wins then the 49ers with young Lance Romance at the controls. I think it's an even and great bet. Both Qs must play minimum of 14 games to count.

Do they have a Canada and a Tomlin?

No but I wasn't betting on a playoff run or a SB here. Tomlin wins regular season games. Statistically with this move I'd set over under on wins at 9 and I'd be tempted to take over. So that puts the 9ers with a raw qb at 10 or more. It's a good bet.

This is a great deal for both sides. Steelers get a cheap starter with upside, Trubisky is smart too. I bet he could have gotten more elsewhere but the Steelers were the best QB job this year. The position is wide open and the team is good. There are already good weapons and all they need is a couple decent free agents and draft picks and the OL will be good enough.

Also, Canada’s offense, or at least what it’s reported to be, is a perfect fit with Trubisky’s skill set.

Ryan Leaf didn't make it 3 full years in the league and was an alcoholic. I'm glad he got in control of his demons after football.
He didn’t, just got worse and enjoyed some time in the clink.

I'm not pimping him at all. All I want is to see the kid get a real chance with the 1's. Against the 1's.

Big difference than pimping him...
So, is that a no on the bet?

Glad we didn’t give up a pick for Jimmy. Jimmy = Trubisky IMO. Cheaper and we don’t have to give up any picks.
Jimmy does not equal Trubisky. Jimmy is a statue with 192 career rushing yards (on 142 attempts) in 63 games. Trubisky is mobile, with nearly 1100 yards career rushing yards averaging more than 5 yards per attempt. They are not similar players.

I do agree that the Steelers dodged a huge bullet by avoiding Garoppolo. Thank God for small favors.

I don’t think he was signed to ”start” as much to insure he’d have a starter in case the youngsters stink it up. I think we’ll draft a qb and trubisky will fight it out with the two on the roster right now the loser getting cut, the rookie getting the third spot… reminds me of signing Mikey tomzck same situation
Mason Rudolph isn't a "youngster" anymore; he's 26 -- a year younger than Mitch. Trubisky was signed to start...he won't have to fight **** out with anybody.

What will Mitch do without having an Allen Robinson to throw the ball up to? Robinson has made several QBs look better than they actually are.
A more pertinent question might be: How did Allen Robinson do this past season without having Trubisky throwing the ball up to him?

I'll go ahead and tell you: 38 catches for 410 yards and 1 touchdown in 12 games. Amazing. Which QB did he make look better?

Ask a Bear's fan what they think of Trubisky. Sure, the team (e.g. the defense) won games, but it was not because of him. He has an awful Y/A, and rarely challenges teams deep. I think almost every pundit considered him to be a bridge QB anywhere he landed.
So...he'll fit into Canada's offense perfectly! :peace:

BTW, Ben had a 6.2 YPA last year, which is a half yard less than Trubisky's career mark. Talk about awful.

No, just a former #15.

You guys who think that there is going to be a true open competition for the starting job are amusing.

Great value signing for a bridge QB.

If Bizkit lights it up this year, He will get a redone contract or a trade. If he sucks, Steelers go 4-13 and we get the qb next draft.

Just watched this. It's a Robinson/Graham highlight reel. for the #2 pick in the draft, Trubisky's passes have no zip. Most of the passes to Robinson should have not been catchable.

What I do like is the touch on his passes on the move and boot. And his ability to break the pocket with his legs. Those are all plus athlete plays, but compared to Ben, he does not have his arm strength and it isn't close.
I really don't understand what you're (not) seeing in that video when it comes to zip on his passes. Yeah, Robinson made some good grabs, but there's nothing lacking as far as Trubisky's arm strength. It's never been an issue for him, and judging by those highlights, nothing has changed. Unless you think it's easy to throw a football 60 yards after rolling out to your weak side, having to reset your feet, and releasing the ball with a defender in your face.

With Trubisky or Rudolph, we are looking at a 7-10 team.
