Donald Trump Secures Vast Majority of Unbound Delegates in Pennsylvania

Donald Trump has won a vast majority of the unbound delegate count in the state of Pennsylvania, according to an ABC News analysis.

Of the 54 available free-agent delegates in the state, 39 of them told ABC News they will support Trump on the first ballot of the Republican convention.

Eye-popping stat shows the extent of Donald Trump’s domination

Donald Trump swept through all five Northeastern and mid-Atlantic voting states on Tuesday, in a show of dominance unprecedented in his campaign for president.

He won every single county in play — 107 total among Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Delaware, Maryland, and Connecticut.

As a result, he won each of the 34 congressional districts in play.

The East-Coast romp led to Trump pick up at least 110 delegates — more than 93% of the total in play.

That total shattered even the rosiest projections of a successful night for Trump.

MSNBC's Steve Kornacki projected that Trump would need to win more than 100 bound delegates across the five states and about 34 of the 54 "unbound" free-agent delegates available in Pennsylvania. After picking up 42 unbound delegates in the Keystone State, based on prior pledges from the candidates, he far exceeded expectations

Wealthy, educated voters fuel Trump's East Coast sweep

His sweep of Pennsylvania, Maryland, Delaware, Connecticut and Rhode Island on Tuesday included wins in some of the richest and best-educated counties in the country - like Fairfield County, Connecticut, and Newport County, Rhode Island - and added to victories in his more traditional strongholds of white working-class neighborhoods.

Exit polls from Connecticut, Pennsylvania and Maryland showed Trump winning about half of Republican voters with college degrees, and over half of Republican voters making more than $100,000 a year.

“On its face, it is hard to believe he’d be improving with a demographic group that has been so averse to his style, his denigrating language,” said Randall Miller, a professor of American politics at Saint Joseph’s University in Pennsylvania.

“But I think people may have gotten used to Trump, he’s not as outrageous as he used to be”

Democratic strategist Dave "Mudcat" Saunders believes Donald Trump will beat Hillary Clinton like a "baby seal," and that working class whites who haven't already left the Democratic Party for cultural reasons will due so now for economic ones.

The Democrat strategist is renowned for connecting politicians to “Bubbas” — white, working class Southerners.

“Working class whites in the South have already departed the Democratic Party for cultural reasons. Well the working class whites in the North are now deserting the Democrats because of economic reasons,” Mudcat told TheDC. He added, “this is the new age of economic populism, man. This is about survival for a lot of people.”

"I know a ton of Democrats - male, female, black and white - here [in southern Virginia] who are going to vote for Trump. It's all because of economic reasons. It's because of his populist message"
