My money is on Sessions.

His name isn't being mentioned

Trump family is torn and they don't really know Pence. Open to him, like him but not all sold. Don Jr., friends say, is for Newt.

I read that he met with Sessions and Newt after his AM visit with Pence yesterday.

He's got my vote. My major ***** with gov't is them not following the laws already on the books, especially immigration laws. Pence listed one of my pet peeves as part of his "platform" so to speak.

Immigration laws

In June 2006, Pence unveiled a plan he describes as "no amnesty immigration reform", consisting of increased border security, followed by strict enforcement of laws against hiring illegal aliens, and a guest worker program. This guest worker program requires potential participants to apply from their home country to government-approved job placement agencies that match workers with employers who cannot find Americans for the job

That's what I'm screamin'...if they can't get a job and can't get welfare, there's no reason to come here....or stay here for that matter.

Pence for VP
Christie for AG
Newt for Chief of Staff
Sessions for Dept Homeland Security
that general guy - Sec of Defense

everybody gets something, goes home happy

You forgot Carson for Surgeon General

Pence is a safe pick.

Christie and Gingrich will now become attack dogs and go after Clinton.

No announcement tomorrow per Trump's tweet:

In light of the horrible attack in Nice, France, I have postponed tomorrow's news conference concerning my Vice Presidential announcement.

"Trump will never be allowed to be the nominee"

I heard that 1000 times in this thread!

BAM!

hahahahahahaha

Never Trump Movement Fails Twice On Key RNC Votes

Donald Trump’s allies on the national GOP convention Rules Committee crushed a proposal Thursday aimed at dumping Trump from the top of the Republican ticket — and they sealed its fate further by passing an amendment to ensure his nomination.

The proposal affirms that delegates are unambiguously bound to the results of primaries and caucuses — meaning they can’t break with the will of voters and Dump Trump at the convention. It passed 87 to 12, and its passage was the first official sign that anti-Trump forces lack the votes to block Trump’s path to the nomination.

And I think that is the right thing to do. (Although it does make me wonder if he hasn't decided yet and is buying more time....)

I am pleased to announce that I have chosen Governor Mike Pence as my Vice Presidential running mate. News conference tomorrow at 11:00 A.M.

By the way, Pence is a Tea Party conservative, about as conservative as they come. That should silence some of the doubters. America first, vote Trump!

Not a big fan of the decision, but it's not changing the way I'm voting.

I worry it's not good enough to really help in November. And he needs help. It's going to be a close election.

I guess they felt that their BIGGEST vulnerability was with traditional conservatives particularly social conservatives which Pence has hung his career on. So this tells me that they don't see the Evangelical Coalition locked up yet and they need an emissary to those voters. With Pence's stance on women's rights, LGBT, etc, he's certainly not helping securing any of those votes. Hope they've made the right chess move here.

BTW - here's their new logo. Needless to say, the TP jokes are already flooding in (including some gifs).

I think that enough people don't like Christie and Newt as well. Trump is controversial enough....both Christie and Newt have enough baggage to fill the Atlanta airport's baggage claim. Trump HAD to go safe with Pence. No other choice. (Except Ben).

Oh, I agree. He's a better choice over Christie and Newt. Safe is a good way of putting it. Curious to see how Pence will spin his polar opposite views on immigration when it's been Trump's battle cry for the past year.

Good choice. Agree with others that the other two would make him less electable.

Waiting for more Coach handwringing

Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump tied going into conventions - CBS/NYT poll

Heading into the two parties' conventions, the race for President is a dead heat, a change from last month when Hillary Clinton led by six points.

Forty percent of registered voters now say they will back Clinton (a dip of three points), while 40 percent will vote for Trump (a bump up of three points). A month ago, Clinton led Trump 43 to 37 percent.

Sixty-seven percent of voters now say Clinton is not honest and trustworthy, up from 62 percent last month and the highest percentage this election cycle. Only 28 percent view her as honest.

This is funny...

NEW YORK (The Borowitz Report)—Governor Chris Christie, of New Jersey, angrily refused to pick up Donald Trump’s dry cleaning during a tense encounter between the two men on Friday, campaign sources confirm.

The ugly scene unfolded at the billionaire’s offices in midtown Manhattan, shortly after Trump revealed that his Vice-Presidential pick would be Governor Mike Pence of Indiana.

According to Trump aides, Christie stomped into the presumptive Republican nominee’s office and hurled a dry-cleaning ticket onto his desk, telling Trump, “You can pick up your own damn dry cleaning.”

The New Jersey governor then stormed out, and has not been seen by Trump or his staffers since.

Trump’s press secretary, Hope Hicks, warned the media against making too much of the apparent rift between the billionaire and Christie. “In the long hours of a campaign, emotions can sometimes get a little raw,” she said. “We are confident that Governor Christie will pick up Mr. Trump’s dry cleaning going forward.”

Reached later by reporters, Governor Christie issued a brief statement: “Get away from me. Just get away from me, you ********.”

More good info on Pence.

He is the perfect alter-ego for Donald Trump. Trump is bluster and showmanship and the classic New York street fighter and counter-puncher. It is what so many voters love about him: toughness.

Pence is the ultimate gentleman politician. He exudes Midwestern Hoosier values. Sincerity. Kindness. Honesty. Fair play. Say what you mean, and mean what you say.

All of the virtues, by the way, that Hillary Clinton lacks.

I'm loving this pick now. Leading up to it I wasn't excited because I see Pence on the news everyday locally. He's milk toast, unexciting. Yeah, he's been good for Indiana, no doubt, but he's not an earth shaker like Trump. But listening to him tonight on Hannity, under Trump's marching orders, the guy is nailing it.

Pence just said that on day 1 Trump would bring in his military advisors to plan how to crush ISIS immediately. He would do more in one day than Oterrorist has done in 8 years.
