Tuitt Retired

Good luck with your life's work; I hope that you are soon able to get around Tuitt.

they did draft Leal. Hopefully, he exceeds expectations and learns quickly. I would expect them to bring in an older vet to fill Tuitt's void for this year.
But Leal is still a mid-round pick and not expected to be a starter this year. They need 1st and 2nd round DL picks but have refused to do so.

$9M in cap savings....Steelers now with $21.4M of space with rookie pool to be sourced.

Well, Tuitt says screw it, and it may be just as well, if he came back and he wasn't committed.

Like others have said, it would have been nice to know this a few months ago, perhaps the Steeler FO did.

Oh so he retied. Looks like what Heyward and Tomlin said was wishful thinking. Thanks Tuitt for being a good player and your service to the Steelers. This frees up some cap space!

Tomlin should have know. So should have Heyward. Did they tell the team? Nope. I wish Tuitt good luck and thank him for the service. I've been thinking his absence from OTT's was no accident and we can use the cap space he occupied. (8+million)

yea, that's why I don't think they were expecting this. I could be wrong, but until today, there was hope he was going to return.
Agree. So many moving parts this off season, Ben, new GM, never before seen approach to FA's, etc. Tuitt flew under the radar of all this and I think they expected him to be in camp.

Eyes on Leal. The will be good competition for the end spot for him to start.

Saw this on Twitter....thought it was fitting.

"What a turd.

Seriously.

If you respected the fans or the organization you would have announced this at the end of last season or at least prior to free agency.

I hope you develop chronic hemorrhoids."

Makes me wonder if Tuitt’s absence from OTAs forced a “we need an answer” conversation the Steelers should have had several months ago.

As admirable as it seems, I think the Steelers keeping Tuitt was bad policy. Suppose it was a player that was about to become an obvious cap casualty due to their declining ability and increasing salary. If they suffered a similar tragedy, do you keep them on the roster in spite of the terrible business decision? No? Then you don’t do it for Tuitt either.

He got a free years salary then quit on the team. Glad he is gone. Bet there isn't a single person on this site that hasn't suffered a tragedy. But we all had to be adults and move on.
Apparently, he has moved on. Just not in a direction that we, as fans, appreciate. Some folks, when they suffer a tragedy, decide that they need to embrace family, a different career ... they need change. It appears that's what Tuitt did. He moved on, got his degree, embraced the family he has left ... and, in the process screwed the Steelers.

Geez, if even Floggy can figure this one out, the lack of action from The Deuce is even more disappointing.

I hope they planned for this but I don't really think they did. I definitely see someone being signed later during team cutdowns. They have to hope Alualu is back to where he was for another year and that the later round young guys they did draft make huge leaps and can be legit NFL starters and not gashed for 200+ yards.
They did...

See the Aggie linemen on roster....not to mention Lowdermilk last season to an extent..

BTW---Lowdermilk is going to make everyone forget about Tuitt this season.
