Tuitt Retired

I agree with the earlier post that Tuitt probably played because he could more so than he wanted to and this made him realize the sport wasn’t his best path. He was a good player for the team and seemed well liked by his teammates. I wish Tuitt the best with whatever is ahead.

I also think the team likes Wormley more than fans. Add in Alualu coming back andLoudermilk flashing potential, they potentially have some pieces moving forward.
Just not sure who can be the same caliber run defender at DE. Perhaps the assistant GM being a trenches guy will bring a vet in....

I'll be here next week reading a post about breaking news on the Steeler front, only to see the entire thread turn into yet another display of monkeys throwing poop at each other.
Uh, I’ve evolved from being a monkey, thank you…

I have never had someone I was that close to hit and killed in a hit and run with the driver never being caught. On the other hand I have seen a close friend lose a son in tragic car accident and totally withdraw from life for 8 years only now starting to live again. I have total sympathy for him and no ill will for him or the way the Steelers handled it. It is the way it should be handled.
Thanks for this post Lebanon. I am not sure why people get off calling him a *****, all sorts of other things, taking it as a personal affront.
Underneath the helmet these guys are human beings, just like the rest of us. All different, unique. The public’s expectations are insane. Hey, I get caught up in too.

As usual it boils down to money. Most of us just can’t relate.
Because of the $$$ The players can do what they want. And hey, we enable it. As long as , of course it’s for the team. Tuitt didn’t assault his wife, throw furniture out the window, beat on his dog. He lost a brother. After this he obviously thought football was not that important in his life. That is his prerogative. Of course because of the money involved he has that option. Most of us don’t. Let the guy be. Wish him well. Let’s have some class.
Some of the stuff I read on here lately belongs in the Stains Forum.

Sympathy has nothing to do with it. Most companies sympathize with employees who suffer a tragedy, they don’t offer year long bereavement leave. The Steelers good deed didn’t go unpunished. It was a bad policy decision.

Larry Ogunjobi? 27 y/o. Comparable size. Has been productive. Don’t know why he was cut after a 7 sack season.

Maybe they should if they can. I disagree on the Steelers good deed being punishment. It shows players and potential free agents they care more about players than they do money. It is one of the things that makes this team special is that the owners care. If they can afford it why shouldn't they take care of the player as a human first. Considering your political leanings I would have thought you would be all for this. Isn't this what companies that can afford it should do? In the long run the good will and loyalty it engenders could pay off more than the monetary cost. I think they knew and he waited until June 1st for the team.

Lolley and Williamson were talking about this today after the news broke. Many of the names left are crappy, injured, old or pigeon holed as straight nose tackles with little position flexibility. Larry, Suh and a few others made their list if they sign anyone. They felt 6 roster spots are already locks and a signing may not be imminent until they see what happens at camp. There will be cuts later to sign.

I’ll get flamed for this…..but no one, and I mean no one has or is walking in Tuitt’s shoes. What happened last year was traumatic and he had his family, his mother and other little brother to help navigate the circumstance. Priorities change frequently, and his has several times, with this recent one deemed what’s best for him and his family. I have no problem with it. The timing or anything. He actually saved the Steelers cap space announcing today.

Pass on Suh……he’s much older and a freelancer.

Again, a tragedy wouldn’t have changed their decision about an obvious cap casualty, so I don’t see it as taking care of a human. The Steelers thought they were taking care of a future asset vs. ridding themselves of a liability. They were wrong.

Exactly right. I'm not sure why some have their tongue up Tuitt's a*s over this. He knew he didn't intend to come back and he used his situation to benefit himself for as long as he could. I don't fault Tuitt. I fault the Steelers for allowing this to happen. It was bad decision making on their part. Then again, PR seems to be more of a priority to them than winning football games these days.

Well, you could always write them a STRONGLY worded letter outlining your issues with how they are handling their team, the owners' money, and any other problems you see. Show them you don't have your tongue up Tuitt's, or their, *****!
*Please provide a citation showing their response. I'll bet it will be highly encouraging.

They would have needed a lot of black&gold to cover that frame of his..lol. Maybe we can trade the eagles something.
Two packs of gum, a Dri Archer game worn jersey and a six pack of iron city beer should do.

If it’s not enough. We can add in Dionte Johnson

Fully support his right to do. I know they kicked money down the road last year. What is the price tag gonna be.
