Let me say this. I've been on this board for 14 years, and anyone who tells you the place doesn't ******* explode with positivity when the team is excelling.. is lying to your face. It's nuts when we're succeeding. Even those like myself, Vader, TMC, etc. - those of us who relentlessly despise the Steelers - are ******** our pants with optimism and predicting the lwoB repuS. I was convinced after we lost to the Packers that we would see another 2-3 Bowls under Tomlin and Ben. The team looked that good. They had perhaps the league's best overall roster. They knew how to consistently beat Baltimore. The defense wasn't to be ****** with. The QB was working on a HOF resume. For some bizarre reason, there's less optimism since the roster began to fall apart and the Tebow loss and the back-to-back 8-8 seasons that followed and the stupid decision-making by the team. I know, I know, that's all subjective. The team is actually AWSUM and this is a fluky lull in the dominance promised to the Steelers by the football elders. But the scoreboard doesn't back that up, as we consistently lose to shitfuck teams and are now fighting off the Browns to stay out of the cellar.
Yeah, it's a weird correlation I've noticed. When the team is excelling and contending for the Super Bowl every year, the fans applaud their planning and execution. When the team loses most of its talent base, slides into mediocrity, and misses the playoffs in back to back years.. the fans question their planning and execution. I'm not sure if there's anything behind that; could be a coincidence.
As for those who are so intensely bothered by negative or skeptical posting, I recommend picking up a pack of AA testicles from the nearest pharmacy or convenience store. Might I suggest, as you folks so often do, that you skip/ignore such hateful, inflammatory posts as "Jarvis had a poor rookie year" or "Timmons missed that tackle." Or, I guess, just ***** relentlessly about the lack of neverending positivity about our suddenly mediocre team. Takes all kinds!
Some are whining because of the arrogance of posters on here. The arrogant opinions on a message board. Oh, the ******* humanity of it all. It's almost as troubling as the Holocaust. I think we should open PTSD counseling centers for those whose flowery sensibilities have been damaged when their smarmy bullshit was responded to by more smarmy bullshit. Because it's MY opinion, and I don't WANT you to disagree with it, or I may just tinkle my onesie if you do! The way I see it is simple: if you have an opinion, you need to be able to back it up for it to be taken seriously. You think Jarvis is on an All-Pro career track with no reasoning to support it? OK, that's fine. I might (gasp!) tell you that I'm not convinced. And when you shoot back what a ****** fan I am for doubting Jarvis Jones or William Gay, expect to be told that` you sound like an idiot. Nobody cares if you don't know something as well you thought you did, But if you know full well that you have zero idea what you're talking about, it's probably best to avoid being a smarmy prick about the issue. If you are, your lack of knowledge and/or support for your position could well be called out. I don't see much about that that's unfair.
