And didn't something similar occur at the White House right after what happened to George Floyd? Weren't there fires and bricks being thrown at police officers? They obviously aren't going to breach the most protected place on the face of the planet, but if the police there welcomed them at the doors and shook hands with them, would would've happened?
And I seem to recall a couple popular hashtags - #bunkerboy #bunkerbitch on Twitter when they were protecting the POTUS from a storm of rioters. Look, I don't think anyone condones what eventually happened on Jan. 6th - but like you alluded to, was there a single shot fired (besides the one that killed Ashli Babbitt?) that killed an officer or other government employee? And people are comparing it to 9/11? It's out of control political theater.

You have to ask yourself a simple question, who had the most to gain from this happening? The answer is just as simple Nancy and the left. It had no potential benefit to the right whatsoever for this to have boiled over and be LET to become what it did. If you can get past your TDS, and I know you can't, this was all a crime of perfect convenience by Nancy who at best, took advantage of the protests to foment a real crisis by allowing them past the barricades, or at worst knew she would be able to use this to her advantage from inside information from the FBI to foil the chances of there being seconded objections to the electoral votes, which was about to happen. This isn't some wild scenario it is the most likely and by far most logical answer if think about the cost benefit analysis to each side. There was no upside for Trump or the right.
