We need a new Head Coach.......FIRE TOMLIN NOW!!!

The NFL should really put out the guidance book on its rules that it gives to the refs... its way more informative than the regular rulebook, but they consider it a trade secret... once every few years a copy leaks out. I don't think I have seen one since pre 2010 though... they actively pursue that **** legally. they don't last online very long, but it does clarify how they tell the refs to call (or not call) every play and penalty... and some are dumb. for hardcore fans it would go a long way to clarifying what is and isn't called right... though maybe the lack of clarification is what the league ultimately wants.

Easy to sit back and analyze that Kelce completion/fumble retroactively. In the few seconds they had between plays they thought they saw enough to have Tomlin throw the red flag. To the naked eye it seemed - for a split second - that he may have bobbled the catch. Seeing it slowed down over and over of course it became clear he took a few steps with the ball, hence a completed pass. But I thought it was reasonable to throw the flag on Tomlin's part, call me an apologist.

speaking of slowing down to see something...anyone else see the Dri appearance?

Sure Did! Well the Announcers did when we punted to the Chiefs and they stated Dri Archer receiving the punt.

or the refs were....or don't they ever get them wrong?

Out of three reviews, they got the Charles fumble wrong, and the Kelce completion and Mitchell tackle correct. What's your point?

I saw Dri Archer take that swing pass 60 yards for a TD, then follow up later with a niffy 75 yard punt return. Amazing speed, vision and shiftiness for a 5-7 toddler. Then I woke up, pissed all over my Kent State pj's... hate it when that happens.

You're certainly entitled to your opinion. I think a major part of the reason Tomlin threw the flag was due to his player pleading his case, which Timmons did vehemently. He seems to give in to his players pretty regularly when it comes to challenging a call.

and it is more likely he threw it because the ball hit the turf and the way the officials are, it could easily have gone the Steelers way. I've seen a lot worse calls than that made after review.....and in spite of your opinion, there is an argument to be made that they ruled incorrectly. since I have already stated my reasoning, I'm not repeating it again...

I don't know anymore...I seem to think the outcomes were a little different than what you think were correct and wrong...so is life I guess.

I don't remember asking you to repeat your faulty reasoning again. But I'll state mine once more for the record: The receiver had already taken three steps and established possession BEFORE the ball "hit the turf" IN THE FIELD OF PLAY, before the boundary came into consideration.

Yes, Tomlin's made more egregious errors with challenges, without a doubt. That much we can agree on.

*stirring the pot*
And did you see him draw two people in coverage?

Seriously I hope the way the Chiefs used Thomas gives us some ideas on how to utilize this guy.

Most fans just see what they want to see. They're happy about the calls that went the Steelers' way, unhappy about the others. I can look at the Jamaal Charles play objectively and say positively that it should not have been ruled a fumble. Some people can't. It is what it is.

I can agree with you on that call....it just differs on the TE review. The thing is ....the same thing could happen next week and the refs will call it the way I see it...it happens every week. i see it as he had to maintain control through out the play....you see he has made the catch(3 steps)and fumbles...i see it as he didn't maintain control while falling to the ground. It doesn't matter if he takes 30 steps while falling to the ground if he doesn't maintain control.

The one I thought was only to keep KC in the game was willie Gay Taunting. Are you ******* kidding. It nearly worked. Great job defense

That statement is 100% incorrect.

LOL..maybe. maybe not...depends how the refs call it from game to game.* My point is/was that from one game to the next game the refs will call the same play both ways...I really didn't have to think i would have to explain that to you. Sometimes it seems you like taking exaggerations and making an issue out of it.

Refs make mistakes on reviews from week to week? Holy ****. Really? Wow. Thanks for clearing that up for me. In cases that don't demonstrate clear possession, of course taking a chance with the challenge flag isn't a bad idea. Unfortunately, due to Kelce's clear three steps with the ball, that wasn't applicable yesterday. But I know, I know..."botched" is such a strong word.

*If you stop making stupid exaggerations, then I'll stop pointing them out.

I've always said if Tomlin gets us to the playoffs with majority of his players I will lay off. So I will lay off ... However I will have to add the biggest factors of this playoff run have been. Big Ben. Heath James Harrison .. Keisel and William gay. All cowher power guys.

Of Course bell brown and Castro have been beast along with heyward. So like I said he deserves credit and I will say I believe in the guy now. I still think we need to draft a little more meat and pot guys but I will lay off Tomlin for a couple years

People lie, but numbers don't. Heyward, Bell and Brown have been FAR greater factors than Harrison, Keisel or Gay. Harrison and Keisel have missed significant playing time, and Gay hasn't even been a full time starter all season.

Mike.

Tomlin.

Get used to the sound of that name, cuz it's here to stay.

Here is another for you to remember liars figure and figures lie

William Gay scored 3 touchdowns from interceptions and has been a very big factor in this season.

Yesterday our great offense scored 2 field goals and 2 touchdowns, yep only 20 points. The defense also got the ball back and stopped the chiefs on a 4th and short that should have resulted in at least three more points. They also stopped them deep and except for a lets keep the chiefs in the game made up penalty and a couple of others that were head scratchers the offense would have been given very good field position again.

The offense did not put up great numbers in yesterdays game. It is a team sport. The defense did a good job yesterday. It is easy to say that the team has done a great job to get here because that much is true. To say it is only or mostly attributable to one or a few guys more than others is a bit of a reach. Even the guys that only make a few plays a game often have those few plays at critical points in the game. Heath has made some great plays to keep a drive going as well as doing a tremendous job blocking. Bryant has made some great plays, Wheaton has played very well and made some key plays. Our full back Johnson covered and protected the attempted onside kick that allowed the game clock to be run out and the win secured.

There have been great plays by lots of guys on the team that have had major effects all season, both the Cowher guys that have been kept and reacquired and the Tomlin guys that have actually performed. I find myself disagreeing with your FAR more than anyone else post rather strongly. I will also say that Bell and Brown have contributed greatly to victories the team has had but neither has just flat out dominated any and all comers every week. They have taken what could be taken and for the most part played very well all season.

I will say this seems to be the best season of work I have seen by MT and we will get to see how he does with everything on the line for the division and then in the playoffs. I hope he has finally turned the corner and continues to develop into the next great coach the steelers wanted. In this post season and the next few seasons he will be facing his toughest challenges of his career. He will be going into the playoffs with a team and coaching staff that he has had a significant part in forming. He will be trying to rebuild his defense over the next few seasons as there will be significant losses for him to try and replace as well as trying to keep the offense together. We will likely see how he does with the next set of challenges. And we can all hope he does well.

My 2 cents.

Mike Tomlin didn't get the Steelers to the playoffs, the players did.

Mike Tomlin didn't lose to the Jets, Bucs and Saints, either. The players did.

Kelce caught the ball. Charles fumbled.

Feels good, though, doesn't it? The Steelers back in the playoffs.

The Steelers went through a red-zone competition period during Friday's practice with the offense and defense splitting the first six plays. On the seventh — with the ball placed at the 3-yard line — the Steelers defense stopped their offense.

It was a scenario that played pout very similarly against the Chiefs when Timmons stopped Jamaal Charles on a fourth-down run in the third quarter inside the red zone.

“That fourth-and-one play was very similar,” Mitchell said. “That goes back to coach and guys knowing how to handle that situation because we are in them so much.”
