Week 17 Game Thread

Funny. This past off season no one offered him anything. Was thinking about going into real estate I think. Then Steelers called and offered him a spot.
I don't think he's a franchise level QB, but if you're looking for an affordable option who's an upgrade over what we've seen, there you have it. I don't care that they had a strong ground game or played bad defenses. We've had those situations before minus any of the results in terms of QB performance or scoring points.

They'll offer Rudolph something as the QB2 with incentives if he plays more. That's the best you can offer him. He was helped tremendously today by the running game. That opened up the passing game. We haven't had that in 3 years.

Next week will be big for Rudolph. If he puts together another solid performance he could probably be back as QB1, no competition.
😂 No one has ever thought Mason Rudolph is quarterback #1. These games have been flukes who in their right mind would have said Mason Rudolph was the best quarterback on the roster. Not one human being and there’s a reason why and that’s because Mason got beat out by Duck Hodges in 2019 and we all saw it then. He has had ample opportunities to become a starter and Kenny only has less than two seasons.

Leaders have no more of a crystal ball than anyone else. **** happens and it’s their job to respond to it. Most people left this team for dead two weeks ago. He’s rallied the troops. If you’re going to blame him when things go wrong, give him his due when things go right.

The two weeks in a row of losing to 2-10 teams at home did me in. This stuff now is pretty standard every year. The amazing fight to make .500.

Yes,I really enjoyed the game today. Big props to our OL,the Running backs who gave 110% and Mason for being patient and poised.

If they would have been open Kenny would have hit them between the numbers! I have been watching Kenny for years and he is the best quarterback on the roster. Mason is just a clipboard holding 3rd string bum! These two games mean nothing. Just because the offense is playing better doesn’t have anything to do with him.
Sure....LOL....NFL offenses seldom have much to do with how the QB plays. Also, Wonderlick scores never indicate red flags either. Google KPs score.

I like the guy as a person from what I've seen and heard about him, but he bears culpability with what we've seen this year on offense. You've not read/watched enough analysis on his actual play on the NFL field. There's a small chance that the playcalling was limited by organizational knowledge of what he can and cannot do.
If you want to blame his lack of growth on coaching, fine. But there are myriad OBVIOUS examples where he simply DID NOT hit the right guys or make the plays that were there. He has simply not been good enough, and it's not all offensive scheme.

Seriously? You are joking right?
Metcalf is very good but not even top tier wr, imagine what a Hill, CeeDee, Jefferson, Nacua type guy would do to JR?

What we ask of our QB he is a perfect QB. Now can he do this for a season? I don't know. I do know he has looked better than any other QB that has played for us this season.

I think there would at least be a competition between him and Pickett next summer.

Whether Rudolph would be willing to do that if he has other options, knowing the Steelers kind of lied to him a couple years ago, is a big question.

The offense is playing better than at any time in KP8's career. They've put up more points than at any time in KP8's career. They've allowed the defense to rest more than at any time in KP8's career. The unit, as a whole, is playing with more confidence than at any point in KP8's career. The only change since we last saw KP8 has been at QB. Those two games mean a lot and MR2 has had a lot to do with those wins and the better play of the offense as a whole.
This^^^^^ And when the defense has to honor the QB play, running gets easier.

I'm not sure Rudolph would come back as QB2 behind Pickett when he's had back-to-back performances that's blown away anything Pickett has done in his pro career.

FordFairLane. I don't want to hear about fluky performances, Pickett and Trubisky couldn't fluke into an average performance the past two years let alone what Rudolph has done the past two weeks. Again, I don't think he's a franchise QB, but he put on the best show since Roethlisberger and it hasn't even been close.

There’s your proof.

We know how Steelers training camp "competitions" operate.

So, apparently his job is to look a fashionable and take credit for the good, but not bear any responsibility for the bad.

That's pretty much it. When things go good it's oh Coach Tomlin is the greatest thing since sliced bread, when they're getting smashed at home for weeks by teams with a combined record of 4-20, it's always someone else.

Just ordered my shirt! I'll wear it with pride.

That's college. Totally different. As Kenny has found out. Not saying he can't progress. But, I am saying he NEEDS to progress, and quickly, if he wants to remain the starting QB in Pittsburgh. Right now his career path is looking a lot like Zach Wilson's except Tomlin is giving him more leeway than Wilson got with the Jets.

Andrew Dice clay is your answer. Did he say hickory dickory dock the Reindeer will lead the flock and you know the rest.

Watch next week and you will be crying for Kenny.

Yep, it is all Matt Canadas fault. Kenny can’t stop checking down because he was told by Tomlin and Canada to check the ball down and guys were never open. If they would have been Kenny would have seen them. Can’t wait for Kenny to comeback and show everyone why he was a for round steal!
Phucking snot bubbles!!! 🤣🤣🤣

I'm a fan of Kenny, but I'm also realistic. I won't be crying for Kenny because I've already convinced myself the Steelers need to bring in a new starter next season.

Unless he completely sucks next week, there is no question that Rudolph "should" be back next season, especially with Trubisky's money coming off the books.

The only real questions revolve around how committed to Pickett they remain and whether Rudolph has any lingering negative feelings towards the Steelers, considering how they treated/neglected him the past couple years.
Mason signed for the league minimum last year and that means no one wanted him then and no one wants him now. He’ll come groveling back after a month on the open market. Why didn’t anyone sign him if he’s so good?

Why are you giving up on him then. Mason has had so much more opportunities than Kenny.
