Why is Matt Canada employed?

Everybody relax. He's never lasted longer than two years in any job he's ever had.

This is his 3rd year here, he was QB coach for a year. Depends if they extended his contract when he got promoted to OC.
 
Before we blame Mitch for everything maybe take a good look at Canada. If this is the new improved offense without that over the hill Ben, not able to fit in his offense, THIS WILL BE A LONG YEAR. He has fallen in love with the hand off to Claypoole run around for what two yard three yards. Heck lets run up the middle for no gain hey we will run it again Cincy won't expect it. Third and long let's call receivers go out three yards turn and fourth and one two yard. Great game plan. We cannot expect even close the number of turnovers we had in this game. Do we ever throw cross the middle or drag a TE over the middle with a linebacker trying to keep uno always throw the down and out pass when Mitch is crowed no way he can step into the pass and be accurate.
 
We could bring Ben in as a new OC

Just have him show up on game days, draw a few plays in the dirt for old times sake and watch what happens

Can’t be worse than Canada

Still in favor of the **** flinging monkey too as an option B if Ben is happy in retirement
 
I thought the first half was kind of interesting...they were doing some different things. But the 2nd half went to shiit. If they can't figure out how to run the ball...but if they don't get some mid range routes over the middle they will never run. The Bengals have a pretty good defense, too.

It's the first week. There is some talent there. Let's see what happens.

This drove me crazy-er, they'd take over on the Cincy side of the field and I'd be screaming to attempt to air it out. Instead, it's a run into a wall.

The first half like I said was interesting, but it was 7-3 and they got it down there around the 3 with a first down. With their struggles to run, the play calling there was stupid. And they had to kick a field goal.
 
A demented, twisted, sick, backwards, repulsive SOB in FL pointed this out to me today during the game ( ::cough cough:: StOoPid) - how many slants did we complete?

Zero.

Every freaking pass play was either a curl/come back or a go route. Every one. Not one slant completion.

Matt Canada's AWEfense is just....

Gimme a break. This team has friggen Olinemen run blocking during passing plays. They are a complete mess on the Oline, and the play caller has no idea how to call plays to sustain a drive. Nothing over the deep middle, everything is short or to the sidelines. Same **** as last year. And for the love of god, 6 point lead with 1:40+ to kill and he's calling pass plays on 2nd down! ****, just have Mitch fall on the ball 3 times, burn as much clock as you can, and make them burn all their timeouts and maybe get out of regulation with the win. But not with the Canada hoser calling things. If I was the Defense, I'd tell Canada and the O to ride home on a separate plane. They almost murdered an amazing defensive effort. ****** jet sweep bullshit.
 
Everybody remember it's week 1. Let's say they looked great on offense and put up 30+ points. It really doesn't mean shiit, because of how early it is. We'd feel better, of course.

I don't have a lot of confidence in Canada either, but let's give it a few weeks.

He had plenty of time to throw on many passes. He can not decipher the field as fast as Pickett..
 
I suspect we see Pickett by week 4.

without seeing the coaches film or better views downfield this is just pure speculation

Canada called a **** game and the OL played like they had no balls

Mitch could have been better, but he could also have been a lot worse
 
Just remember, with Frost out in Nebraska, Mark Whipple will likely be available in the off-season… if Canada doesn’t work out, and im still giving the guy a little more time before calling for his head… they probably just move Mike Sullivan into that role and have Whipple come back as qb coach…
 
I'm sure I could just ask Google, but how long has he been our coordinator?
 
I went through the play by play and by a quick count i came up with 29 short passes and 8 labeled as Deep. I don't know what they consider Deep but the point is it was all short again. Off hand I only really recall 2 deep throws. One to Boykins and 1 to pickens. I think the other "deep" throws were probably in the 15 yard range.

Point is, it was the same old crap. Almost everything short and outside.
