Will Deshaun Watson get a Ben Roethlisberger-style Punishment, or a Pass?

I did the podcast on this very thing last night.

Browns are ******. The $230M contract is FULLY GUARANTEED! They can't get out of it. They lost 3 firsts a 3rd, 4th, and 3rd over this year and the next 2 years.

Baker is also not playing, and doesn't have to because his $18M 5th year option is ALSO fully guaranteed. He sat out OTAs, and was given an "excused absence' from mandatory minicamp. He will never play another down in CLE

Time to see if Dobbs can beat out Brisket for the staring QB job there!

It's just mind boggling anyone would give up 3-1st round picks + other picks for this QB with the type of baggage he has. ADD in the gauranteed money and you have crippled your tea for 5-8 years.

I kind of hope Dobbs does win the starting spot and actually does well, but not against us.

As for Baker's Dozen I thought I saw something about No play / No pay ? Could be me not knowing what I'm talking about but I thought I'd read that somewhere. Maybe the Browns would have to go after the money in court.

Two ways Baker could still get paid AND screw the Browns.
1. Get an outside opinion from a reputable surgeon/doctor saying his injury from last year is not fully healed and he runs the risk of permanent injury if he plays.
2. Play for the Browns ... but purposefully not play well.

And DIC, you can't go after Baker's money in court. It's not a signing bonus. It's the NFLPA/NFL agreed 5th year option which is a guaranteed payout. The only way they can get out of it is to go back in time and cut him in March before the start of free agency.

Well ****, the Browns are totally screwed. That team is crippled for 5-8 years because of the stupidity of the FO / Owner.

So let's say "rub-n-tug" gets a full one year suspention........ comes back...... 2years out of the league...... will he be worth the capital and $$$$ spent???

I'm glad our steelers are not in that position to find out.!!!

I think our one and only Coach has that ability when it comes to player personel !!!

That isn’t entirely true… unless he milks an injury him just refusing to play would be a breach of contract… so if he refuses to play they could recoup that money.. but he could easily claim injury and they would be SOOL.

Same with Watson if he lied to them about stuff… the contract itself could be voided… but the way the Browns are talking makes me think he told them what was coming down the pike and the owner just didn’t give a damn… which likely means they are screwed

I think Baker has 18 or 19 mil at stake, would you tell them to **** off with that kind of money.? Just curious.....

I don't like the Browns anymore than you or anyone else here but there is a contingency (from what I read somewhere) that Baker could be liable for behavior detrimental to the team. No play / No pay

Thanks for all your great post(s) along the way

Someone will pick him up. So yeah.

Someone will pick him up. So yeah.

I hear yaz and don't blame him a bit.

Hasn't this whole Watson / Baker dozen gotten totally out of hand? The assinitity of the whole signing / treatment of their existing star and draft picks vs money and how they handcuffed the team for many a years to come. 6-10 years

Some talk about our ownership but I haven't seen Art Duece **** up this bad and I'm glad for it.

Patiently waiting for the outcome of suspention on Watson and the scramble of the Browns organization.

You're probably right in Baker dozen NOT playing for the Browns ever again.

Yes but not at 18 million or close to it.. thats the dilemma

The Browns miscalculated on his value in the league.
They really thought they would get between multiple firsts and a first and some higher mid rounders for him

This was why they didn’t care about paying the exorbitant trade price on him… the counted on getting part of it back with trading Baker

They also structured Watson’s contract to be renegotiated each year, pushing money outward the first two then extended to mitigate the bulk cap hit reaching them anytime in the near future… but they also were counting on having bakers money to roll over and give them space too

Basically thats why they treated Baker like an expendable *******… but then when they went to trade him, the qb needy teams laughed in their face and told them they would have to pay them to take that contract for that player….

Now the Watson mess is threatening to make all of it worse… the browns may not be able to restructure him if he is suspended next year… and with no freedom of the baker contract space rolling forward they will have to cut apart their team…

Watson was supposed to be what pushed them over tge too, instead he almost assures another rebuild now

But adding insult to injury they go ahead and re-sign njoku to a top 5 TE contract when he has been mostly injured or invisible

Who the hell is left to throw the ball to him?

Josh Dobbs

over

Bisset
(sp?)

I hope Dobbs wins that battle and starts for the ******* clowns and he does good except when playing us and also finishes behind us in PO status

Two ways Baker could still get paid AND screw the Browns.

2. Play for the Browns ... but purposefully not play well.
If he does either of these the other NFL teams will see right thru it and it will almost certainly end his career. Yes he could get away with it but it would hurt them for a year, it would hurt him alot worse. as with any NFL player in a final year, they need to play the best they can to maximize their earnings for their next contract. Doesn't mean Baker isn't petty or dumb enough to try it though.

I don't think baker would play bad on purpose. It would hurt his stock and his teammates would kill him. I think Baker may just refuse to play and i don't blame him for saying FU to the Browns. It is not the most professional way, but the Browns did not handle things professionally either. The Browns should trade Baker and take what they can get. He is probably not worth much more than a 2nd or 3rd now.

If he does #1, and it's his doctors versus the Browns' doctors, who, seeing what the Browns' doctors let him play through last year is really going to agree with the Browns?
As for #2, it's possible that one would end his career. Well, what's left of it after the Browns trashed him in every possible way over the last 8 months.

Baker needs to "trip" going down the stairs at the Browns facility.

Now he contacted 66 women and ask for sex/ harassed how many of them? Dude is a scum bag and if it gets worse the Browns may be forced to cut him. Release the text's. Let him defend that. He should be suspended a full year.

He is still talking to them? The nerve of some people.
