Seems as if the brain trust had a player but no idea how to use him. Just another example of the poor coaching of Cool Shades.

To be fair to Coach Tomlin, blame would have to first fall on Austin our DC.

After that, then Coach Tomlin can be blamed………….. By design

Salute the nation

MT.....I must apologize. I thought “ what the **** is he talking about. Witherspoon got drafted by the Seahawks. Is in the conversation for ROY and has been playing lights out”. The difference between our rookie and there’s is of course he’s also playing non stop. Wrong Witherspoon in my mind. Just read up on Ahkellos progress with the Rams.....nothing but praise there. Good for him👍

I saw part of the game against the Bungles and he looked good. His problem was and remains the fact he can't stay healthy.

Remember when people used to leave the Steelers and become nobody? That was in part because our coaching and systems (and maybe a HOF QB for some players) made them look better than they were. Now players leave and do better elsewhere. What could be the reason? A true mystery.

Also, talented guys like GP aren't going to want to stay here on second contracts if something doesn't change quick.

I would agree it was coaching. That first game last year when he was burned vs Cincy he was stride for stride every time. But he never controlled his man and got him pinned to the sideline. No jam, no bump, nothing. It was free release and run allowing Burrow to throw it right overtop with all that space between the receiver and sideline for easy completions.

If HCMT DOES have a 'skill', it certainly isn't the recognition or development of talent. Whole rosters serve as evidence.

One particular sore spot is his mismanagement on one LeGarrett Blount, who after being jettisoned after a mere half season by our heroes went on to win a Super Bowl in THE SAME FREAKING SEASON, then 2 more with 2 separate teams. He wasn't 'just on the rosters', he was a horse that made serious contributions in playoff games and materially contributed to those Lombardis. HCMT, presumably 'qualified' to deal with Blount and his fellow stoner in the same backfield, had not the vaguest clue how to return on those investments, nor apparently did he try. But his mystical record of 'never a losing season' remains intact to this day. Is there a 'mediocrity' HoF?

'Players coach'. Right?

I just read Sutton is having a terrific season as well. The Steelers don’t do a great job with CBs yet have let their best CBs they have developed walk in recent years.

I believe that even Shinola Holmes, Sherlock's "special" brother, could solve that mystery.

Didn’t like Hilton leaving, didn’t like Witherspoon leaving.
Same… I get he was injured all last year, but I cannot shake the feeling that what the Steelers coaching staff wants in the Defensive backfield to do stuff that doesn’t work well in this nfl… which is why we keep having DB issues with guys that should be adequate

I really do think the reason the Steelers target sons and brothers now is that they know they are deficient developing players and feel like those guys already have a base to build from

And why they rely on players who come to the NFL ready to play in their system, with almost no coaching or improvement - Wisconsin defensive players in particular. Watt, Herbig, Benton, Loudermilk all came from a school that runs the Steelers' pro 3-4 base defense. Plug-and-play guys as rookies.

If those players don't develop, is it because they are not as good as hoped? Yeah, maybe. More likely that the coaches do not improve unfinished players.

Sons and Brothers sounds like a moving company.

Steelers & sons?

Steelers & sons?

Steelers & Sons 2046 - Mike Tomlin's 40th season with the Steelers. Joey Porter III has been drafted in the 1st round and it seems will not play a down.

Mike, what are the chances you break the Steelers' 22 consecutive losing seasons?

Another losing season, no playoffs, no playoff win since 2016? Is that all there is??
