The Newspaper Whose Name We Dare Not Speak has a nice write-up on Derek Moye today. Further, it relates that he, Ben, FA Justin Brown, and Markus Wheaton all went to CA for a while to train and work on routes and timing and that he has been working out with the ST coaches.
So that makes Rochester, PA native and resident Bugundy very happy.

AB, Wheaton, and Moore are locks and Moye, DHB, Bryant and Brown are fighting it out for two roster spots IMO. I also think Archer allows us to have flexibility at WR and RB and probably allows us to keep an extra OL or DL guy.

WR seems to be a solid depth position. Some good competition should arise in camp.

Hopefully someone will step up at no. 2.

I agree that there is potential, but its hard to say we have good depth at the position when we don't even have a defined #2 yet. The WR position is a bit of a concern right now, we'll have to see if anyone step up and grabs the position, as opposed to winning it by default.

that's a lie, ben is a horrible leader, and he doesn't prepare in the off season, he just golfs

Just golfing would be preferable to some of his past off season activities. Glad to see these guys getting together, it sure would be nice if our offense clicked starting week 1.

click, click, then the defensive "CLACK" hope we start out fast at the gate. All things point to a few games, before the mesh.

Saluter the nation

Would like to see Brown or Moye lock down the fifth spot and eventually develop into a #4 or 5 type of player. I know Bryant isn't a lock as a fourth-round pick, but he will be given every opportunity possible and I really think he'd have to flame out to not make the team. When you draft a guy like him, you have to anticipate that he will take 2-3 seasons to develop.

It's been said that the last 30 free agents signed have made the final roster so DHB should make the team he does add value to special teams. Who is the one guy that didn't, I wonder?

I think we have enough talent to field a competent WR group BUT I'm not sure we have a really good one. Right now, we are at least as good as last years group (which I believe was the plan) but we NEED a #2 to avail himself this year. I loved Cotch and what he brought to the team (blocking, reading zones, catching critical balls and teaching the young WRs) and we may need to replace those elements as well.

I'm not too high on Moore and do not think he is able to block or teach the young guys much since he will be learning too. I hope he can bring something to the table but IF the coaches do not see him in a starters role, I wouldn't be surprised to see him cut (he is only guaranteed 645k). I would like it better if Wheaton and Bryant looked the part of #2 and #3 with DHB backing them as the vet which would leave Moye/Brown as the #5. DHB has at least shown he can be a contributor on ST and can still take the top off of coverage. I always saw Cotch as a lesser version of Hines but cannot get my head around Moore being that guy. Maybe Moye or Brown can show something in camp.

Right now we have lots of guys that have not done anything on this team, and Brown. There is lots of speed or in some cases what used to be speed so we will see. At this point in time I would not call any of these guys locks to make the team. It would not be unheard of to have any of them surpassed by any of the others at this point.

I think DHB has the inside track unless one flat out beats him out.................

Justin Brown may have the 2nd best hands on the team. Very interested to see how he progresses this year.

Moye, Brown or DHB? He he who brings the best special teams play has the advantage.

I'm still skeptical of this guy. DHB is a known talent, former first round pick and a willing special teamer of note....BUT....
while he has size, speed, versatility and malleability...he still continues to drop passes on a regular basis in ota's. What good is all those skills if he doesn't catch the ball when he needs to ? There's a reason he's here, two other teams realized he was not worth the aggravation.

I think DHB has the inside track unless one flat out beats him out.................

Camp will be the test, hopefully he will find out what he was doing wrong and come on strong but I ain't holdin' my breath.

Move DHB to CB, Hell Ike has made a career out of droping passes.

One of the papers had an article this morning that said Justin Brown was catching everything thrown his way in the first week of OTA's and looked very good. Said if he keeps that going, he may make the roster this year.

He was one of the WR's Ben met up with in the offseason for some extra practice. It may have paid off big time for him.

I think Moye gets cut. Not sure he has practice squad eligibility left

I think it will come down to him and J. Brown unless one of the FA's flames out and gets cut. Part of Moye's advantage though is that he doesn't cost a lot of money.

Don't quite understand the attraction to Moye. He's a take-it or leave-it guy to me. Not saying I'm rooting for the guy to fail, but if that's as good as our #5 receiver is, then I consider there to be depth issues in the organization.

Dale Lolly reported J. Brown has looked extremely well so far in OTA's as well. Not sure that really makes a difference at this point in shorts, but I at least look at Brown and see some NFL skills. Same with DHB. I suspect it really comes down to those two and Moye really isn't in the mix (as much as some here want him to be).

I agree with this. Assuming good health for all, I think the #5 WR will be between Brown and DHB with the ability to play special teams a key factor.

1999 Malcolm Johnson déjà vu.

"He's going to be the next Herman Moore!" I remember a long thread built around that premise on the official site board back in the day.

There's the attraction.

Moye is the new Tyler Grisham, At least Moye has height, and the above catch, whereas Grisham had nothing.
