Rumor: Steelers looking to trade for WR

Maybe because he was cheap. Just like Fields was.Just like Wilson was. Just like Mason Rudolph was. Just like Kenny Pickett was. Just like Trubisky was. I just fail to think Rodgers was their ”all in plan”.

We haven’t had a high QB contract since 2021. Seems to me they have been trying to save $$$$ in this position. They could have got Sam Darnold if they really wanted him. Sam just turned 28 and is doing just fine up in Seattle.

This is not me saying Aaron is not doing good. He is.
But it’s that age thing. Mobility thing. And then We are going to go through the same thing as last season, while Aaron makes up his mind to play. We will be right back to square one. Darnold would have given us 4+ full years of not worrying about the qb position. I’ve been watching him play. He’s definitely in the top 10 QB’s now.

And I know CMT and the media will one day start claiming the brilliance of the move to get Rodgers.
Never forget they wanted Fields, made an offer…..he said no. It was said they made an offer to Darnold.
Any Tom,Dick or Harry could see that Rodgers was the last choice of the whole league. Nobody was beating the door down to get him.
The question was rhetorical in that what was the point getting him if he's here for a year or two, he retires, then we are back at square one? I was hoping we would pull out all the stops to get to the AFCC game or the big dance. I have now seen several videos from Rodgers where he seems to be signalling he won't be done after this year.

Miami has a new GM and the franchise is in deep trouble probably not going to have a good season...

After losing on Thursday night - rumors and whispers are starting to get louder about Waddle's availability to be traded by Tuesday.

Homer be damned - at 26 with 3 1k receiving yard seasons - I'd give Miami the 3rd round pick they want and call the WR room set for the next 3-4 years...

Make it happen, Mr. Khan!!!

berm, I’d go for this as well. The offense is but one player away from being dominant. Although that player will not be on defense, which is most critical in team overall welfare.

Set the WR room, then be able to focus near ALL draft on defense. Aaa-Ron another year, Will Howard next up.

Salute the nation

I'd gladly take Waddle for a 3rd. That's also way undervalued given his talent just like the Steelers giving Pickens up for only a 3rd.

I think at this point hitch your wagons to the offense. Def is to much trouble.
That is hard for me to say with being a Defense lover since the 70s.
The only change I see of the Steelers doing anything is to outscore teams as they certainly will not stop them.

yeah, even first ballot HoF QB AAron Rogers couldn't un-**** that organization's level of suck...Fields going to be different? Nah. He was with the loser Bears, came to the Steelers and did a pretty good job, then goes to the loser Jets. Kid isn't a bad QB, he just needs the right team.
Meh, when he was here they ran a super simplified offense... it likely wasnt sustainable... he would have probably been good for Canadas offense, ironically...

The jets asked a smidge more from him and he fell apart... chicago really ****** him by failing to develop him while he was there

He could be another Geno Smith... just needs the perfect system for his skillset abd cant operate outside of that

Id definitely take waddle for a 3rd. I think the D is more a schematic issue than player issue. The D might not be all-world, but should be better than it is

The Raiders want a second or third for 29 year old Jacobi Meyers... dude is an older end 2wr who has topped 1000 yards once and never made a pro bowl... anything over a fourth is highway robbery.

That would be my offer a fourth and maybe a seventh
And remind them that the bills fourth will probably be basically a fifth

Waddle is now being put out there. I would take either Meyer or Waddle. With Waddle coming available for trade, you might get Meyers for what you are suggesting

Tomlin says the schematics and components are there at this juncture.

a man in a suit says cuz he 's lost in front of a crowd

Waddle's name has been bandied about...

wouldn't his contract make other teams shy away?

The option proration and signing proration stay with Miami, so that's not too bad a contract for a team trading for him. A team trading for Waddle would only be up for remainder of 2025 base (say $700K), 2026 Base + Roster + Workout ($1.3m) and 2027 Base + Roster + Workout ($24m). So about $26m for 2.5 years. No guarantees attached to his 2028 salary, so it is effectively a 1 year $26.5m option.

I think the real financial barrier to a Waddle trade is that Miami don't appear to have the cap capacity in 2026 to absorb the dead money hit if they trade him.

Question. Is George better than or on par with Jaylen???

Let it marinate before you answer.

I'll provide my input now - George is a bonafide WR1. Fact. We get an extra 3rd because of his trade. Jaylen is one step down but is DEFINITELY a bonafide WR2 AND good/great teammate.

Personally, I'd make the trade and possibly sweeten it with a low tier player of Miami's need...

I still can't see them using their 1st, 2nd or 3rd round picks. The draft is in Pittsburgh, and that means something for the hometown crowd to see their home team making their picks.

Apparently, they want a 1st (saw it multiple places) plus other compensation for Waddle. That would be a big NO. And, they shouldn't give any more than a 4th or 5th for Meyers, but they want more as well.

Of course we'd make the trade because it's a steal for the Steelers. Pickens was worth at minimum a first--his attitude problems were because of our offense more than anything else--and we dumped him for a third. Waddle, at worst, should comman a second and a late-rounder.

If Miami wants a 1st for Waddle, then they really don't want to move him. I can't imagine anyone offering that.

If they only wanted a third for Waddle, great, do it... but they almost certainly will ask for more a d likely get it

He is 27... still in his prime for a wr. He is signed through 28. He costs virtually nothing vs Miami's cap this year. Next year he costs only 11 million.
27 and 28 he would be up around 27-30 mil for a team that traded for him, but that can be mitigated

There is 9 mil in void money spread out that hits in 2028

Its managable the way its set up...

So there is no need to move him.. he will probably be pricey

Does this win make the Steelers want to make a move more, and will they? Should be some deal that can be made to improve the team by only giving up a 4th or 5th rounder. Do your thang, Kahn-artist!

To me, it’s about standing pat right now.
I believe the Steelers have been very non-Steeler like lately.
Too many outside acquisitions is totally getting away from what made the organization successful for all these years.
I understand the need recently to supplement with players from other organizations or free agent signings, however, it needs to stop. It’s getting too late in the season to continue to do that and expect immediate favorable results, on the field of play and in the lockeroom

As it relates to our receiving situation, I feel the biggest issue is the players we acquired this year are not providing the dividends that we expected.
What we need is for Metcalf and Smith to start improving their game and providing more value down the field. If those two gents pick it up, I believe that this offense will improve immensely going forward.

True but we all know Tomlin is going to bench Roman (even though he gets little gametime as it was). They need to have Roman getting snaps as he did look improved (prior to trying to jump over a dude) and is probably the only WR still with significant room to hit his ceiling. It should be Metcalf, Austin, and Roman as the top 3 WR'S.

Tomlin should make him accountable for that mistake. That possibly could’ve cost the game.
This board talks a lot about Tomlin’s lack of accountability. Now that he should show some accountability, some of us are calling for otherwise in this situation.
Can’t have it both ways, especially when it comes to accountability in an organization.

Well, I was just throwing my monkey poop on the wall hoping for it to stick...
Let me give it a shot, you can’t have all the fun.

Debo Samuel, with what happened to Daniel’s last night and their terrible defense, you would think Washington might consider moving him for the fifth round pick they gave to San Francisco. Samuel is not a cure all that’s for sure but he’s on the final year of his contract and has versatility which creates other concerns for opposing defensive coordinators.

He definitely should talk to him which is what he does to just about everyone else but they need a WR and Roman should have already been given that opportunity. Moving forward, they need to get him much more involved. They are now apparently going to sign MVS which is dumb. He is no better than our top 3 as it is. He should be a WR4/5 instead of them bringing him in to probably be a WR2/3.

Samuel isn't a kid anymore either, would a 9 game rental be worth it? Yesterday's win may have created some false hope that things have turned around, guess we'll have to wait and see.

I like the Debo Samuel suggestion. You make a good point with the Daniels injury. I think it changes things for them too. At the end of the day i just hope they do something that moves the needle regardless of what side of the ball it takes place on.
