Not me personally, but my daughter is a cardiac ICU nurse here in Phoenix, they have 2 confirmed cases and waiting on confirmation for a third.
She just finished her 6th 12+ shift this morning and is exhausted. Still praying this is no worse than the H1N1, but people are flat out irrational about this, and yes the media is feeding this.

I agree we need to be informed, but it seems one network is trying to out do the next with the hysteria.

The US is a unique case with these type of pandemics, based on the sheer size of open land across the country. I imagine there will be remote corners of North Dakota, Wyoming and Montana where there will be little sign of the virus. But major cities, with international travel will all be hot spots, as will urban and suburban areas around the country that have had limited testing thus far.

I read somewhere a few days ago, they traced back the 0 patient in the States for covid-19. It wasn't anybody from China, Iran or Italy that flew in and spread the disease. It was an American tourist group that went to Egypt for a Nile river tour. Spent a week or so there, flew back to the states and nearly the whole group contracted the virus while in Egypt. Had little to no symptoms, went about their daily lives, and it spread from there.

The craziest **** ever is Trump & Pence saying that covid-19 testing should only be for the elderly or those with clear symptoms. It's a known fact the virus is contracted and spread by people of all age groups, including kids and teenagers, and those in their 20's and 30's as much as anyone else.

They may not get sick or show symptoms, but they are spreading the virus far and wide. It is the silent assassin, moving through several people until it reaches someone with a weak immune system, someone older and more frail, and then it's deadly.

My point is, all of society should be mindful of what's happening. We should be looking out for our parents and grandparents.

It's irresponsible to scoff at this, or wish it away, for the sole reason that we ourselves - or our kids - may feel we're not in danger. It's a wierd pandemic, in that it goes after the elderly and the weak. But what kind of people are we, if that's not something that we'd concern ourselves with. Kids and teens may be losing a grandma or a grandpa, not to natural causes or cancer, but to a worldwide virus taking out folks at a deadly rate.

Did I say that? Go back and read what I've written. It's real. So far to date, it's killed less than the flu "without" a vaccine. We have a vaccine for the flu. Yet this still hasn't killed as many people. As Dr. Drew said, you're more likely to die from the flu.

It's real. I'm saying as of right now, we have NO reason to fear this more than the flu. None. Save for what the media is scaring us about. Could I be wrong eventually? Perhaps. As of right now? No.

I AM questioning why we have reacted so violently to this at this point. Think about it. We have shut down every major sport in the US. Schools and universities are shut down. Borders are closed. One is death rate per 100000 people... that is not a scary number at all right now

The second is the mortality number which is proven cases (tested)+ suspected cases(untested but symptoms matched)+ estimated unreported cases (based on infection rate, mild case probability and a **** ton of mathematical hoops )

So here is where your news media is being intellectually dishonest

The flu death rate they are giving is the deaths divided by the total estimated numbers
The Coronavirus is the Deaths divided by the proven cases

So They estimate the current Us has at leadt 500,000 cases... suddenly that death rate is insignificant

When they were harping about italy’s death rate climbing Italy had not broken 10,000 cases, but the estimates were in the hundreds or thousands infected


Now that doesn’t mean these precautions arent good, they do slow the spread of it and here is the thing, spread out it gives severe cases a fighting chance... the more diluted the medical workers are , the higher the death rates
