2014 Pirates thread

annnnnd then they get their ***** handed to them while committing 5 errors. another El Toro launch the throw into the stands.

got ****** by the Umps today. should have called fan interference and the runner back to first, he would not have scored. and a Bullshit out call at the plate. not only was the catcher blocking the plate before he had the ball but his tag was late. should have been a 1-0 win for the Buccos

Though I do not agree with the call on the ground rule double, I place just as much blame on the idiot fan for picking up the ball, especially given the angle he had, it was EASY to see that the ball was fair.

The barrier is there for a reason. Keep your ******* hands behind it.

I hope he was escorted out of the stadium... Dude was an idiot and a fan lost the game for the Pirates... the ump messed up since the Brewer had stopped halfway down the line... how can you give someone second base when they are barely halfway to first when the interference occurs... Umps took a run away and gave them a run but the Pirates needed to not have so many LOB...

They need to bring up Polanco and send down Marte. Marte has been horrible at the plate this year. strike outs are easy just throw 3 or 4 sliders in the dirt on the outside of the plate and he'll swing and miss every damn time.

The issue is that they now have a substantial financial commitment to Marte. Would the notorious penny-pincher at the top accept paying Marte what he is currently for minor league at bats?

yes. because he has regressed very badly. we don't need a extremely light hitting LF.

Are you at all familiar with Ebenezer Nutting?

Marte may be "light hitting" but he's also highly paid.

There's next to zero chance he is called down anytime soon,

Called him out and then he goes 3-4. also Polanco just got called up and Neil Walker on the DL for an Appendectomy.

Sucks that Walker goes down when Polanco comes up. Marte's week long benching has benefited him it seems. He has been hitting the crap out of the ball since he got back in the lineup.

my Question is, who is the odd man out when Neil Walker comes off the DL? it sure as **** won't be Josh Harrison or Gregory Polanco. My guess would be Jose Tabata gets sent down or Travis Snider gets released.

Liriano is a mess this year. At times he is wildly inconsistent with his pitches and then at times he gets it together and pitches like he did last year. Throw in the 2 times he has had to come off the mound early in the game for illness and injury. Sheesh.

Well, I mean he got a hit in his debut. Was the expectation for him to go 5 for 5 with 3 homers? As a team, I agree, very lackluster.

I thought there'd be a lot of energy at the ballpark between the fans and the team. It just wasn't. After the initial excitement wore off, the team crapped the bed and the place was dead for much of the evening.

Alot of it had to do with Liriano giving up 2 quick runs and then leaving the game with injury I think. The fans know that with Cole on the DL, Tallion on IR, and Liriano not performing, the pitching staff is in trouble and as a result, the team is in trouble.

But after Cutch's homerun, you could feel that the Pirates seized the momentum. Liriano leaving with an injury was killer because things did not go well at all after that. Still a fun night at the ballpark.

Cutch supposedly made a change in the batters box and is attributing his recent success to that. Please share that secret with the rest of the lineup.

cutch is on a freaking Tear. he will soon be leading the team in Homeruns.

can somebody pinpoint in time just when exactly Clint Hurdle decided that no pitcher shall throw a complete game?

but man, is Polanco awesome.

and it seems he's inspired Chico Esquela Marte to step it up some, too.
