2016-2017 Pens----Still with 100% more Kessel

I call him Pecker Weiner lol.

I think Nashville are taking the Pens lightly. I feel the Pens best is yet to come

funny how things work out

Laviolette almost named head coach of Pens

Had Peter Laviolette been out of a job one month later, he would have likely been named head coach of the Pittsburgh Penguins according to GM Jim Rutherford.

Of course, Laviolette and Rutherford worked together in Carolina when they both guided the Hurricanes to the Stanley Cup 11 years ago. "Interesting how things could have worked out differently, isn't it?" Rutherford said Friday. "I really have a special admiration for what he did when we worked together. ... We would have reunited. But the timing didn't work out. I think that's about as clear as I can say about what I thought about Peter Laviolette - the fact that if he was available, I would have hired him here when I first got here."

Of course, the job eventually went to Mike Johnston who was eventually replaced by Mike Sullivan. It worked out for both parties involved as Laviolette has guided the Predators to the Stanley Cup Final and the Penguins will look to win back-to-back Stanley Cups.

Laviolette was a hated man as the Flyers HC. I still remember that last game of the season in 2012. Not to mention the 2012 series.
Different attitude Pens team though.

kinda funny after reading some comments from the cocky Preds fans thinking they are now world beaters. Half thinks they will sweep and the other half thinks they Pens are not that good. I love good comedy in the morning. I also remember when I got to experience my first Cup run. . .in 1991!

The 8 seed from the soft West is taking the defending champs lightly? Let's see how that works out for them. Like San Jose last year, I think the Pens have already been through the tough part of the gauntlet with CBJ, Chokers and Sens. This one should be easier.

Maybe not their team, but their fans are cocky as Hell. I want to smash them. Their D and Rinne will give the Pens some fits, but I hope all our guns come out blazing and don't let up. They certainly have the experience and are battle tested, so this will be a good one against those pesky Preds.

One thing the Pens have a huge advantage in is the experience and character department. This being the Preds first time in the Stanley Cup final it has to have an effect.

The Pens have been there and done that, and have rebounded from more adversity and won this season than anytime I can ever remember.

I do believe this, but after the first period, first game, you should know what to expect and realize the stage is not so big. Or not. The Super Bowl is different. You have one game. I do hope you're right, though. I hope the Pens pounce on them before they know what hit them, but the Preds are a confident and feisty bunch.

Patric Hornqvist (upper body) will be a game-time decision for Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Final.

Penguins coach Mike Sullivan was "definitely encouraged" by the way Hornqvist played during Sunday's practice. As previously noted, Hornqvist skated on the first power-play unit during the practice, which is might suggest that they're working under the belief that he'll be available.

Chad Ruhwedel (concussion) has declared himself available for Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Final.

That doesn't necessarily mean that Ruhwedel will draw into the lineup, but it gives the Penguins another option

Play gritty in front of Pecker and the Pens will score.
All due respect to the guy but he isn't Holtby or Anderson.

I felt nervous about this series at first. But **** it. We are repeating

for all the Pens and Crosby haters, I want this one for them! They've been referred to the Patriots of the NHL, Bettman's golden boys, cheapshots, divers, whiners, bandwagon fans, etc. F all of them! I want this B2B to shut them all up and piss them off more.

I rememeber saying that Anderson isn't Holtby too.

I said that about Anderson too. But the guy was that good. That's why Ottawa was in the ECF.
This playoff run has prepared this team for anything Nashville throws imo
-Prepared for the cheap stuff seen against CBJ(also physicality)
-Prepared for any physicality along with some hockey seen against Washington
-Prepared for any strategic traps and great goaltending to boot seen against Ottawa

I respect Nashville to a point. But they do not want to play a speed game with us. They do not have the pieces to run a trap system similar to Ottawa.

They do not have the health nor bodies to play similar to Washington or Columbus.
The bench boss in Sullivan and the calm, never phased demeanor in Murray, along with the been there done that roster.
The black & gold means business

Amen that!
Any hardcore hockey fan will tell you that Crosby takes a beating every season. He's not the diva bandwagoners make him out to be.
The Pens got compared to the patriots. Wtf?! Lol

Here's to a strong final

Let's Go Pens!

Saw this on another MB. The author, through a couple of quotes from Rutherford and Crosby implies that next year's roster will include a couple of goons as the Pens are getting tired of the league sanctioned abuse that Crosby is taking.

http://www.thehockeynews.com/playoffs/article/penguins-expect-crosby-abuse-to-continue-but-they-re-growing-tired-of-it

the roster will be vastly different, as Kunitz, MAF, Daley, Cullen and few others may be gone, so some money will be free. They need some guys that hit and still make plays. Will be interesting to see what Rutherford does to mold this team again.

Should be a fun series... I have a few Memorial Day functions throughout the day with the Stanley Cup Final as dessert. Thank God for all the military veterans who aacrificed everything including the some who gave all because without that, we couldnt have great days like today.

Unless Nashville tries to muck it up in neutral ice, I feel like the Pens will out talent them for an easier victory then the talking heads are predicting. A hot goalie and the big 4 on their defense do worry me though as well.

Eh, don't go away from a formula that's working. Somehow I don't think adding a couple of goons is gonna stop another team's goons from beating up Crosby.

I hope they don't bench Jake!

Kunitz hadn't had a goal for 3 months prior to his little spurt last game

We need speed, young legs!

Guentzel a possible Penguins scratch with Hornqvist a game-time decision

Jake Guentzel had only two assists in seven games versus Ottawa in the Eastern Conference Finals.

Guentzel has nine goals and 16 points in 19 games, good for a tie for first in goals in the playoffs as well as tied for sixth best in scoring but his slump in the third round has caused some concern. As a rookie, Guentzel is not used to playing so much, especially at this time of year and the worry is that he is tired. "You're not playing every other night (in the USHL), but it's a long season and a lot of games, (so) it's a little similar, but the intensity has risen now," Guentzel said. "It's different (in the NHL), playing every other night for how long. You've just got to take care of your body and find different ways to do that. First time around, so you have to try to find things that'll work and roll with it." Guentzel could be a healthy scratch Monday if Patric Hornqvist is deemed healthy. Stay tuned.

Tic tic tic tic.. These 8pm games suck though. Most days I'm up at 4:30 am.
