2018-19 Penguins and NHL Offseason

I miss when the Penguins were winning Cups with speed and skill. They went away from that and the results haven't surprised.

They fell off big time in two years.
Very similar to Chicago's situation
 
This roster needs an overhaul. Guys like Simon and Aston Reese need to be in WBS or somewhere else, I would seriously look at moving Mallon, Kessel and Letang. Tell Cullen to retire. Send Maatta somewhere, anywhere. Get a different philosophy. This free wheeling blind behind the back pass first bullshit has to go. Works great in December up in Buffalo, not so much in the playoffs.
 
I wasn't expecting the guys to win this series, but I did expect a bit of a fight.
NYI is controlling the whole way.
 
You have to give the islanders credit. Every inch of ice is contested. All 200 feet. They get their sticks in the lanes, they block shots, and they use their speed. I picked the isles to win this series. Didn’t imagine it would be so lopsided.
 
I mean hell, they are making Robin Lehner look like the second coming of Hasek. Robin Lehner.
 
This would be funny if I wasn’t a Pens fan.
 
Officially over. Been a rough season.
Loved the October canada road trip. But no other highlights to really gush over.

Too many bizarre moves from Rutherford during that time period with maybe the worst being signing Jack Johnson this offseason. Overpaid and too many years for a guy who didn't pass the eye test or the advanced stats test.
 
As discussed many times, they should have kept Reeves and Cole through the end of the season last year. The chemistry was great, and they were winning a lot. I really believe they would have won the cup if JR hadn't screwed with the chemistry. Sure, they lose Cole for nothing, but I'd take another cup for the sacrifice.
 
Boy, the Pens SUCK! Wonder what the team will look like next year. This has got to be a huge disappointment.

Glad I didn't waste my time watching the 3rd and went grocery shopping with the Mrs.

Pretty bad when that was a better choice than watching the Pens.

For some reason Sullivan had it out for Cole...I think there is some sort of issue with him and how he deals with the players that for some reason isn't working anymore.

That aside this group with exception of the superstars, and half of them are dragging their ***** too, wasn't going to come close to sniffing the cup this year. Anyone that thought otherwise was just drinking the kool aid.
 
I went to the gym 5 min into the second period. They are absolutely no match for ny whatsoever. That's clear. I don't know why they didn't ride with the speed they had and grit. Maybe added more. Now they have no speed and the defense sucks.

Oh well. I'll watch the last game just to see who tries and who ***** off.

They just dont have enough. I dint see one blocked shot, left Murray wide open all game
 
I was hoping after they killed the 5-3 they had woken up but I think this team is doing about all they can do. Should be an interesting off season.

At least the Bucs are 8-6 and 1.5 games out of first. They might help get Pittsburgh sports fans over the hump until training camp starts.
 
When the top offensive talent can't even connect on plays they've done a thousand times you know something is up.
 
Hey look at the bright side everyone.....Getting swept by the Islanders wont be as bad as what Lightning fans will go through if they get swept by the Jackets...

Columbus just went up 2-0.....

Columbus is bringing it! Hot damn.

I had low expectations for our Pens this post season. I'm not shocked by the result.
The majority of our games this season were an indication.

Yup. Rutherford gutted this team and Sully couldn't coach the talent he had. I just hope the Isles can do something with Washington.

Also whoever said that thinking CBJ can win the series is crazy must not have watched them or know about how TB chokes in the playoffs.
 
I'm over it . This team never gelled. I'll watch the last game, but I will have low expectations.

On another note, I was able to clean out and organize two tackle boxes today. Yes, the game was that bad.
 
Washington are dancing in the streets today, as TB and the Pens are about to be eliminated. CBJ are good, but I don't think they have enough to go through TB and the Craps. The Isles and BOS/TOR, who knows. Flip a coin, I guess. I still think this sets WASH right up to get back to the SCF. The Pens just don't have the horses this year and can't adjust to the speed and suffocating style of NYI. If the players and coaching staff can't adjust, they might as well go back to the drawing board and get ready for 2019/20.

I actually have been saying most of the year everyone in the East was playing for second place behind the Bolts. I thought it was their year. BUT watching the Jackets some during that run they had to end the season I knew whoever played them would have their hands full. Everyone was saying how the Pens wouldn't want to play the Caps but from what I seen I wouldn't have wanted anything to do with the Jackets. Wouldn't have mattered the way the Pens are playing though.

Momentum in Hockey is like nothing you see in any other sport. It happens from shift to ****, period to period and can take you a long way once you have it.

Honestly I never gave the Bolts a single thought. It's like when the bungles make the playoffs... yea, they are there... but not for long. I never thought for a moment that the Pens would play them. I thought the Pens would go out in the 2nd round at best. I figured the Isles would win but I thought it would take more games. I just can't stand watching Washington and Wilson having success right now. It's freaking killing me.
