2018-19 Penguins and NHL Offseason

First off, Maatta needs to go NOW! He ******* sucks. Brassard is a waste, and Jack Johnson has been pretty much a bust. I wouldn't be opposed to moving Murray, though 6 months ago, that would seem crazy. I'm torn on Malkin. I love the guy, but he just doesn't seem to care right now. If there was an amazing offer for him, I'd listen. We need a speed guy to go along with Rust (damn, I wish we still had Sheary), a solid bruising defenseman, and a goalie to go along with DeSmith.

I really hate to say it, but it does seem like Sullivan's style has worn thin. I think he's a great coach, but may not be working out right now with the Pens.

I believe Lemieux can get the inside scoop as to the health of that locker room from Sid and if they are doing all they can but the skills/endurance/etc. is waning, I hope he instructs Rutherford to start getting some new young talent in. Sid probably still has a few good years left in the tank so it would be great to be able to find another prodigy like when Mario gave the keys to Sid. I'd rather rebuild using the talent we have in trades rather than endure year after year of ****** seasons and high draft picks but that might be what it takes to get the organization back to what we've grown accustomed to seeing the past 15 years or so.

So I think we can all agree we need to get the talent back we had last year before we traded it away for **** players that don't fit our system...

Rutherford needs to trade for penalty specialists or someone to replace all the shot blockers and speed they traded away when they are on the PK. The SHG problem is huge. Two months in and this team is becoming a joke with the Swiss Cheese D and shotty goal tending. I'd start listening for one of the "pieces" like Geno, Murray, Brassard, etc. Time to re-tool this team.

I pretty much agree with you. I'll add Kessel. Read where he hasn't had a direct shot on goal in 8 periods. Once again he is pouting because he and Malkin have been separated. I never thought I would want to move Murray, Malkin or Kessel but it's becoming more obvious by the game. Retool, rebuild and start to gather assets. I honestly think this is why the Pens brought back Craig Patrick. Someone to buffer GMJR ,so he doesn't implode like he did in Carolina.

Going practically a decade without a first round pick is showing. Win now, worked. The dividends were sets of back to back Cups. In salary cap hockey you need to produce during your window. The Pens have.

Kessel is still a serviceable winger. He needs a physical and another speedy winger for him to thrive.
Honestly I'm ready to move on from Malkin. He's a shell of his former self. As great as it is to think he and Sid as career Pens. Geno and Brassard would bring something of value in a trade.

The problem I have with Kessel is he seems to be a quitter. Separate him from Malkin and he pouts. He has rarely provided defensive support. His value, whatever it is would be highest at the deadline. Moving Malkin is an interesting idea. I just don't see the Pens moving someone that they gave a charity suite to as part of his perks. Assuming we miss the playoffs. I see Brassard, Kessel and maybe Maata being moved. I don't want to see a fire sale and will hate to see the core of this team be disassembled but maybe it's time.

Plus Kessel not only disappeared last year in the playoffs, he was a liability. We all thought he was hurt. Not sure what happened to him. Maybe too many shots to the melon.

Sullivan's style caters to Rust, Sheary, Guentzel etc.
Our problem is slow depth. Non grinding bottom 6 and sloppy play from the top 6.

I think it is time to move on from Kessel.
Malkin needs another Pearson. We'll see how Hornqvist chugs along on his line.

And again. We need defensive help.
Letang is going back to last season's form.

Great. We added a struggling defenseman to a struggling defense. While Sprong has upside, he hasn’t done much so I get it.

well, we got the defensive version of Pearson. If he contributes like Pearson has, then it will be worth the gamble.

What do we have now 8-9-10 Defensemen. Either they are sending Riikola down or someone is getting traded. So help me, if they trade the Big Rig I'll be at Defcon 5.

We have tickets tonight. If you haven't looked Stubhub and Vivid Seats have tickets less than $20.00

I have no idea what this team is doing or what team will even show up this evening.

left band practice, turned the game on in my car, Avs scored, 3-1, drove down the road and got gas, got in my car, 3-2 Pens. Mind you, it takes me 10 minutes to get home. Turned onto my street, 3-3!

What in the flying fudge is going on? Simon is hurt, too. I think I need to find something else to do.

Well to put it this way.
1st period we were up 3-0.
End of the 2nd period score is 3-3.

And one of them is of course a short handed goal. They've got some unreal **** going on. Are these guys just half assing it or maybe starting to check out. I don't get to see many games. I can't ever seem to find the right link to one. I'd get a good feel if I watched a handful in a row.

That HT a Pens record? Can't watch the game tonight...

Less than 3 minutes.

Actually the effort looks like it's there. No half assing at all.
We just aren't that good depth speaking
