2024 draft simulator.

Sorry, but I’m sick of bringing in a project. I get he may be a later round pick, allowing us to possibly get another need but I also have seen “projects” of the past and have been set back 2 years as well.

Draft a player to play the position they play, seems like a new concept with this coaching staff.
Barton is going in the first round.

Barton would be the guy I'd want if we cannot or do not get JPJ. He'd offer position flexibility (which makes Tomlin drip from a flaccid state) and would let us either start him at C or at RT if we were able to get Frazier or Van Pran later.

Ideally, we snag Barton then Frazier, flipping Jones over to LT.
Jones - Seumalo - Frazier - Daniels - Barton

Though I have a suspicion we're going to keep an eye on Goncalves and snag him in the mid-rounds. If that is the mind-set, then look for WR or C in the first.

You Barton guys tell me would he have clean snaps game 1 with an older QB at the helm? Would Herbig be able to man the position without getting Wilson killed until ready?

Some big questions that could alter a season right out of the gates.

my only contention with Herbig is he wasnt able to beat out Cole last season.
and we know how badly Cole was.
so if Herbig can't beat out COLE...

I don't see Herbig as a center at all. Barton played center as a freshman and that's where he seemed to work out at his pro day. I like him a little better than JPJ because of his athleticism. Probably because of Dawson and Pouncey, I like a center who can pull. Game-changer in the middle of the offensive line.

Exactly, and if Barton isn't ready game 1 they could have quite the condundrum. I heard some rumblings that a trade might be had on draft day for some Center insurance so that is always a possibility or even bringing back Cole for a reduced price. But that might not be desirable for either party. They say a begger can't be chooser so ya know that could be the fall back option...

I don't doubt the guys athleticism, I question his early snap capacity and the possibility that could cause early seasonal issues if he is force fed into starting. The last guy that happened to didn't work out well.

Then looking at Porter and Broderick how confident can we be they could have Barton ready early even if he was capable?

We are going to roll the dice but doing so I prefer they give themselves a fighting chance if they are initially wrong.

Porter and Jones were ready to upgrade when their names were called on Draft Day,

took Tomlin and Co some time to learn how to pronounce them.

Thank you both.

I hope it doesn't come down to this, last option.

I dunno can he make the switch? I know he has played the position but it wasn't his last. Those types always make me nervous. Do they really have the luxury thinking he is a plug and play and not a developmental? JPJ is no athletic slouch. I would still take him if available. He looks to be a day 1 plug and play.
I read he did Center drills at the combine and excelled at it. I do think he is a plug and play C but he can also play G and T as he has the size, athleticism and strength, added bonus: he can pull like the best of them

Still, if by the 3rd round Van Pran or Frazier are available you can always double dip and move Barton to RT if the other drafted Center proves to be starting material right away too. You went from zero depth to 2 capable starters, though I think Van Pran, at age 22, can't handle the starting spot yet. That's why Barton can begin there and then move when VP is ready

I definitely would be more comfy if they double dipped.👊

Interesting draft looks like a little bit of everything and the kitchen sink. Looks a little late for Wilson but like the pick. I know Matt is on their radar as he had a visit.

Penix ran 4.46 at his pro day. Funny that I'm seeing JJ MCCarthy getting hyped as a top 5 pick and Penix is seen as a round 2 guy. McCarthy runs a 4.6 had to make like 3 plays per game in that Michigan offense. He's talked about like he's an elite talent. Penix had a team on his back, made play after play, and he seems an afterthought.

Suddenly JPJ stock is tumbling for no apparent reason... a lot of these draftniks are thinking no center goes before 1.25 at the earliest... some thinking they will last to round 2... i dont think id risk it though... if nobody great falls down to us at 1.20, id start the C run...

Just not high on Nix. I would rather take Penix or to a lesser degree McCarthy...
