Adrian Peterson indicted in child injury case

what do you mean about getting hit with a switch? I'm not familiar with this way of discipline. I was hit with a belt, ruler, plastic hockey puck and hands, but not familiar with what AP is accused of.

What happened to a smack on the butt and/or send to your room? Worked for my sister, brother and me.

The Wifey is a preschool teacher and has to take a course every year on signs of child abuse. She just saw the pics and said I hope AP enjoys being labeled a child abuser because even half of what she saw would get a call to the police.

AP is gonna burn like Vick did.

But it's not always unnecessary.

I would disagree with that, but that's a debate that would go on for days, and has been had here before.

A switch is a narrow (thin) tree branch that pretty much acts as a whip. Hurts like a *****.

I was switched and belted pretty regularly by my step-father. Problem was, it was always over "yes sir, no sir...yes ma'am, no ma'am" stuff and never egregious acts...what an *******.

I thought his kid was 11...doesn't matter...he went overboard.

Anybody hits my kid, I'll kill their father.

He has 7 kids, only one of whom belongs to his wife. This one was just visiting.

Those pictures are disgusting! Any adult who thinks it's perfectly ok to do this to a kid because it was done to them as a child is a person who needs counciling and mental evaluation. Absolutely horrific! AP is a sick and twisted individual and that kid is scarred for life literally! I don't buy into the whole...."Spare the Rod, You spoil the child".

Peterson should be banned from the NFL just like Ray Rice.

You need a license to drive a car but any ******* can have a kid!

Hold on bro....Parents for the most part support spanking or some form of physical corporal punishment.... up to 80%... So dont go thinking this is rare. And theres more egregous events of kids being burned with matches, cigars, and irons...locked in bathrooms or closets for hours. Ive seen this on news reports and heard of such by an attorney that dealt with **** like this on the regular. CPS here in AZ says spanking is legal and they get folks calling and trying to report folks for spanking their children, even in public and they will reiterate to those callers that spanking is legal. Matter of fact spanking is legal in all 50 states.

Let this man discipline his kid and let police officers wrangle up more dangerous criminals..or better yet, why not go after those cats that steal billions from you, i and the rest of the public almost daily.

A switch is a very thin branch of a bush with its leaves removed thats been used since mankind existed to spank. A belt is more of a thuddy sensation whereas a switch being very very thin is more stingy and it can leave welts on the body just as a belt but with a more pronounced redness and track pattern on the skin on the more sensitive skinned individuals.

The kid claims that AP also hit him in the face and threatened to do it again.

Hit him in the face with what ? Is the report claiming a punch to the face ? Or does it suggest during this spanking session he was accidentally struck in the facial area with the switch ?

As a victim of child abuse I look at this and have mixed feelings.

I also raised two and absolutely hated to ever put my hands on a child.

I think once in a while as a parent you just have to get your point across, say for example a situation where their health is threatened by their carelessness, or a serious event that you need to make a impression. So basically it doesn't happen again. Say they steal something, etc.

At the same time a belt, a smack, a switch or two on the butt I can see reasoning for it.

But welts on the leg? Little excessive..

Also in favor of a person calming down before they dish out punishment.

Being angry a person could easily be overkill and later regret it.

Just my take on it. .

Dude this wasn't just a crack on the *** or a slap on the wrist. Those photos were taken a week after the beating of the kid. He had welts on his scrotum! Scabs all over his body from being hit with a switch. Those will become scars over time....scars he may never understand or ever be able to explain not to mention the emotional scars this kid will carry for the rest of his life. If you think that's discipline and getting your point across and that it's ok to do that to a child you are a moron! I'm sorry but you need the same type of help Peterson does if you think that's ok. AGAIN THE KID HAD WELTS ALL OVER HIS SCROTUM!!! Cmon dude!

I have no problem at all with corporal punishment. It has to administered safely correctly and calmly never done in anger and not over stupid things. It is only one form of discipline and must used wisely and in conjunction with constructive methods as well. What AP allegedly did looks like it crossed the line and might be a symptom of some serious upbringing issue for him personally. If true he needs punishment and help. He probably was brought up the same way and does not know differently and possibly has some anger or rage issue. Could be a sign of other things as well.

He hit the kid in the face and told him he'd punch him in the face if he said anything to anyone. A FOUR YEAR OLD!!!

My grandma used to have a little wooden paddle mounted on a board with this saying burned into it: "Never smack a child in the face. God provides a better place." Funny thing about Grandma; she never smacked, hit, belted or switched any of us. And my dad said she never used physical punishment on them either.

Getting hit with a switch is tantamount to being whipped. I am not sure that is discipline.

Yeah...the dude went way over the line. This is actually worse than RR imho.

I think Roger should have to get one of those trash pokers and cleans stadiums for the remainder of the season for being such a morally bankrupt imbecile.

If AP is not suspended for as long as RR, then there should be a huge public outcry.

I need the ****** to stop beating his kid so my fantasy team can win again.
******

I am all for discipline and stuff, but this kid was only 4 yrs old. I could understand if he was like 7-8 yrs old, but to switch a 4 yr old does not seem right. It will be interesting to see what he did to "deserve" the punishment. My daughter just turned 3 and I have "smacked" her butt. Not hard just a tap, and I have only done it 2-3 times. She also gets timeouts and toys/things taken away and she listens well for a 3yr old. I was never smacked, never missed school, no detentions, had good grades, always respectful for others, and yada yada. On the other hand I see kids running around this neighborhood who cant be more than 8 where every other word is F***. I have seen them mouthing off to adults and I am hoping someone clocks them. They need to go visit AP's whoopin' room for sure.

A four year old doesn't really understand why they're being hit. As someone who was beaten by his mom more than he deserved (by her own admission) my take when I had kids what that I'd never swat them more than three times and never with a weapon.

Second, and what I don't hear them mentioning on the talk shows, is that it was just last year when another child of AP's (who he didn't know existed but making more babies than you know you have is another discussion) was beaten to death by his mother's boyfriend. So you would kind of think that AP ought to be the last person to go beating four year olds with a stick and stuffing leaves in their mouth.

leaves provide roughage, which induces bowel movements.
healthy eating. good parenting.
just stop it for a few months.

My understanding is that the kid was four. In what world would hitting a four year old like that with a stick be discipline. It would be abuse at any age, but A four year old can't possibly fully understand right and wrong anyhow, accept at the most basic level. Jail for you AP, and no way possibly he should be allowed to play this weekend. No way.

I highly doubt AP will get the Indefinite suspension being one of the Top Players in the NFL.
