Attorney General Jeff Sessions repeats 'lock her up' chant

Washington (CNN) — Attorney General Jeff Sessions, the top law enforcement officer in the country, participated in a chant of "Lock her up" Tuesday, reviving a rallying cry from Donald Trump campaign events calling to jail Hillary Clinton.

Sessions was addressing a conservative group's high school leadership summit in Washington, where he promoted free speech and conservative principles.

Then chants of "Lock her up" broke out.

"Lock her up," Sessions said, chuckling at the brief interruption from the audience as the chant then grew louder.

"I heard that a long time over the last campaign," he said before continuing with his prepared speech.

James Clapper: 'Obama Is Responsible' for Starting Trump/Russia Investigations

Former Director of National Intelligence (DNI) James Clapper let slip on CNN who was behind the ongoing investigations into Donald Trump and his associates.

In an attempt to defend his former boss from accusations he did nothing in response to Russia's election meddling, Clapper bragged that Obama was behind the "whole sequence of events which are still unfolding today." This would seem to include spying on the Trump campaign.

Clapper told CNN's Anderson Cooper:

One point I'd like to make, Anderson, that I don't think has come up very much before, and I'm alluding now to the President's criticism of President Obama for all that he did or didn't do before he left office with respect to the Russian meddling.

If it weren't for President Obama, we might not have done the intelligence community assessment that we did that set off a whole sequence of events which are still unfolding today, notably, special counsel Mueller's investigation.

President Obama is responsible for that, and it was he who tasked us to do that intelligence community assess in the first place. I think that's an important point when it comes to critiquing President Obama.

I think this is largely symbolic. While I agree that something needs to be done about this nonsense of withholding information from congress, I am not sure congress as a whole has the stomach to do the right thing. It just isn't in their DNA. I mean, yeah this looks and sounds great, but I doubt it comes to anything substantive.

Our governments check and balances are being circumvented due to political grandstanding with flat out lies after lies due to partisan politics..

Our judiciary and intelligence systems are broken, our politicians (including the POTUS) are about protecting their own personal standing, and don't give an rates *** about the country,

Our president is hit almost daily with a new accusations, scandals, and so much personal and political controversy, that I dont know how he possible can deal with al that, and still effectively run the most powerful nation in the world.

Foreign governments are infiltrating our democracy by influencing elections through social media and other venues.

Our protection institutions (local and state police, Immigration Control agents, etc) are being challenged, criticized/protested against daily, and a segment of our society wants to actually abolished them!

Non-citizens are being given the right to vote in elections..

Once the economy starts to turn and worsen....resentments, prejudices, and hatred will turn into physical confrontations..

Unfortunately, I think its time to seriously think about our own personal and family protections....

Obama administration knowingly funded Al-Qaeda affiliate [Islamic Relief Agency]

The Obama administration approved a grant of $200,000 of taxpayer money to an al-Qaeda affiliate in Sudan, the Middle East Forum (MEF) discovered.

The grant was approved ten years after the US Treasury designated the Islamic Relief Agency (ISRA) as an organization which funds terrorists.

Government officials also authorized the release of at least $115,000 of the grant after they realized that the Khartoum-based ISRA was on the Treasury’s list of terror organizations.

ISRA, also known as the Islamic African Relief Agency (IARA), was designated as terror-supporting organization in October 2004, due to its connection with Osama bin Laden and his terror organizations Maktab al-Khidamat (MK) and Al-Qaeda, MEF reported.

According to the Treasury, ISRA began cooperating with MK in 1997, raising $5 million for the terror group by 2000. In 2003, ISRA raised money to help fund Hamas suicide bombings.

Meadows backs off impeaching Rosenstein after leadership talks

Rep. Mark Meadows (R-N.C.) says he is tabling his efforts to impeach Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein after having several meetings with Republican leadership, stating that they would instead pursue contempt if Justice Department (DOJ) turn over documents Congress is seeking.

While the impeachment option remains on the table, Meadows told reporters Tuesday, he now hopes it will be a contempt process rather than impeachment.

When asked if he does not receive the documents they are seeking by the time the House returns from August recess, Meadows said, "I think the very first order of business would moving the House to a contempt vote."

"I think it is our desire to have more of a contempt process, which obviously has to have a partner with the speaker and I think hopefully they will at least acknowledge we've made some reasonable concessions to give DOJ and FBI," Meadows said
