Baltimore Police Department

I got a couple friends down here that came from Baltimore and they don't even like going home to visit. They say it gets worse every year and they can't see how people can live in conditions like that. The gun shots and sirens are continuous at night in sections of the city.

Sounds pretty shady. I'm guessing in Baltimore it wouldn't be too hard for the powers-that-be to find a couple gang bangers who would be happy to wipe out someone so they couldn't testify. They certainly wouldn't have to look too hard in that city.

That place is a hellhole. You couldn't pay me enough to live in that city. I used to make trips from North Florida to just south of Philly into New Jersey. The hellhole alley D.C, to Baltimore to Philly...ugh. I always flipped off the Ratbirds stadium while driving by though..ha!

My first cousin who is a sales rep got jumped, beaten and stabbed while changing a flat tire in Baltimore. Lucky for him he came around enough after being clocked in the back of the head to fight them off enough for them to leave. But not before being stabbed in the leg ,arm and upper chest. He told me he knew it was serious when he saw blood squirting out of his upper chest. He has a concealed weapons permit, but of course you can't carry in that **** hole. Baltimore and Chicago should just be burned to the ground and just start over... Keep voting democrat and that's the ****** city you get.

Only two things worthwhile about that shithole.

Homicide: life on the streets
The Wire

try to guess why I left the Dems strongholds to move to Wyoming. You get three chances.

As we learned after the Freddy Gray incident, Baltimore is almost entirely run by blacks and Democrats so I don't want to hear about their problems. The problem is in your house. Fix your ****.

Bingo! Stand in the mirror and fix your ****!

You people have a lot to say that don't live there. No issue in Canton, or Fells, or Fed Hill, or Harbor East, or Inner Harbor.

Get up around North Ave, and you'll hit some problem areas. It's where my college band used to rent practice space. I've walked from North down through the Baltimore School for the arts, down to the harbor. No issue. I walk MLK and BCCC campus. No issue. Played shows west of Saint Paul's St, no issue.

I know the city well. It ain't a political thing, it's a corruption thing. Reps, Dems, don't matter they are all on the take, and only good people can fix this problem. Only downside, is there aren't enough good people to make a difference right now.

You say, "Reps, Dems, don't matter..", who are the republicans in Baltimore that are contributing to the problem? Can you name them?

You were talking out of your *** here. Unmitigated horseshit. I have spent quite a bit of time in Baltimore because in spite of being run by criminally incompetent and corrupt Democrats quite a bit of commerce goes through the port in Baltimore. Part of the instructions by the company I used to work for included instructions on not leaving the truck unattended or taking your mandatory 10 hour break inside Baltimore city limits because of the crime for any pick up or delivery made. And there was an article not long ago about crime and gang activity spreading into the inner Harbor area and the suburbs. And this all stems from Democrats destroying the black family in order to create a welfare dependent of voting block that keeps selecting them to power.

I lived in between Baltimore and DC for a short period about 23 years ago. I've never met so many miserable people in my life. I already mentioned about my cousin. I actually feel bad for anyone who has to live in that.

If I recall correctly, I remember hearing back during the riots that a Republican hasn't been on the city council since 1964 and the last Republican mayor was in 1960.

I don't deny that there is corruption involved but to lump "Reps" into the equation in the City of Baltimore completely destroys your credibility Cope.

That is the problem, the inability to think outside of party lines and causing anti division against another party simply for being the other party. There are good people on both sides, working to improve their community, and there is corruption on both sides looking to line their pockets. There was a lot of turnover on the city council this year, so hopefully the influx of youth can help to make better laws for the city. Plenty of Reps serve and are respected in judiciary, and they do their job very well balancing laws and enforcing constitutionality.

My mother is 5'2" and about 100lbs. She works every day on MLK as the Director of Bio-Tech at CCBC. She started the first Bio-Tech program in the State of Maryland, and you know what that does? It provides a direct path from the poor inner city districts to great paying careers. She's been doing it for 20 years, about 10 on MLK, and that area has changed. Imagine growing up, being stuck in your crappy neighborhood with little opportunity for advancement. Then there's a new high rise built in your community, that all can now see. Over the years, people in your community are working hard at that highrise, and are able to get great jobs. Now the community mindset changes about their home, and they now see and have a direct path to higher socio-economic status. That is why MLK has changed in Baltimore city.

My mother lives and works in Baltimore. Her tiny frame doesn't get her robbed or beaten. It gets her hugs from the families she has helped and educated directly, and she is well known and respected for her hard work. She's out there trying to improve people's lives daily. If I was a Dem, I could point and say look what the Dems did, getting money and funding to build a school on MLK to improve the community, but I'm not naive. Politics are a tool to get things done, thanks for the funding for the building Dems, but they did nothing physical to improve the area. The hard work of real people in the community does that.

Again, there are no elected Republicans in Baltimore city government and haven't been for a long long time. When a city has been run for decades by Democrats you get Baltimore, Chicago, Detroit, New Orleans, any number of crime and corruption ridden shitholes you care to name. Pittsburgh is a relatively safe city but a number of people in the Federal government have said it's the most corrupt city they've seen.

From Wikipedia:

Baltimore has been a Democratic stronghold for over 150 years, with Democrats dominating every level of government. In virtually all elections, the Democratic primary is the real contest.[211] No Republican has won election to the city council since 1939, and no Republican has won the mayor's race since 1963.

That sounds like a Democrat run city to me.

I commend your mother's hard work and tenacity for good Cope and certainly respect her ability to stay the course after 20 years of what must have been a very hard row to hoe. Truth is, the powers that be, which I can assume from you recognizing the obvious corruption, that there are those in the community that can see a good amongst the bad. Problem is, there are not enough as yet to make a glaring difference and as long as the Democrats have the basic premises of socialism as their base, things will not change until the people that are directly effected wake up and demand change.

This is not a challenge of Dems vs Reps...it is an ongoing mantra of Democrat Party vs the people. The constant vitriol of black vs white, capitalism vs socialism, women vs men, lbgt vs straight, atheist vs Christian and new classes of oppressed people are being invented every day.

Maybe accusing Democrats is a bit harsh. The real culprit would be the Liberals.in the Democrat Party.

What you need to fix Baltimore and other similar cesspool cities is Conservatism and Conservative values. However I assume in Baltimore, just like Pittsburgh, the only elections of any consequence are the Democrat primary were everyone is trying to out-Democrat each other. A Republican isn't going to win and a Democrat running in the primary on a platform of economic growth and law enforcement instead of grievance politics and wealth redistribution will lose for sure. During the Freddie Gray riots the black Democrat mayor told the police to stand down and "let the the people work out their frustration", and afterward the black Democrat D.A. way overcharged the police officers (most of whom were black) to give the peoples the "social justice" they demanded and lost every case. When the social justice warriors take over the local government, this is what you get. The situation probably will never be fixed since people only know to vote Democrat and white men, Conservative values, and law enforcement have been so demonized by the Left and Democrats that they can't really reverse course. NYC residents eventually got fed up enough to elect Rudy Giuliani so change is indeed possible but the last two mayors of NYC have been busy undoing everything Rudy fixed and it's heading back to being a hellhole again.

So Pittsburgh is a cesspool? Amazon and LG don’t seem to think so. Neither do all the rankings that consistently have Pittsburgh as one of the most livable cities in the country.

You couldn’t begin to back up your claim about NYC with statistics. It’s on track to have record low crime rates in 2017.

I haven't lived there for a long long time Trog but I know better than to take them stats seriously. here's another opinion.

Did you know?

The overall crime rate in Pittsburgh is 43% higher than the national average.
For every 100,000 people, there are 11.08 daily crimes that occur in Pittsburgh.
Pittsburgh is safer than 9% of the cities in the United States.
In Pittsburgh you have a 1 in 25 chance of becoming a victim of any crime.
The number of total year over year crimes in Pittsburgh has increased by 3%.

I said earlier that Pittsburgh is relatively safe compared to most big cities but I know you don't read very well.

The current and previous mayors are undoing a lot of what Rudy fixed. It won't take long.
