Took a trip to Texas to see my brother the year before. My parents had moved to Cleveland (of all places) from CA a while back, went to see them a few times, as well as trips to the 'Burgh, NY, Philly, and back home to CA. Since I've been out here, I've tried to get back every other year or so, depending on finances. Early on, I travelled more frequently, when I worked for a company based in DC.

Other than that, perfectly happy to be living and working in Europe, particularly these last four years. Seeing what's happened to the American psyche hasn't been pretty. The effect of Trumpism, the way we behave and interact, has been profound. None more evident than right here on this board. More than anything, the utter hypocrisy of the Trump base has been breathtaking. If Barry had done 0.1% of the crap Trump does on a daily basis, this place would have gone haywire. It's like you've all been blinded by the glow of the fake orange tan.

Hope things get back to normal in 2024, or whenever Trump gets airlifted - like an tranquilized hippo - out of the WH.

Also, Mark Levin said he believes that the entire mass-mail thing is a scheme to overwhelm the system. Registrars can handle a certain percentage of absentee ballots sent by mail, check the signatures, etc., but once that number reaches more than 20%, the system collapses. Levin says that is the plan - to collapse the system and argue the election before a sympathetic judge.

Richmond, VA _ The Virginia Department of Elections says it has no affiliation with a group that recently sent ballot applications to state residents, no does it coordinate with any third party groups on campaign efforts.
In a statement the department says The Center for Voter Information recently mailed absentee ballot applications to Virginia residents.
"We are aware that voters in multiple localities that received an absentee ballot application were given pre-paid return envelopes addressed to the incorrect registrar’s office," said the elections department.
The Department of Elections is encouraging voters who would like to receive an absentee ballot for the November election to apply electronically on their website.
The department says that any applications that arrive in the wrong locality's office will be forwarded immediately to the correct office for processing.
If you have already applied for an absentee ballot, you do not need to submit a new application. The first day that absentee ballots will be mailed is September 18, 2020. The department says inquiries regarding the mailing in question should be directed to the Center for Voter Information.

The New York City Board of Elections disqualified 84,208 vote-by-mail ballots — 26% of the total cast — in the June 23 Democratic presidential primary, according to a report cited Wednesday evening by the New York Post.

The Post reported:

The city BOE received 403,213 mail-in ballots for the June 23 Democratic presidential primary. But the certified results released Wednesday revealed that only 318,995 mail-in ballots were counted. That’s means 84,208 ballots were not counted or invalidated — 26 percent of the total.

One out of four mail-in ballots were disqualified for arriving late, lacking a postmark or failing to include a voter’s signature, or other defects.

Votes are still being counted from the June 23 primary, where several close elections were only decided weeks later.

Earlier on Wednesday, Rep. Carolyn Maloney (D-NY) declared victory — more than six weeks later — over her primary challenger.

New York State encouraged voters to vote by mail rather than in person, citing the risk of coronavirus. Nearly 2 million voters statewide requested mail-in ballots, and the system was overwhelmed, according to an earlier report by NBC-4 New York that described “a tidal wave of absentee ballots that overwhelmed a system which typically handles only around 5% of the vote,” and fears of “disenfranchisement.”
