Bell is a greedy, stupid idiot....

Instead of sitting on a couch, I assume he is training harder than anyone in camp. Bell wants to show the league he is the best back this year. He's not half assing his approach to this season.

I have a tendency to agree with you and I might add as well that L.Bell will not test positive this season. To much riding on outcome and I truely do think he has matured enough to know when to say when...........

I still think he should be at camp.

Salute the nation

Because he isnt obligated too..no one likes camp. Lol

Lol. We already established he wouldn't be doing much at camp coming back from off season surgery. So try again. Now it's being reported he will show up after the 3rd preseason game. Why? Camp sucks and he is training harder than anyone else has ever trained before. He should be able to skip camp right up to the last possible minute.

this topic is making it's circular rounds of discussion.

I don't want him in camp because of his physical conditioning.

I want him in camp working on the new plays and getting cohesive with the team in practice.

I would care less if he plays in any preseason games.

But Mr.15 million per year can have his *** in camp preparing for the season.

I knew Tomlin wouldn't play him coming off surgery. But it would be nice to know he is going over the playbook with his teammates.

No matter how you spin it this is money driven, and it stinks.

Its not about doing much. Its about i dont have to go period until i sign the tender. If owners didnt like it or want it they should of not allowed into the CBA. Eric Berry did the exact same thing last year. He didnt attend camp because most veteran players hate it.

As far as new plays Ben has already said the RB Coach is communication with Bell about new stuff they have installed

there is what he can do

and there is what he should do

he isn't doing what he should do

I do like your point Slash, of learning and understanding the new plays. Then running them with the team for cohesion. It makes sense.

I also know new plays are added all year with a week to prepare, so I'm not worried at implementing them. He's going to lose out on 1-2 total quarters of preseason game action. I don't think that will affect the team week 1. I personally think only QBs need the reps to get into shape, but that's my personal opinion.

so we know the new plays added in the offseason = what they add per week?

not sure that is what takes place

but you tell me

you have a week to prepare

or a month to prepare which time frame will you be sharper?

We are talking about Bell right. Unfortunately we have seen him miss alot of time and then come in and not miss a beat.

I remember a AFC championship the team being surprised by the speed of what hit them.

And they damn sure didn't act like they were a cohesive unit.

Then you had a Atlanta preseason performance they weren't in sync - by their own admission.

Yeah I know what he can do, I want his *** in camp, giving it the best team effort possible.

Been a while since that last SB victory. Perhaps it is time for everyone to be on the same page, and have plenty of time to do so.

I bet he fumbles his first game he plays. You can't simulate tackling and hits unless you're on the field

Of course I don't know what they added, but I do know that teams game plan each and every week to their opponent. And in that week, they can add 2-3 more plays and work on them. That's what my high school teams would do, so I assume the pros can do that as well.

The only thing that would **** Bell is if they change systems. Say they do a run and shoot this year. 4 WR set with Bell as the lone RB. That would slow development down a bit. I am one person though, that wouldn't be surprised it we moved to the K-Gun this year. We have the personnel to run it.

I get what you are saying about Bell on his play when he returns....but there is something about putting team first. Bell wouldn't be doing much if anything if he was here....so you might be saying then what is the big deal? Well it's called team CAMARADERIE.

Woke up this am to this story:

Steelers' Bell tweets he'll return to team on Sept. 1

Le'Veon Bell's holdout apparently has a predetermined expiry date.

The Steelers' star running back responded to a Twitter user Tuesday, tacitly admitting that he'd return to the club on September 1.

It should be noted that Bell's winking emoji makes it hard to determine if he's being serious about his return.

Bell has yet to sign his franchise tender that will pay him $12.1 million for the upcoming season, the highest figure for any running back in the NFL.

If Bell is to be taken seriously, this is a fantastic development for the Steelers organization, who are intent on unseating the New England Patriots in the AFC.

Read this on the line; I suppose this makes sense and is in line with a lot of the fan analysis here at SN, but I wonder why he adds the coy reply with an emoji. Hell, guess it doesn't matter as long as he comes back and is ready to play / win 19 games.

Wonder if that is when he signs his tag, or the day he suits up with the team, or both?

He'll come late and they'll play him in the first game only to watch him get a stupid injury that will keep him out 3 or 4 weeks.

PITTSBURGH -- Le'Veon Bell hasn't lost favor with his quarterback despite missing nearly a month of preseason work and counting.

Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger said Wednesday that he has no bitterness toward Bell, who tweeted Tuesday night that he will return to the team Sept. 1. Bell has yet to sign his $12.1-million franchise tender and is training in South Florida while the team prepares for the Indianapolis Colts on Saturday night.

"We will be ready for [Bell] whenever he gets here," Roethlisberger said. "We always want our guys here. But he didn't have to be here. So, we want him here because he's an amazing football player and he helps this team. So, when he gets here, hopefully it won't take him long to get into football shape."

Roethlisberger said he knows Bell always stays in good shape but preparing for the physicality of the game is something different. The Steelers will likely be off Sept. 1-3 after the final preseason game, then will begin preparations for the Cleveland Browns around Labor Day.

The Steelers could use one of their padded practices for that first regular-season week.

The offense has new wrinkles that Bell must learn, but Roethlisberger said Bell is a quick study. Reserve backs James Conner, Fitzgerald Toussaint and Knile Davis must be ready just in case.

"He's a physical back -- it's a violent sport. The running back position takes a beating," Roethlisberger said. "So we just have to hope the other guys are ready to go if he needs to be spelled ... If he just comes back, I don't know if he'll be ready to play every single play like he does typically during the season. So we're going to have to have other guys ready to give him breaks."

ESPN reported Sunday that Bell had made plans to miss Week 3 of the preseason, and one teammate said privately that he expected Bell to return shortly before Browns week.

Roethlisberger said he understands the business side of football is keeping Bell away. The Steelers and Bell couldn't reach a long-term agreement before the July 17 deadline for franchise players. Roethlisberger said he's hoping Bell responds to a text message from him.

"There's no hard feelings," Roethlisberger said.

What did you expect Ben to say after Bryant had his sit down with Ben man to man... Bell is a grown man. Ben best watch what he says.

I don't know why that is a fear.

Didn't he miss the first 3 games last year when he was also prevented from working out with the team due to the suspension? And didn't he return in week 4 and ring up 144 yards on 18 carries?

once Bell signs his franchise tender can he be traded?

It's more a thing that he tends to get hurt and end up on IR every year.

Because every other RB would of taken the hits the bengals gave and hopped right up

Nice to see Vader still following the Steelers. Tweets over posts for him I guess...

Thats not the same Vader that used to post here, first the Twitter is from a female user, second Vader wouldnt be all jiggly about bell being available for fantasy football, instead of worried about helping the Steelers
