Ben Tate to visit Steelers

That's not speculation, that's observation. Speculation is a projection of unknown future events. If you wait until those events happen, you are not speculating any more.

Yes you are because you're still guessing. Unless you're talking to the guys making the decisions you're guessing.

They should of done this a few weeks ago..

We would be set for Saturday...Don't know why we didn't then...

Timing is everything, and we misssed the boat...

We should now go with what we got..

Well, we got two RBs, we need a third.......................

Or, and this is just a thought ... the plan is to go with Harris as the starter and they want Tate there as an emergency "just in case". That way they don't have to entertain the possibility of putting Archer in at all.

Vision, truely glorious!!! I feel you are correct and appreciate your pointing this out. (compliment)

This is a move should have been done while ago - maybe not necessarily Tate but a vet RB for exactly this - plus to spell Bell. Heck where is Issac Redman or Johnathon Dwyer when need them?

Dwyer, is up on domestic abuse charges. You want a piece of that?

Easier to speculate, after the fact...................... That's what this world is coming to, easy!!!!! Hindsight, is now taken as foresight, that way your never wrong. Heaven forbid, to speculate and possible be wrong.

Maybe, just maybe, they like to have three RBs active on game day. Now with Bell hurt, maybe they decided to make a move early rather than wait to see if he can play on Sat. And maybe, possibly, they thought Tate was a better option for that spot than the RB they have on the practice squad.

I just don't see Tate being brought in to start. Could it happen? yes. Is it probable? I don't think so.

Harris would start and Tate would be the back-up. There is no way someone from off the street could be expected to be put into a situation like a PO game against BAL and be effective. If Tate got 3-6 carries, I'd be shocked.

You need another back. Archer wasnt drafted to be the every down back. You need a true RB behind Harris if Bell is not going to play at all.

Bingo. And viewed in that prism, the move (if it's made) is a solid decision to add veteran depth for this game rather than reach down to the practice squad and promote .... wait, what's his name ... oh yeah ... Ladarius Perkins (undrafted ROOKIE 5-10/195).

Anyone want to throw Ladarius out there as a back-up in the event Harris gets hurt? In the playoffs. Against the Ravens. Ladarius Perkins.

Yes you are because you're still guessing. Unless you're talking to the guys making the decisions you're guessing.

But once things happen, there's very little guessing left to do. Either he'll come in and start, or he won't. There's no point guessing about whether he was brought in to start or not once we already know if he starts.

Speculation: "I think it will rain on Thursday."

Observation: "It's Thursday, and it's raining."

Your moronic suggestion: "It's Thursday, it's raining, and I wonder if I'll get wet?"

If he starts do you know why he is he starting? Or are you guessing the reason why?

You and your Logic have no place here sir!!!

As for why Tate wasn't brought in sooner. Does anyone remember that the Steelers did "due diligence" on him when he was released by the Browns and Blount was released here?

http://fantasy.usatoday.com/news/interested-in-ben-tate

He chose instead to meet with the Vikings and ultimately received a contract. He stayed with the Vikings until December 23 (one week ago).

Bell got hurt 2 days ago and Tate is being brought in. It's not like they could have signed him from the Vikings when he was under contract with them.

it's just not Tate who could have been brought in. I'd like to know who was on their short list and chose Harris.

What does it matter? Do we also want to know what he had for breakfast that day? The only real question worth asking is whether the intent is for him to start on Saturday or not. Whatever happens on Saturday, we'll know whether he started or not. That should fairly well answer the question. If he doesn't start, I can go on living without certain knowledge whether it was because Tate starting was never the plan, or it was because he couldn't show enough in limited practice to prove he was ready for the start.

For someone who is telling everyone to stop the rampant speculation, you sure seem to be doing a ******* lot of it yourself.

This makes way to much sense, someone here, knows what they are talking about. Next thing you know, it'll go to his head.

My "rampant speculation" was in response to those saying he was brought in because Harris sucks or Bell is more hurt then they are letting on. That the Front office is idiots for not bringing someone in earlier. That they ran the wheels off Bell. We need a third back simple move.

Holy ******* ****. I'm losing testosterone just reading this puss-fest. I can't believe how many goddamn crybabies now inhabit this place. Depressing.

We may never know the answer to that. At the time I believe that some on here advocated bring back Larod Stevens-Howling. Michael Bush, Tashard Choice and Willis McGahee were also available. It's telling that while other teams needed RBs at that time (Indy comes to mind) none of those guys were signed by them.

It could have been as simple as they were interested in Tate and when he signed with the Vikings, they thought it was better to go with the RB (Harris) who they had with them since training camp. Now with Bell hurt, they need a fill in third RB for at least this week and Tate is available.

Hell, I haven't heard that they've signed him yet, so all of this may be kinda putting the cart before the horse anyway.

But it's still a question worth asking (now, as opposed to after the game) whether Ben Tate, an experienced back, starts ahead of two rookies (assuming we sign him). That question is not what I would call "rampant speculation" though. That's the only question I'm interested in getting an answer to.

LOL, I consider it a slow Ravens Playoff Week.

Not as hard for a running back. Tell him where the hole is suppose to be and according to so many here, our line sucks so bad, run forest run......

Can he pick up a block and see a delayed blitz coming to save Ben? He was always known for his blocking. Do you trust a rookie splinter or another rookie who has gotten even less time?

He also has hands out of the backfield and i think is smart enough a veteran to know who to help out his QB

To quote Spike.....5 Wide *******.

Spaeth or Adams may be in game an awful lot as 3rd tackle

I think this too. I also wonder if we might not see a return of the no huddle to wear down that Baltimore front 7.

Harris will get the nod. Anybody that gets signed will be a backup especially for the Rats game. I think Harris has been Tomlins ace in the hole for this type of situation and Josh Harris knows this is his shot.

Fu is available. He's coaching, but could be persuaded.

Dwyer can't leave the state of Arizona, I believe.
