Done. That single sentence would have kept Thomas Eric Duncan, a Liberian who had carried an Ebola sufferer back into her home after she was turned away at a hospital, out of Dallas. While he lied on an airport questionnaire about whether he had had contact with anyone suffering the disease, and while hospital workers blundered badly even though they knew he has been in Liberia, the bottom line is Duncan would not have been in America had the president banned visitors from Ebola-stricken countries. Simple.

Many African countries have instituted such bans, and most Americans think such a ban would be a good idea, according to a recent survey. But Team Obama and his band of incompetent minions argue that shutting off flights from affected countries would “harm” the economy. Absurd.

My friend's wife is a nurse and spokesperson for one of the hospitals here. 2 weeks ago she went to Philly for a conference on Ebola. The hospitals, all across the nation, are completely unprepared for this. Emory in ATL is probably the only one partially equipped.

Well, in fairness it would hurt the economy if we stopped flights with 3 or 4 third world countries. Maybe to the tune of hundreds of thousands of dollars! A few healthcare workers lives is a small price to pay to keep the economy limping along. 911 emergency dispatchers in New York have been instructed not to use the work 'Ebola' over the radio.

According to the New York Post, officials made the decision in an effort to minimize fear and panic since the radio channels are often monitored by civilians and the media.

The Post reports that dispatchers have been instructed to use the code ‘F/T' when discussing callers that have a fever and have a history of travel to West Africa.

The "Protocol Supervisor" for the Amber Vincent transport flight to Emory wore no protective gear at all.

“Our medical professionals in the biohazard suits have limited vision and mobility and it is the protocol supervisor’s job to watch each person carefully and give them verbal directions to ensure no close-contact protocols are violated,” a Phoenix Air representative told ABC News. “There is absolutely no problem with this and in fact [e]nsures an even higher level of safety for all involved.”

The level of incompatince is just astounding. The dead guys family is quarentiend because they had contact and may possibly become infected. The health care staff is protected by magic dust so they can come and go as they please, since they have no chance of becoming infected.

At a minimum, the health care staff should be isolated untill the patient dies or is no longer infected + 30 days. Once you go in, you do not come out until the magic number of days is reached. Also, why the **** are we sending infected people to different locations? Keep them in one place, just incase we have to burn it to the ground.

My best friend lives in the Ft. Worth area. She texted me today telling me that 3 families in her school district (she works at an elementary school and her son goes to a different school) were on that flight from Cleveland to Dallas. While the 3 families don't go to either of the schools she's associated with, the families voluntarily have quarantined themselves until the danger has passed. She (best friend) is terrified now.
