Flores suing the NFL, alleges racism in coaching hiring practices.

And that pretty much sums it up. Because he likes coaching and because of his minority status, he believes he was entitled to a position. Club owners weren't impressed and ultimately went with candidates who they thought were better. As a result of him being bitter, we're witnessing the race card being played.

I think his suit will be panned quickly and rightfully so. After that happens, maybe Kaepernick can get him a cameo on his next social justice Nike commercial.

ARMANDO SALGUERO: BRIAN FLORES CLAIMS RACIAL DISCRIMINATION IN NFL HIRING PRACTICES, SO LET’S EXAMINE HIS HIRING PRACTICES

“In his CBS interview [Wednesday], Mr. Flores was asked if ‘clubs have the right to hire the person they think is the best qualified for the job or the person they feel is right for them?’ Mr. Flores responded, ‘They do. That’s very reasonable to me…’ That is exactly what we did.”

In his suit, Flores is, in part, calling out the NFL’s hiring practices because black coaches have not been hired at a rate proportional to the NFL’s percentage of black players.

The coincidence in this is Flores himself was in a position to hire coaches during his three-year tenure as coach of the Dolphins. And his record hiring minorities is not stellar.

Consider:

Flores had 20 coaches on his 2021 coaching staff, with 15 of those white and five black.

Flores hired four offensive coordinators during his time with the Dolphins, including co-coordinators in 2021. Three of those four are white.

Flores hired four offensive line coaches during his tenure, and three of those four are white.

Flores hired two defensive coordinators during his time as head coach, one black and one white.

Flores hired four quarterback or assistant quarterback coaches during his three years, and three of those four are white, with Jim Caldwell the only exception. Caldwell, it should be noted, worked under Flores for a couple of months but departed before the 2019 season began, citing health issues.

Flores hired one special teams coordinator during his time as coach, that being Danny Crossman, who is white.

Maybe the coach claiming the NFL’s hiring practices are unfair should have addressed his own first.

What makes you so sure that anything Flores is saying is true? He has made a bunch of allegations and accusations. That's it. And everyone just assumes he's telling the truth because Roger Goodell and Bill Belichick and the NFL is rigged and we hate that.

questioning his story would be a bad career move for anybody in media.

Ex-Eagles coach Duce Staley throws shade on Brian Flores "sham interview" claims

Former Eagles assistant head coach and running backs coach Duce Staley interviewed twice to become the team’s head coach before leaving to take a position with the Detroit Lions. Now, acting as a head coach for Saturday’s Senior Bowl, Staley is speaking out about his interview experiences.

According to Philadelphia Inquirer Eagles reporter Jeff McLane, Staley, who is Black, said he did not feel as if his meetings were just to satisfy the Rooney Rule’s requirement to interview a minority head coach. Staley added that he would take every interview opportunity presented to him.

“It’s a tough situation, a tough situation for everybody,” Staley said. “I was asked the question if I felt that happened to me, and 100%, no, it did not. I value that interview and knowing what I know now. If I had to do it all over again, I’d do it all over again.”

Sounds like Flores is making enemies. Will he be the one to spill all the secrets of the nfl?

Stephen A. Smith Thinks Mike Tomlin Would Have Been Fired If He Were Anywhere But Pittsburgh

ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith thinks that Mike Tomlin is lucky to be in Pittsburgh due to how the organization is.

Smith posted a video to his Twitter account on Friday afternoon to explain his reasoning for why Tomlin would be fired by now if he were anywhere but Pittsburgh.

“Does anybody doubt that if Mike Tomlin was not in Pittsburgh, would he be a head coach in the NFL right now? He would have been fired,” Smith said. “Tomlin would’ve been gone because he’s been on the hot seat before. Mike Tomlin, one could easily argue, if he were not in Pittsburgh, he would’ve lost his job already.”

Right now, he doesn’t look to be in any danger of losing his job after leading the Steelers to the playoffs this season when things looked dire.

Tomlin will be overseeing a brand new era of Steelers football with Ben Roethlisberger out of the picture. He’ll have his shot at picking his own franchise quarterback for the first time.

He coached with the giants for a lot of years so he probably has contacts there that told him Daboll was the guy.
Didn’t it seem obvious from the start of the process Daboll was a favorite there? No inside information needed. Too many dots to connect and they wanted a guy with a proven track record with a young QB to get something out of Daniel Jones or a rookie if they go that direction this year.

it is obvious that Daboll was the guy. Look at the coaches being hired. Offensive guys who work with QBs. I think teams are making mistakes in generally by hiring coaches that are too young and inexperienced. It used to be that when you looked at an NFL sideline you saw not only an older HC but the coordinators were older and more experienced as well.

What happens now is you have so many coaches that only know a sliver of football. They know the one system they were taught and not much else. So when something isn't working they don't have a plan B.

I assume if a team interviews Eric Bienemy or Byron Leftwich and wants to hire them, they are not required to interview anyone else. Is this correct?

Correct. Accusations of systemic racism are only in play when a minority candidate isn't interviewed or hired.

I don’t disagree with Steve A Smith that he would have been fired…but Tomlin would have a job with another team in less then a week.

Would he get ten plus years of mediocrecy before the next team fired him ???

NO hot seat like he has here?

That's exactly right. Tomlin would immediately get a new job unless he didn't want it. Lots of coach contracts are guaranteed unless they get another HC job. That's why so many do a year of TV and then take another job. They draw 2 paychecks and wait for the right job offer.

They talk about teams just hiring the same white guys but pretty much every black HC i can think of has also gotten a second chance. Dennis Green, Dungy, Lovie Smith, Jim Caldwell, Herm edwards, Anthony Lynn, I believe they all got second HC jobs in the NFL. Did Art Shell get a second HC job? I don't feel like looking it up.

Raheem Morris is the only black HC i can think of that didn't get a second HC job in the NFL. He may get a second shot someday.

I bet Flores would have gotten a new job this cycle if not for this distraction. He still might too.
