Actually it's .1%, not .01% which is unsurprising considering the low percentage of atheists in the general population. The percentage of Christians in prison also mirrors the percentage in the general population.

I'll tell you what's more surprising...that Muslims comprise 8.4% of prisoners yet only .6% of the general population. And that 80% of people who convert to religion while in jail convert to Islam...quite a lot of recruiting going on among criminals.
