Free agency news thread

This move tells me we are drafting at least one CB very high. Peterson is stop gap.
Yep force a corner high and not take a true BPA.

Peterson five years ago would have been great but this guy will be 33 in July. Best years way behind him.
So Peezy’s kid at 17 most likely. I hope they didn’t overpay for Peterson.
I would rather have signed Sutton.

Oh, no question. I don't feel better now than when free agency began. I'm just saying he had a decent season but not thrilled.
And the two before that not so great. Think we are going to get lucky rolling that dice?

They are stuck in their ways of doing things. They have to be aggressive to improve. Mediocre Monday isn't improving.
Why don't we wait and see what happens rather than running around like Chickens little 4 hours into the first day of Free agency. At least wait until the draft. Lol the angst is quite amusing though.

There was plenty of things they could have done. **** restructuring TJ would have been more than enough. I do have an idea how aggressive they weren't they ******* showed it. They did 1 cut pre free agency and did nothing else. That is ******* obvious. Debate fine but don't try to blow smoke up my ***.

Look around the league and see what the better teams are doing then look at the same old ho hum approach the Steelers are doing.

Again not good enough by far.
What the better teams are doing?

Eagles let Hargrave leave.
Chiefs are letting Orland Brown leave and already released Frank Clark.

If the draft goes as expected, I think there are very few scenarios where the BPA wouldn't be a cornerback. There's a pretty good chance Porter, Banks, or Branch will be there and any are good value at 1.17. I'm assuming the top 3 OTs will be gone, Bresee is a ?, and Van Ness seems more of an EDGE than DL in the Steelers system.

I'm a bit disappointed Sutton is gone. It's yet another young player the Steelers didn't retain long-term. I know he technically earned a second contract, but it was short term. Like Hilton, the Steelers lost a versatile player.

Chiefs made good signings already signed a solid T, 49ers made good signings.

I hope you are right. But if things are equal they probably take a corner over a DE and T right? Not what I ultimately envisioned.

That’s right, but you’re talking about the 80’s and 90’s before the current stadium was built and before more revenue was added from it.
When Heinz Field was built the team started retaining their own players.
The salary cap has been around the entire time. If stadium revenue was a valid excuse then, it certainly is now. Heinz Field is way down the list.

Wait on what? They downgraded their corner I don't have to wait for anything.

Replacing a good corner is such an easy task right? Focusing more on one area again makes them focus less on the trenches.

Want to know what isn't amusing? Not winning playoff games year after year. Maybe I want more. Think that is ok? I do.

The Peterson signing was announced moments before the Dean signing. Probably coincidental but I'm interested in what these signings cost. If Dean's is substantially more, no issues and he may have wanted to return to Tampa all along but I sure hope it wasn't we could have had either and went with Peterson.

Why would that mean no issues? You have lesser talent in the room no issues? You failed to put yourself in position to upgrade the room no issues?

I am not giving them passes like they have earned them. They haven't.

ILBs are signing fast

If all talent was equally, absolutely. Cornerback and tackle are the elite positions and a very good CB will help a team more than a tackle, just because it's a five-man unit. Defensive end in the Steelers system is way down the list.

Ok what if things aren't equal? What if the top three corners are off the board then what? Confident now the Steelers won't still force that move?

Are the Steelers better today with Peterson over Sutton? I think we all know that answer.

Like I said love the Angst. Lets all panic 5 hours in.

Jeudy is an interesting name...
We do need a 3rd WR. It would be nice with them increasing the need at one position that they decrease a need at another.
