Game 1 Press Conference vs Browns

Not to mention, I seriously doubt NFL owners are all that excited about his SB win from six years ago. It's more of a "what have you done for me lately?" type of league.

Pete Carrol, Bill Belicheat, Jeff Fisher, John Fox, Jim Caldwell, Andy Reid, Tom Coughlin, Lovie Smith and Ken Whisenhunt are all currently on their second NFL head coaching jobs without having won even ONE Super Bowl in their previous incarnations.
At the end of every NFL season there is generally a clamor for Bill Cowher to return to coaching after having only won one Super Bowl. Hell, even Gruden's name gets tossed in the hat and it's been ages since he won.

Tomlin would not be a sought out coach if he was fired by the Steelers for missing the playoffs once again. He is not comdidered a good X & O coach, he is not considered a motivator as his teams mostly come out and lose games regularly to bottom feeders and he is not considered a program builder. The thought of the moron trying to rebuild the Clowns, Raiders or Skins is comedy gold. He is considered a caretaker nothing more.

Gruden is intelligent and his breakdown of film with the rookie QBs shows an intelligence that Tomlin completely lacks. Teams around the league know of his lack of X & O acumen and even the bottom feeders who might normally go after a high profile coach like him have beaten him enough to see he adds nothing on gamedays and he is incapable of a quick fix like an Andy Reid did with KC by bringing in his potent offensive system. All Tomlin would bring is his trite inane patter and cool shades.

Article? Link? Anything other than your own conjecture and the opinion of some fans to support this position?

You mean like the bullshit you spew that the moron would be a coveted entity, ? Where did Switxer coach after the Cowboys and he was a great college coach who is much smarter than Tomlin.

So, the answer is no?

What are Tomlin's strengths as a coach?

I have been asking for ONE thing rtf he moron is good at with no responses. They bring up his won loss record that is seriously trending downward as Cowhers players aged , retired or are in serious decline.

Where is your article that Tomlin would be coveted hypocrite ?

Circular reasoning. Nice tactic. So, since you are stating things as fact based upon your opinion, I will just say: Thank you for your opinion, your are a valued contributor to this board.

Have a good day Frank.

I would love to see a roundtable with Belicheck, Reid, Carroll, Gruden, Whisenhut and Tomlin discussing football. The boy would look as out of his element and league as Obama or Carter would look on Rushmore.

Would love to hear the moron asked these questions by a GM if Tomlin is fired after again missng the playoffs.

Why could you not develop a good offensive line in 8 years ?

Why did you talk about a good running game and not develop one in 8 years ?

Why did the Steelers decline in your tenure and you missed the playoffs 3 straight years with Ben and 50 % of the time overall ?

What does it say for both your authority and leadership ability that 2 players felt comfortable planning to board a team plane high ? Seems to be a complete lack of respect for you and the team you helm ? Why not cut the veteran who has a history of behavioral problems or is a players ability short term more important than setting a tone that the organization will not tolerate such direct lack of respect for both you and their teamates ?

What is your strength as a head coach ?

Why did you lose 12 times in 5 years to the bottom feeders of the league ?

Why did the run defense fall apart under your helm ?

What is your football philosophy all cliches aside as you talk about running the ball, getting back to the lab ,etc yet every year your team is weak on the OLine, running the ball, chronically losing to bad teams and drafting 4-3 players for a 3-4 defense ?

What are your teams known for?

How do you overcome your poor clock management, poor in game adjustments and yourgeneral lack of involvement on the aidelines ?

What do you bring to the table other than inheriting a Super Bowl winning team, the most successful and stable franchise in the modern NFL and gradually eroding both the roster and the on field results ?

When did this happen? What years?

It's been two years that the Steelers haven't been to the playoffs.

I understand making a mistake. It happens.
But, if I were a "certain" type of poster, you know what I'd be saying riiiight?

YOU brought up the scenario if the Steelers dumped the moron he would be a coveted coach. He would only be fired if we miss the playoffs this year.

Find those articles yet that anyone would covet the moron yet hypocrite ? You talk and say **** you are a ****.

You mean like when you lied that Bradshaw didn't win a playoff game for 4 straight years or are you just stupid ?

Franco. What I brought up or did not bring up has nothing to do with you mistaking a fact. When others have done the same you call them liars. Therefore, under your own reasoning you sir are a .... well I'd say you were just mistaken, but we know what you should be calling yourself. Otherwise you're just the hypocrite you so enjoy calling anyone who disagrees with you.

As for doing your work for you, there are plenty of articles about the respect Tomlin garners around the league. Google is your friend.

You can and may respond however you wish, I won't see it. As of now, I'm done arguing with you.
The ignore list is my friend.
Good day and from one fan to another, here's hoping the Steelers have a wonderful, winning season.

AGAIN you brought up the false hypothetical that Tomlin would be a hot commodityif he was fired buy the Steelers. Are you expecting the Steelers to fire him now after another season without a playoff? Good riddance to you, I see yoiu couldn't answer the questions any competent GM would ask when interviewing the con man.

I'd agree that he'd be coveted as a head coach. I also think it'd be completely unjustified. People in the media/general public still think the steelers are a smash mouth grind it out team. Quite simply we haven't been that since the last super bowl winning team. That team won because of the kick the **** out of the guy across from you attitude and Ben roethlisberger's arm. Damn sure not on the reputation of the ground game. But guess what, even to this day people say "that Steeler defense blah blah blah", so because of that alleged reputation people think Tomlin is at the core of that. IMO, nothing could be further than the truth. So yeah... Like Idioteque said any semi proven coach like Romeo Crennel will immediately get another gig. Such is the life of the retread coach.

Other teams and their front offices would not spend millions on the con man without asking the tough questions I posed. His reputation around the league is not sterling and in the class of the better coaches and no GM will hitch his wagon to him given his horrible drafting record. Crennel is a great DC and X&O guy, Tomlin is neither and with his declining record his faults are well known and documented among the NFL brass.

I was the one who said it Franco the Tanko. Your arguments are baseless, unintelligent, and sad. It's easier for you to name call and gnash your teeth than to construct anything remotely resembling an intelligent argument.

Throw any superbowl winning coach into any head coaching selection process and you will see sharks flock to chum. Saw it with Ditka, saw it with Parcells, and I know, if Tomlin is fired this year, he will be the biggest name to replace any team that needs a new head coach.

How many current head coaches in the NFL have a Superbowl title? The answer is 7. 7 out of 32. How many of those 7 have coached in multiple Superbowls? 3. Tomlin is one of those 3, and he is BY FAR the youngest. You may not see it as an accomplishment, but there it is. This is a measure of your peers by which the NFL adheres to. You don't have to like it, but it is how head coaches are judged, by fans, by pundits, and by NFL teams. Whatever you are trying to sell, I ain't buying.

Why are we using a SB win from six years ago as the barometer of a head coach? Why does 2008 prove that Tomlin is awesome, and that our recent downturn in every facet of the game doesn't matter?

This forum has officially become unbearable and unreadable. It's pretty pathetic that I have to block almost 50% of the posters in this thread. I couldn't make it past page 2.

Keeping people like Idiot and Franco on the board just drives people away.

Yet here you are posting on page 7

Again Switzer has a Super Bowl ring . How many other coaches in the league inherited a Super Bowl winning roster and a franchise QB?

Funny how cope doesn't answer or defend a single question any GM would ask Tomlin about his declining record and team performance but not really surprising as he is not a particularly objective poster, rah rah
