Hawaii's Kilauea volcano erupts

Residents flee ‘curtain of fire’ as officials warn of fumes. Extremely high levels of sulfurous gas detected.

Hawaii's Kilauea volcano erupted Thursday, releasing lava into a residential neighborhood and prompting mandatory evacuation orders for nearby homes.

Hawaii County said steam and lava poured out of a crack in Leilani Estates, which is near the town of Pahoa on the Big Island.

Footage shown on local television showed lava spurting into the sky from a crack in a road.

We need to tax Hawaii for all of that CO2 they are pumping into the air.

Holy Atlantis!

Cool Spike.

We should have a prize for the first person to correctly describe the effect of these gases on the climate.

Don't worry, that will never be mentioned

That lava is a direct result of automobile exhaust entering the atmosphere.

How the **** do you let your car get caught by lava moving 1-2 mph?

It was parked. There is live video of it getting swallowed by lava and going ka-boom.

I suppose if you have 2 cars and only need 1 - or maybe you're not currently in the area to move it.

WTF are you talking about Spike? Everyone knows from science fairs, that volcanoes are the reaction of vinegar and baking soda mixing...

Actually...............doesn't that create CO2 also?.............

Surprisingly California just passed a new law mandating solar panals on all new houses... now having them isn't a bad plan, but this props up the collapsing solar panel industry yet again allowing them to charge high prices with no competition or ability to just say no....

This is a public service announcement, proceed to shelter immediately if air raid siren tone warbles

Kilauea volcano could fire boulders weighing several tons up to a mile through the air experts warn, as Hawaiians are told to brace for volcanic smog and acid rain

Officials are now warning the dangerous levels of sulfur dioxide gas following the Kilauea eruption last week
Gases could combine with moisture and dust in the air to cause volcanic smog, or 'vog'
Vog carries tiny drops of sulfuric acid which cause respiratory problems, even triggering asthma attacks in sufferers, and cause damage to the lungs, eyes and headaches
Gases could also cause acid rain, which can damage crops and cars, and could potentially cause lead poisoning if it gets into the local water supply
The Kilauea volcano could also erupt explosively and send boulders, rocks and ash into the air around its summit in the coming weeks, according to the U.S. Geological Survey
Volcano could sent rocks, two yards in diameter and weighing several tons, flying up to a mile away

After this whole volcano thing dies down, climate "scientists" are going to somehow link this to CO2 emissions. You just watch.

No they won't... they go out of their way to ignore natural CO2 emissions because man made ones are totally dwarfed by it and look insignificant ... volcanic eruptions... particularly underwater ones... are omnipresent and are burning the same dirt that horrible terrible coal plants do except without any regulation or pollution control... they " pollute". 24/7 and often at a rate that makes all human air pollution seem trivial on a global scale.... this will be utterly ignored or minimized by them... it doesn't play into their agenda

Lol.

15 years ago no one gave a **** about seafloor spreading...only the most dominant geologic force on the planet.

White House cancels NASA program on greenhouse gas

The White House has "quietly killed" a $10-million per year NASA program that tracks carbon and methane, key greenhouse gases that contribute to global warming, the journal Science said Thursday.

NASA's Carbon Monitoring System (CMS) tracked sources and sinks for carbon and made high-resolution models of the planet's flows of carbon, said the report

Global Cooling Alert!

April in the U.S. was remarkably cold in the midst of global warming

It was the 13th-coldest April in the United States, where records date back to 1895. The Upper Midwest was particularly cold — Iowa and Wisconsin had their all-time coldest April while temperatures in surrounding states in the Central and Northeast U.S. were well-below average. From Minnesota to Mississippi, nine states had their coldest April overnight lows.

In Minnesota, ice-out came as late in the season as it ever has. Ice-out is when the ice has completely melted after winter. At Lake Minnetonka just west of Minneapolis, ice-out is usually in mid-April. This year, the lake wasn’t ice-free until May 5, which was 21 days later than normal.

Ice hasn’t lasted this far into spring on the 14,500-acre lake since 1857, the Star Tribune reported.
