Blah blah blah..."got it wrong again. This time I'll get it right." Dang, I had the tiniest hope this was a resignation speech.

He's said absolutely nothing other than, "We need help and we need to change things." Yep, starting with you, you overpaid assclown. This league doesn't want anything to change, they just want all this to go away so they can go back to doing what they do.

Yep, everyone needs to be punished for their mistakes...except Roger.

Rog will be punished alright... the owners will force him to write a bigger number on the deposit slip when he cashes his paychecks in the future.

Goodell is just another politician trying to save his sorry ***.

If you didn't watch, you missed the guy who crashed the presser yelling "DONT TAKE ME TO AN ELEVATOR! DONT TAKE ME TO AN ELEVATOR" Hilarious!

You mean he did not announce a fine for himself for tarnishing "The Shield"?

Would it not be refreshing for a reporter to ask some hard questions and get some answers from this arrogant douche?

Do you guys understand that if Roger is forced out as a result of this BS media storm-

The new commissioner is going to make the game soft as hell, just to placate the likes of N.O.W and such??

Soon you'll have 2 game suspensions for cursing on the field

As much as I hate what has happened to the game under Goodell's tenure, I also don't see how anyone who replaces him will restore any of the things we all want to see brought back. All the changes were made, A) at the whim of the owners, B) to maximize the potential profits of the owners, or C) to reduce the potential liability of the owners in the future, and D) so far it's working. It doesn't matter who the empty suit is behind the podium, he's the puppet of the owners, and it's not like there's suddenly going to be some new commissioner giving a double-middle-finger to the owners and saying, "Let's go back to the glory days of real smash-mouth football, when men were men, and women shut up and got men a beer, concussions be damned!"

Best part of the press conf was this :

" An even odder spectacle was the sound of a man screaming from off camera while Goodell was at the podium. TV viewers had no idea what was happening but could hear the man yell, “What are you doing? Don’t take me to an elevator! Please, don’t take me to an elevator!”

That man was later revealed to be Benjy Bronk of The Howard Stern Show. "

Thanks for the link. It sounded like the usual crock of lies from roger. I am wondering why the guy from the Howard Stern show was being removed. Skipped the Baddell crap since he was not resigning.

The TMZ guy asked the best question. Something like - We got the tape with 1 phone call, explain why you did not.

I can't stand Goodell as much as anybody, BUT...

Does it bother anybody that the commissioner of the NFL was asked more tough questions in a one time press conference than the President of the USA has been asked in 6 years?

I didnt see it live, but I did see a replay of it on espn2 where they included hilarious commentary via twitter feeds from nfl players and the general public, basically blasting roger the gas bag, in little pop ups on the screen

This is not going away -- I just saw on ESPN that the Ravens ALSO knew exactly what happened in the elevator the DAY IT HAPPENED .. I have been trying to get the link so I could post it but it is not available yet. It was also said that owner lobbied for the NFL to be easy on Rice == it also said that Harbaugh wanted to release him right then but the owner said NO ..

if anyone has a link please post .. in the mean time I will keep looking

Story says detailed account. Fact that both of the involved parties reconciled and were ready to put this behind them has been lost by the media and all the other parties involved. This will be another instance of unintended consequences.

How is the Saints case any different from all this? Goodell knew what happened, had access to the tapes, his only action was a slap in the wrist.

Goodell should get a one year ban from the NFL, ergo he should get fired

I think you mean the Pats* case. The Saints case was bullshit with barely any solid evidence and yet Commish Badsmell hammered everyone involved because he wanted to make it seem like he cared about player safety.

If the NFL makes significant changes to its personal conduct code with mandatory minimum suspensions etc. it will be interesting to see how it impacts the draft and free agency. Anyone with questionable character or an assault record could be screwed.

Sounds like an Obama press conference. A bunch of rhetoric that you know is bs.

Thereby replacing "don't tase me bro" in the American lexicon.

And Rog fielded it like a true politician...."I can't explain how you got the tape." Da ***?
