He is playing terrible. For most of the season I said maybe they are misusing him. I don't care. You could replace that with a journeyman.
If Minkah's contract would permit I'd cut him

Id feel good if his 21 million made plays. He's sucked all year. Elliot has been a player. When you play safety you are gonna get a gift now and then. He's gotten one.

I'll disagree with this. While I refute the idea that a journeyman safety like Kazee can do the same thing that Minkah has done this year, the Steelers are paying Minkah to be a top safety in the league. He hasn't made nearly enough plays this year. The Steelers defense depends on its stars making plays because you sure know they aren't winning with scheme on a weekly basis. If Watt isn't a force with Heyward and Fitzpatrick right behind, forget about it.

Yep....he caught a badly over thrown ball today. His season unfortunately hasn't aged well. That rot is the bigger issue. No?
Read the title. His contract won't allow it. He is a 17 million cut. He was **** on several other plays too. You can't have a guy make 21 million and play like this. You can't.

Who is in charge of putting the ball hawk as far away from the ball as possible? Maybe a coach??
No **** Elliot has been making more plays. He’s played great! He is also 10-15 yards closer to the ball at the snap and playing a different role than
Minkah. A role which puts him right up in the action.
A lot of poor schemes and scheme related issues on this team.

You cant really put aside his contract. He is paid to be a game changer. He is playing like a place holder.

If the contract was situated in a way where he was still owed a ton buy much cheaper to get rid of him it would be worth it to dump him. After next year it costs like 6 to cut himnbut the saving is 17. Bye bye.

Ok I get your point. In that case I'd trade him, not cut him. But la another poster said, part of the problem is the scheme, he is always playing like 15 yards back
If someone's contract sucks. Generally other teams aren't eager to trade. Well other then the Browns. I agree about the 15 yards but at some point he is responsible for his play too. And also kinda my point. I'm not paying a player all pro money to be so deep it is impossible to beat him deep but create a giant void btw the linebackers and himself.

And for the record yeah today might be a bad day for this because he did get a pick. His first since 2022.
After another year of this, no one would want to trade for him.
