If you got to choose who would you pick to coach the Steelers

While that's true, it looks like Bieniemy has Mahomes taking what the defense gives him instead of doing all the heroics, and they were balanced today and killing TOP.

Granted, the Steelers were awful, but they looked like they could do anything on offense and without Kelce.
And Hill wasn't even involved. Or needed.

**** that...let's pick my next girlfriend...

And Hill wasn't even involved. Or needed.

Great point. Some guy named Byron Pringle looked like an all-pro out there.

Bienemy has a shady past. He was involved in rape allegations and was banned from his alma mater, Colorado's, campus.

Aside from that how do we know he's a great coach? Because he manages to have a good offense with Mahomes, Kelce and Tyreek Hill, and now a rebuilt OL?

It won;t matter anyway, there about a 2% chance Tomlin gets fired and that 2% would likely involve some sort of surprise scandal emerging. In other words, it's not happening.

If i had to pick right now I'd go for Bill O'Brien. He's an excellent offensive coach and has head coach experience. He actually did a very good job at Houston as a coach. It was when he was also given the GM role that things went south. He's not afraid to hire strong assistants.

Eric Bienemy for sure but also Todd Bowles from Tampa dc coord. His time with the jets to me was just a little too early in his career for him and the jets are just too much for pretty much anyone

Not sure about bill O’Brien though with his blowout with jj watt back with the Texans. Not sure how that may play out with TJ

I think a Mr. Potato head doll could do a similar job as Tomlin at this point.

Its been interesting to read the suggestions for a new Steeler HC. My question for the forum is do we really truly think that Art II would let Tomlin go? I just wonder if he would do it. We all know the Steelers dont like to fire coaches. They like to let their contracts run out. Tomlin got an extension, so would Art II have the stones to go against the way Dan R did things? I think that is some of the problem. Tomlin doesnt fear for his job. He sure doesnt coach like it

If Tomlin were to be let go, he could probably have a job by the end of the same day. Teams would line up to get him. Im not saying that is a reason to keep him because maybe after so many years, there just needs to be a different voice in the lockerroom. But Tomlin would not stay umemployed for very long.

As far as who would be the best choice to replace Tomlin, I could be excited with Bienemy and get Todd Bowles to run the defense. That would be really good.

Hell, ask Sean Payton if he would be willing to come to PIT. Im sure he would say no, but that would be a great choice. He has instant street cred. He is a great playcaller. Yes, he has a gig right now and its in a dome where he doesnt have to worry about weather. I know he would say no, but I would ask just in case he would want to resurrect one of the top 3-4 organizations historically in all of NFL football.

Bienemy has a shady past. He was involved in rape allegations and was banned from his alma mater, Colorado's, campus.

He wasn't involved in any rape allegations. If anything, it was indecent exposure as the lady said he and a few guys pulled down their pants and pissed nearby and he apparently grabbed her. And he was in a bar fight with another teammate from Colorado like back in the late 80's from what I read. Jack Lambert says hello. Yeah he's had some legal troubles in the past, but nothing in 20 years. I guess you wouldn't give Roethlisberger a chance because he's had not one, but two actual sexual assault allegations levied against him?

Not sure what the Bieniemy dislike is all about on here, but what I saw out there today from the Chief's offense ran circles around the other clown show that was out there. And Hill was a non-factor, their all-pro TE was out as was their 1st round RB. And maybe he was passed over for a HC spot the past three years because the Chiefs were in the last 2 Super Bowls and an AFC Championship before that?

the difference is that Bienemy's incidents actually happened and he was found guilty where Ben was never charged because the accusers seemed to be lying.

Bienemy was convicted of the bar fight.
Bienemy pleaded no contest to assaulting a firefighter and was suspended a game by Colorado
Bienemny grabbed a female parking attendant by the throat and threatened her
Bienemny has a DUI conviction.
Bienemy was investigated whil being a recruiting coordinator at Colorado for providing alcohol and women to recruits and one of the women said she was assaulted.

If you think it's all in the past and he's a changed man then fine. But it's not nothing. It's actually quite a bit.

Part 2 is whether a guy who calls plays for Pat Mahomes is actually a great coach. I have no idea. So no, i would not be doing cartwheels if Bienemy was hired.

For some reason the media thinks that every OC or DC is automatically a great head coach in waiting. I would rather hire a guy with head coaching experience.

Bienemy is in a tough situation with Andy Reid as HC and Mahomes at QB. Reid is a known offensive genius and Mahomes can make a lot of OCs look good.
Sort of three fold. I think Andy runs that show. I do like the idea of a X and O coach he might be more of that than Tomlin but Andy sort of blocks that Q and A. Then you have arguably the best young QB in the NFL. Ideal situation for a OC. Then you have his age. In his 50s. How long is that guy even going to be in the NFL? I think I prefer a younger version that is excelling in his own system that isn't second fiddle to an offensive based head coach.

Daboll (Bills OC) or Hackett (GB OC) would get my nod as the next Steelers HC. Both have some attractive attributes on their resume. If you hire Hackett AR might even be more attracted to coming to Pittsburgh. If you draft a QB then I would defer to Daboll. Neither is teetering on retirement.

Tomlin is a good coach for the right team. As you say X and O coach, we don’t have one on staff right now. Tomlin is a guy who coaches with a bit of an edge. He is good when the team has a lot of swagger or confidence, basically a team stacked with talent. I think that’s why we see the young guys acting like clowns when they’re getting beat badly on the field. Tomlin wants his guys playin. like that, they just don’t realize they have to win to show that type of emotion. The end result has been this selfish attitude as the team has lost its direction and it’s direction was guided by excellent players in the locker room who were a family when out in the field.

Josh McDaniel?

So why not use Tomlin as part of a potential trade? Get something for it..

Anybody but Tomlin. Tired of his **** show and bullshit. Anyone who is even adequate at X and Os is a huge upgrade.anyone who is not a jock sniffing fan boy is a huge upgrade. Anyone with basic management skills is a huge upgrade. Anyone who is awake on game days is a huge upgrade. Anyone who knows when to call a timeout or to challenge is a huge upgrade. Anyone who has a semblance of intelligence is a huge upgrade. Anyone who can discipline a 2 year old is a huge upgrade. Anyone who can stay awake during the game is a huge upgrade. Anyone who doesn't look stupid in his sunglasses and doesn't have a deer in the headlight look is a huge upgrade. In short I will love watching this piece of **** get further exposed as the years go on. I hate the ******* job he has done destroying the Steelers way of life. ANYONE is an upgrade and the last 2 weeks of the season will solidify his place as a bullshitting phoney and overall piece of **** who is ******* the Steelers, the fans and the Rooney every time he cashes a paycheck Tomlin supporters the last 10 years are reaping what they sewed. ENJOY

I wouldn't say he is the right coach for the Steelers now but to say he is a peace of **** is an extremist viewpoint. One that you love to regurgitate thread after thread. We get it you dislike him. Just try to tone it down a little. Maybe once every twenty posts. Instead of thread after thread after thread. I wouldn't say the man is a piece of **** at anything. Just for many dead horse avenue past mentioned reasons just not the man to lead the Steelers to a SB victory or probably a playoff win for that matter.

November15, 2021:

My nominee for the position: Dennis Allen, DC for the Saints. His defenses routinely stuff the running game and rush the passer. He had a horrible stint as the Raiders HC from 2012-2014 beginning when he was 40 years old, but that atrocity was due in substantial part to the Raiders facing salary cap hell and then giving him Terrelle Pryor and Matt McGloin as QB. His highlight as HC was probably beating a grossly superior team in week 3 of the 2012 season, or perhaps beating that same team (once again, despite the astonishing talent deficiency) in 2013.

Trying to remember whom he punk'd in consecutive seasons. God, THAT coach is an embarrassment and cannot possibly still be working in the NFL, amirite??

Yep

This is why people are dragging their feet on him…
