Ike may have been approached by the staff about taking a pay cut to put his price in line with his value to the team. Corner backs in this draft were not likely to play better than Ike this year. All of them had some holes in their game according to the reviews and discussions on here. None of them would have known the defense the way Ike does. There were so many needs on this team that picking the best value at the positions available was the smartest play. If you have few needs it is possible to reach for a guy or two to satisfy those needs but that is typically not an option for a team on it's second 8 and 8 season.
