Initial thoughts on browns Game

The play on the field was subpar today, real bad. Needed more from Heyward, Watt, and Minkah on defense. What is up with JPJ? Terrible tonight. The offense didn't do enough. Najee was just bad in a game he should've shined. Waitman picked a bad time to shank a punt.

Even with all that, it was completely overshadowed by the awful coaching. They put the players in terrible spots tonight and it ultimately cost the team the game.

Yep, how the hell don't CB's recognize the rub route and trade off. The 4th down and 4 call for the Browns, even the announcer said about a rub route. When a TE is lined up outside of a receiver, you have to bethinking about it. The CB's there should have been aware and traded off. Instead, Porter had was rubbed and could not get over to stop the 4 yard pass that gave the Browns the first down. How is that not taught? If it is taught, are the players are just too dumb to think of it and act? I saw the lineup and knew right away where that ball was going! Boy I wish the Steelers offensive brain trust to figure stuff out like that too!

The Steelers coaching in the secondary has been questionable for a long time, especially considering their inability to develop CBs under Tomlin.

Last year, it seemed like Porter had broken the trend, but that is less of a certainty now, as he has clearly regressed.

Recall that even Artie Burns looked decent as a rookie.

Minkah was once a star in the league, but he hasn't intercepted a pass in nearly two years, and honestly doesn't break that many up anymore either.

I think it partially explains why the Steelers record is so bad without TJ Watt. The secondary is always overmatched when the pass rush doesn't absolutely dominate.

Gonna say this once. They were gonna lose games. Was afraid they would lose both Washington, Baltimore. Won both. Need to bounce back. That's all.

Only the most nut hugging of all nut huggers thought 15-2 was a possibility

The severe nut huggers think a 1 seed is in reach-it isn’t

Upper echelon nut huggers believe a division title is a lock and will be accompanied by playoff win(s)- may still be possible but unlikely

Above average nut huggers- we are going to the playoffs and going to win at a minimum 1 game-still possible

Standard issue nut huggers- Happy Groundhog’s day-damn realists

Non nut huggers- the shaded one will never learn

That was beyond what is legal in a rub route

The TE runs up initiates contact and begins blocking before the ball is even thrown

I’ve seen the Steelers get penalized for that more than once as it is illegal the way they executed it

But those refs weren’t throwing flags vs the Stains
That was not the game plan/script

I'm far from a nut hugger. But they are playing contending football. They **** the bed last week but I half expected. And in my estimation from what I saw the players lost the football game. If you feel it is pre determined they will lose first round at best it really begs the question........why bother watching at all?

I fall into the standard and the non groups.

I said this before the season started that we would take the division.
I'm gonna say it again.
We will take the division.
We could win the division still, but the Browns games are the ones you need to win. The Ravens have a tough game Monday against the Chargers so we could potentially not lose any ground, but our schedule is certainly not favorable from here on out. Hopefully they learned something from this loss and mix it up on O.

The Steelers schedule isn't much more difficult than Baltimore's and Steelers currently have a 1 game advantage. Both teams play Eagles and Browns and play each other. Ravens also have Giants, Texans, Chargers compared to Steelers having Kansas and Bengals x 2. On paper Ravens have two bottom feeders and 4 tough games whilst Steelers have one bottom feeder, two average, two tough and a likely loss.

For mine I think the Eagles games against Steelers and Ravens, and the Ravens-Steelers game will decide the division winner as I think the rest of the schedule will leave the Steelers one game up or level with the Ravens.

When the Steelers had stars on offense, it seemed like they went out there every week expecting the offense to produce by the elite talent winning their matchups rather than scheme. It feels like they're doing the same thing with the defense now. The defense is good, but I don't see dominating performances like we sometimes see from other top defenses in the league.

Put me as an above average nut hugger. I think the Steelers will win the division (and number 3 seed) but are not a lock. I also think they will win the first week of playoffs at home to Baltimore or Chargers (more likely Baltimore, even if they beat the Chargers, as Chargers have a more favourable run home).

They are playing well for the most part

I think most of us saw this result coming if we’re being honest with ourselves

The players didn’t execute and the situational play calling was abysmal which usually equates to a poor result

I’m an above average nut hugger, that’s why I keep watching…because I know someday we wake up and it’s not GroundHog’s day. Being a die hard fan can be tough

It may take something freakish and Bungle like to get there, but it will be a sweet sweet taste when finally achieved again

Exactly where I’m at on most days with a 60-40 chance of that elusive 1 playoff win actually happening

Then things like Thursday night happen and I’m standard issue seeing that 5 seed and a 1 and done loss on the road in HOU as the probable end.

Either one comes after another Tomlinship tho, so the “standard” stays secure…winning!!!

What classification of “nut hugger” would I be in as prior to season I said (sober and unsolicited) that I expect 2 play off wins, before I could look at Coach Tom Lin and think there is a glimmer of hope. It will take more than 1 PO win to extract the ground hog day re-occirance for as long as it has been in affect.

You forgot the Eagles winning a Superbowl with the great Nick Foles. The 49ers nearly won it all with Jimmy Garappolo not long ago.

A franchise QB is definitely a huge advantage, but it is possible to win at least a playoff game or two every seven years without one.

Regardless of the perspective you try to apply to it, the inability to do so reflects pure ineptness on Tomlin's part, as they've hardly even been competitive in their last five playoff losses with their opponents averaging around 40 points per game. Is that all because of the QB position?

Plus, it's not like Tomlin was killing it in the playoffs for much of Roethlisberger's prime prior to the elbow surgery, especially considering there were years they missed all together. The cherry on top was probably Ben's last prime year in 2018 when the team started 7-2-1, only to collapse and end up sitting at home in January.
Are you a complete idiot ??!! Why would you bring up Garroppolo who played in neither SB (Tom Brady won both those SBs....remember I mentioned his name already?) and Nick Foles who is an outlier ? 1) because teams had limited film on Foles in the regular season games 2) because Nick Foles is a once every red moon situation. It's less than a handful of QBs that have won the SB and haven't been franchise and maybe 3 that played most of the season. Why would u even bring up both those QBs? Are you really that desperate?? ...or because you're ignorant, slow, biased, and have no clue what you're talking about?? Then you had one other dimwit agree with you which confirms my thoughts about a lot of Steeler fans.. I didnt even bother reading anything you said beyond that point. Now I have to consider the source when you come on here and comment anything.

2 playoff wins in the same year?

First of all, go **** yourself, you arrogant prick. I'll respond if I like.

You were wrong about teams winning in the playoffs without franchise QBs over the past seven years. Just because Tomlin cannot do it does not mean it cannot be done.

Foles played in three regular season games that season for the Eagles and had started lots of games in his prior five years in the league. The league was plenty familiar with him.

Garoppolo played in the Superbowl in which the 49ers had a 20-10 fourth quarter lead against the Chiefs and blew it.

You cruelly demean others for their opinions, accusing them of ignorance while you cannot even get the basic facts straight. You're a joke and a hypocrite to boot.

Sure, you "didn't read" the rest of what I said because Tomlin regularly failing in the post season with Roethisberger and his defenses getting squashed in the playoffs don't fit your pea-brained narrative of Tomlin, and you don't have a valid response to it.

Jesus Christ. You didn't even know Garoppolo played for the 49ers?

I'm the ignorant one?

LMFAO

I made a big batch of bean soup today. About 4 gallons. I break it down to 1/2 gallon containers and then vacuum seal and freeze. All beans and onions came from the garden

I said SBs slow bucks....you wanna try again??....and don't a write a book because I'm not reading all that stupid.

Garoppolo didn't win a SB with the 49ers dummy.

Because Tom Brady took his place, right?

The 49ers were in position to win it with him, but their defense couldn't hold the lead late in the game.

A lot closer than Tomlin has gotten over the past seven years, though, as I'm pretty sure the 49ers actually had to win a couple playoff games with a future HOFer in Garoppolo to get there.
