Initial Thoughts on bungle Game

I never expected them to win this game - or even make it close. Time to clean the QB bench again this year. I'd also see what Pickens might be worth on the trade market although right now we might only be able to convince the Bears or Raiders to take him.

Difference in the game was the FG Tomlin gave them at the end of the half with the stupid 4th down attempt.
Aside from the opening drive, the defense played pretty well. Held one of the hottest offenses in the league to 19 points.
Trice could be a really good player in the future. If he keeps developing, they will have 2 starting CBs with length outside.
The OL has gone backwards. Smith needs to gameplan around having a crappy OL. They should go 3 WR (Pickens, Williams, Austin) plus Muth as the base offense. Give Russ quick throw options. How about some plays with Pickens and Williams both going deep with Austin and Muth over the middle on shorter routes?
Warren got 6 carries. The RB rotation makes no sense at all. Are they holding out Warren so they can low ball him with a contract offer in the offseason? That's the only thing that makes sense to me.
Patterson should only see the field if Najee or Warren is injured and one of them needs a breather. That's it. Najee returned to the game and they put in Patterson for no apparent reason in a key moment.
Pickens needs to be traded in the offseason. Can't operate with a guy who needs to be constantly handled like a child. Get what you can and move on. This draft is not great at WR so you may get good compensation for him.
They need to figure out LT. Moore is fine as a backup but he needs help as a starter. Hopefully Fautanu is the answer at RT or LT and Broderick JOnes can still be saved.
Pat Meyer probably needs to be fired as OL coach.
Steelers aren't winning the Super Bowl but if they can get it together for 1 week and knock out the Ravens, it would make it a satisfying season.

No moves will be noteworthy without changing out the HC. The only move that could bring positive results when it matters most.

I’ll also add, both these coordinators suck! Terrell Austin does what he’s told taking orders from Tomlin. This guy got booted in Detroit and Cincinnati as their DCs. He was so bad in Cincinnati he didn’t last the season.

I think my biggest disappointment initially is that I thought RW and JF would be an upgrade to the QB room and that would equate to at least 2 more wins. This is beyond disappointing.
As much as I like Tomlin my biggest issue with him has always been his inability to select good coordinators. I wasnt sure what to think of AS...I just assumed he couldn't be worse then Canada. Well he's not much better either. He just can't get the coordinators right. He can't seem to hire a real offensive mind or defensive mind for whatever reason.

Part of the problem is they are changing pieces on O too often. Nobody is getting into a rhythm.
A guy makes a great catch and is on the sideline the next second.

Bullshit, he didn't have 3 drops. He had one. Two were GREAT plays by the defense to knock the ball out. And Wilson missing a WIDE OPEN Pickens late in the game is all the reason you need to NOT sign him to an extension. That's supposedly why he was playing instead of Fields, experience... Offensive and defensive schemes are poor and outdated. Even special teams (outside of Boz), even went downhill. If this doesn't put Tomlin on the hot seat... Nothing will.

I hate to admit this but I told my wife I wish this entire coaching staff boarded a plane to Vegas but blew up mid air, killing them all! I hate thinking like that, but damn, this staff just totally sucks at their job and there is no end in sight! Tomlin is ruining football entirely for me. I just might say **** the Steelers and root for Detroit! At least they have a coach with some mighty big balls hanging from his groin unlike the the vagina Tomlin has!

He had his hands on those balls and has made those catches before.
I am not talking about the play Wilson missed him.
Hell the one pass I could have caught.

Wilson plays over Field because Fields is still not able to read defenses. The offense was better with Russ. No doubt. Unless you just want to go RPO, you have to start Russ.
I would not give Russ a big contract. I'd like to keep Fields if you can get him for a reasonable price because he does have upside and with more experience in the system, he could be something. The draft class of QBs looks weak. Fields is a better prospect.

My first thought is that the Bengals deserve to go to the playoffs more than the Steelers do. They're simply a better team right now.
As far as the Steelers are concerned, the defense tonight played better as the game went on, but Tee Higgins leaving the game for the Bengals contributed a lot to that, IMO.
The Steelers completely collapsed over the past month, and there isn't much to be optimistic about heading into the playoffs or next season for that matter.
There are just so many question marks at key positions right now between QB, WR, OT and CB, and I have no confidence in the ability of the major decision makers in the organization to fill the holes. Poor OL and DB play, in particular, have flat out become synonymous with Tomlin's teams.
Russ and Pickens both might be gone in 2025. Russ hasn't looked worth resigning over the past month and will be a year older, while Pickens seems like his head isn't in it anymore, at least not with the Steelers. It's starting to look more likely Pickens will join Kevin Dotson and Diontae Johnson as the next "hostage" to traded.
Despite the struggles in recent games, this year's offense might look like the 2007 Patriots compared to the players they throw out there next year.
There's at least three more years of this **** to look forward to, with Tomlin's contract running through 2027.

They just have no feel for anything. Or really any basic understanding. The Bengals basically said Watt is not beating us. And the Steelers left Hendrickson one on one with Moore all night. The sequence before half which literally took a miracle to only give up three. Like no feel for their team.
Dude, WTF? Get a grip, man. As diehard as most of us are here, we realize in context that it’s a game played by millionaires on teams owned by billionaires. And they mostly don’t take the losses as hard as some of us fans. I realized that years ago. Your take is way extreme.
Life outside the NFL is worth living. Give it a shot.

He is a #1, but we don't know how to use guys as #1. Not since AB left. And with Wilson not throwing 10-20 yards passes, makes it real easy to guard out WR'S.

The team is mediocre, and our coaching staff are sub-optimal. We will live in this reality until Mikey Sunglasses is gone.

Hell half the time Pickens doesn't even try.
Id have given Fields the ball in the second half. You die on your shield. If Fields played well you at least have a narrative for next week.
I have no problem with people venting **** I am too. But never ever ever should a Steelers fan wish death on players. Just not a good look.
