Initial thoughts on the Bills game

It's hard to forget what Diggs did to the Steelers. This is a classic grind it out game with a strong running game and look for the big deep ball to Pickens. The Bills have a couple of good tight ends we'll have to lock up and what concerns me is the big play. Allen has that strong arm and they have deep threats. Sound defense, no communication errors.

"The key to the Steelers winning the game is to run the ball against the soft middle of the 5th worst rushing defense in the league..."

Mike Tomlin "That is exactly what they'll expect us to do...Mason...get that shoulder ready...we're passing 50+ baby!"
Not sure where you're quoting that statement from, but it is inaccurate. The Bills did not have the 5th worst rushing defense in the league. They were 15th in that category, right behind Baltimore.

What bandwagon? I'm always on the Steelers bandwagon, win or lose. Playoffs or no playoffs.
Everyone is just happy that the Steelers have been given a shot.

But I understand your view. You won't let yourself get sucked in and then have to face being disappointed.
Everyone is different. For me, being a part of all this hype and optimism is entertaining and worth it..... even if it results in being disappointed in the end.
That's right. It's a whole different vibe as a 10-point underdog. The expectations are tempered, and if the Steelers somehow pull off a major upset, then it's icing on the cake. If they do lose, I'm not going to feel the abject disappointment of, say, that embarrassing loss to the Jaguars when they were a touchdown favorite.

I'm not talking about fans, I'm talking about the media that makes it sound as if we walked on water. I'll be in front of the TV Sunday yelling and cheering like every other year.
OK, well thats very different!

Average yards per carry according to next gen stats on NFL.com

"Rushing defense" is based on total rushing yards allowed per game. Yards per carry is a different category.

Its the Yards per attempt number, not the yards per game... I havent watched enough Bills games to know if its legit or just that they play a lot of pass d and teams occasionally surprise them with runs

I realize what "they" base their ranks on, but not I. there is a big difference between rushing for 180yards on 28 attempts versus 15 attempts.

Hello to all.😁.

I know everyone on the sports shows on Fox and ESPN think we are a joke. And maybe we will lose big. But I kinda doubt it. And to me it's obvious, this game comes down to one thing, and that is " TOP ". Time of possession. If you look at it, the Bills were 7-2 at home this season. And technically it was 1 loss. Cause the Jags game was at a neutral site

Bills lost to Denver in Buffalo. And the one common factor both games have is each teams commitment to Rushing the ball. Go ahead and look those games up. The jags ran the ball like 40 times, and Denver 38 times. And averaging a good YPC is not even a factor. Denver averaged only 3.2 YPC. But yet they held the ball for like 37:30 for the game.

And no, neither the Jags or Denver dominated Josh Allen with pressure or QB Sacks. In fact, neither team had any Sacks.

Simple, keep Allen on the bench as much as possible. Keep Rushing the ball with Najee and Williams. Make sure we try and keep Rudolph in as short of 2nd & 3rd and short yardage as possible. Don't take any unnecessary risks on 4th downs, just punt it away, and keep Buffalo on as long a field as possible. And trust me, the longer the Bills have to go, you know sooner or later Allen will throw an Interception here or fumble the ball.

And of course the added bonus of getting back not one, but BOTH our Starting Safties in Kazee & Fitzpatrick. 👍. Not to mention Eldon Roberts is back at ILB. And he is our best at covering the TE. And you know he knows Buffalo, and what they like to do. So that's an advantage for Pittsburgh.

Yes fans, we could screw up with a mistake or two of our own. And yes we might lose, and normally the last seeded playoff teams are supposed to lose.

But to me, I personally feel at this particular time, the Steelers are a very Dangerous team that the National media are disregarding
And that is a mistake.

Our O-Line, which was as bad as it gets 10 weeks through the season has now galvanized and has come together. And for the last month, the Steelers are averaging more Rushing yards per game than ANY other NFL team.

So I say....Buffalo, you'd better not Discount us.

" HERE WE GO STEELERS....HERE WE GO " 😊🏈 .
Who, in the cosmic blue hell, is Williams?

Lot of muscular woman there. Would you serve?

😁

Not the night before the big game,….. wouldn’t want her to have weak legs……………………..

Salute the nation

I think he means Warren.

So easy to mix those W's up wright?
Well played, sir.

The crazy thing is, I didn't think we had a Williams on our team........probably for the first time in history.
I had to go pull the roster to make sure I wasn't missing someone, like a signing or call up from the PS.
We really don't have a Williams at any position this year.
CA-RAY-ZEE!

He might have been talking about the Bills' ypc ranking. Giving up 4.6 ypc on the season puts them in the bottom 6 of the league.

Edit: My bad. I see you both addressed your respective positions already.

I realize that YPC is an important category. So you can say that the Bills are tied for the 5th worst in YPC allowed. You shouldn't say, however, that they have the 5th worst rushing defense in the league, because it's simply not a true statement.

YPC can also be misleading at times. For example, the Steelers averaged 6.6 yards per rush against the Browns earlier this year in a 13-10 loss. But it wasn't indicative of what really happened that day. Without a 74-yard run by Jaylen Warren, they averaged 3.9.

Absolutely, but the addition of a very big, fast, long-armed guy like JPJ changes the dynamic 100%.

The Bills have a couple of good tight ends we'll have to lock up and what concerns me is the big play.

If the Steelers play their traditional "nobody cover the middle of the field defense," it will be a long day. If they cover the middle of the field, I think Buffalo is going to struggle to move the ball effectively. Steelers run defense has been good most of the time the past 8 games, apart from the debacles against the Cardinals and Patriots. Using KoryeaMath, and setting aside those two fugly games, the Steelers have given up just 455 yards in the other 6 games, an average of just 76 yards per game.

Now I admit to suffering some PTSD remembering the Colts game so don't mention that game. Also, I am going to pretend the Arizona game just did not occur. You can't make me remember that game either, so there.
