Jackson extension?

I really thought Atlanta would be in on him for a myriad of reasons… i just don’t think owners want to encourage the foolishness of that kind of contract… Miami could in theory do it but there are huge complications there… first of which the dont have a first this year, so it would have to be a sign and trade type deal
But moreover than that they simply dont have the cap space… they just cut Byron jones and moved a bunch of his cap hit into next year because when you factor in filling out the roster with league minimum players, they were 23 million over the cap..

I’ve seen things breaking down how they can cut another 55 million off the roster by moving stuff around, but this was heavily reliant on lots of trades of high priced players which would mostly have to be replaced with other at least moderately priced players… so you aren’t really getting that total savings even if you had teams willing to deal…

This is absolutely the right move to make with unreasonable players… the non exclusive tag is woefully underused in the nfl… let him gauge what the rest of the NFL is willing to pay him and break the delusion a bit

The only way this moves forward is with Lamars camp letting it be known he will accept a non fully guaranteed contract, then you will see a lot of the teams looking again

That has to be the obvious thought progression for anyone serious about getting Lamar a long term contract......thank you stains for messing up the purple stains too!!!!

I still want the ravens to sign him, even if not a financial cap nightmare. He isn’t going to be much of a threat for very long and it stops them from getting a better :franchise” type QB for awhile.

Action has produced literally nothing when playing against us, we seem to have his number.

This all sounds kinda fishy to me. All those teams are out on Jackson because of two first rd. picks? Carolina needs a QB desperately. The only QB left to draft at their position is Anthony Richardson. He is an unknown quantity at best. The only other way to get Stroud or Young is to trade down which will cost you 2 first-rounders. Why not sign Jackson and give up the two #1's? Like it or not he is still an MVP and is still only 26. Personally, I hope the Ravens give him 5 year @300 Hundred fully guaranteed contract.
2 1st round draft picks for a guy that has proven he can't throw to win is worse that a college guy that is less in draft capital and might be able to throw.
I think the Rats should just go ahead and sign him long term. For a lot of $$$

Giants sign Daniel Jones to a 4 year contract $160 million with $94 million guaranteed. Good luck with that.

We'll see how this affects things signing what I consider a less than mediocre QB for that kind of money.

If Jackson can get a Jones type deal why not take it. I dont understand what guys can do with 94 million dollars. Plus if your smart you can make a ton with endorsements. I would think you could live very very well the rest of your life with that money

It’s a major disincentive. A team would either have to offer Jackson so much that the Ravens decline to match, and also lose two first round picks in doing so, or negotiate Jackson’s contract for the Ravens. Also, I think Jackson is acting as his own agent. Yeah, no thanks.

This is a win win for the Steelers. If Jackson gets the money he wants elsewhere and the Ravens match they will be in salary cap hell with their QRB out a lot of games and on a downward spiral in production. If they let him go they will have to start Huntley or a rookie for the next couple of seasons.

That is multi generational wealth if you have even a remotely competent financial planner. At some point it becomes all about ego and not about the dollar amount.

I think it was Gronk who said he just banked his NFL money and lives off endorsements. Jackson is a pretty big name and w/ a decent agent he could probably bank a few million in endorsements. Him trying to be his own agent does not help.

Yep, Darrius Heyward-Bey did the same type of thing. His mom was a CPA and made him invest his money and live on the interest. I guess at first he as mad but after a few years he was happy she made him. He made 38 milion so after taxes that is just north of 21 million. Lets say he averages an 8% ROI. That is 1.7 million annually. Not a bad chunk of change to live on.

The guy doesn’t have to work a day in his life of he invest wisely.

Comes off as a dumb jock but he managed himself smartly

That would further along his suck. I am all for that. Players who sit out a season and come back never seem to be the player they once where. Especially their wheels. With your game built around your wheels yeah sure go ahead show those rats who is in charge sit.

Plus at the very least he is throwing 34 million in the trashcan.

And that's the way you do it. Good for him he had a mother who was a CPA.

It bugs me when I see people squander the life lottery.

I'm with you on this, I've heard main stream media commentators say things like "I'm sure the Steelers would be happy to see him go", and all I can think is "why? He's done nothing against us! We've struggled with Huntley more than Jackson"

LJ isn't going to Miami. They already have a super athletic winning QB that can't stay healthy. I think they learned their lesson without guaranteed money involved.

Deshaun didn't ruin the market. Jones just did. A never was just banked $40/yr and can go up to $48M/yr with incentives. This is now the baseline for all new QB contracts, and LJ won't sign for a dime less than Jones just signed for. He is a former league MVP after all.

If Action drops the “fully Guaranteed” demand, the sky would be the limit for his arrival. He may get some team to make the exception, but I’ve read a possible owner collusion against that happening.

Either way, I do hope Baltiwhore resigns him.

Ravens don't want Lamar. Look at contracts being given out. When a team THINKS they have a franchise QB, they pay him. Ravens clearly think Lamar has peaked. They tried to make him a passer and had to dial it back. They hired a new OC which tells me they realized they took that high school offense as far as it could go.

It's a safe bet that they are internally praying that another team signs Lamar so the Ravens get the draft picks.

The Daniel Jones contract seems crazy but you have to consider that last year was the first year that Jones had anything close to a surrounding cast. The OL has been horrible, Saquon was injured and they have no WRs. Last year they finally had a decent OL and healthy Saquon at the same time. Still not much at WR but Jones managed to have a pretty solid season.

Jones has great mobility. Daboll was there with Josh Allen who many were starting to call a bust before he finally had a breakout. Getting Stefon Diggs was a big part of that too. The Giants could land a top WR this offseason. They do have some decent depth WRs, just not that top guy.

It's a risk, but if Daboll liked what he same in Jones' development last year then it's not as crazy as most people think.

They have been negotiating with him, and a tag is for their protection to have a chance to keep him.

If they are leaning that way now it is probably the guaranteed money he wants that is scaring them off.

Which I would be very reluctant to ever throw out a fully guaranteed contract. If I was a fan of that team I would be wishing for a trade as well. As a Steelers fan I hope they get stuck with him.

I know there is a lot of dumb arse teams but if someone gives up two number ones for action Jackson they truly are clowns level dumb. Probably hard to wash that stain off I would imagine....

Most rb's throw poorly. I think they get 10M. Jackson is just as inaccurate as the other rb's.

Him trying to be his own agent does not help.Very well could have been Gronk. I thought it was Marshawn Lynch. Also chad Johnson was just on a pocast stating he lived at the bengals facility for his first two years of his career until they made his find a place to live. He said he would have stayed there longer if they would have let him.

Ego is a magnificent word And abused in action.
