My son in law (8) started flag football this year. The game was much more entertaining than i thought it would be. He had 2 tds and and int. Anyways what made me laugh is he had scored a Td and on next possession was lined up at rb. The opposing coaches said to watch the inside handoff... Our coach had called a play action pass which was wide open for a Td. I was thinking to myself if these peewee kids/coaches can call /execute play action at the proper time then wtf is wrong with the steeler players / coaches...

Oops i meant step son..... Knew something didn't sound right

Kids tackle football can just be ugly to watch sometimes.

Damn, drinking and posting during football games doesn't mix :)

I've had a blast watching my son's games. Yes, a lot of it's ugly but sometimes they pull off something amazing and it's fun to watch.

We have a RB on our team now who is simply phenomenal. Kid is fast as hell and cannot be tackled. Unfortunately Mom and Dad are tiny people which doesn't bode well for his NFL career, lol.

A lot changes between pop warner and high school. Some of the best pop warner players never see the field in high school or stop playing all together.

My Great friends kid is and 8th grade football. When he was younger, a real hand full, now he is the smallest one on the field of play.

Salute the nation

The Pee wee Steelers tackle team I coach blew a 20 point lead in the playoffs yesterday. All I can say is that we take responsibility for the loss and acknowledge it. We won't throw dirt on that grave. We aren't satisfied with the result as we strive for perfection, but acknowledge that we fell short. There might be some changes moving forward (of course they won't involve me) and we will come back next year refocused to get back to where we want to be.

Obviously.

I used to have a ball coaching Pee Wee/ Rec football & won some championships too. Parents made my decision to stop easy. Once a few of them suggested I and the coaches were too rough on the young lads for the amount of cardio exercise and repetitive drills

The standard is the standard.

Obviously we acknowledge that with the exception in the way it pertains to me if you will and so to speak,

I played flag football on the grounds of the Playboy Mansion, but I don't want to bore you with the details.

Please tell us you played with scantily clad young ladies playing flag football.

I've coached too many sports to mention and the parents can either make your (unpaid and volunteer) job really easy or they can make you want to quit in a heartbeat... My favorite (sarcasm) parent was on a Jr. high wrestling team I unofficially helped/volunteered with because my brother in law was on the team.

She caught me unaware when she grabbed my arm as I was leaving a triangular...

Parent: Little Johnny is the best 105 Lb. wrestler you have. Why is he on the "B" team?

Me: Say what?

Parent: Little Johnny is undefeated this year on the "B" team and it is too easy for him. He is getting bored.

Me: Little Johnny has his chance before every meet to wrestle-off against the A team guy and he gets pinned usually within a minute. We have also let him wrestle off against the 115 and 125 and he cannot beat either of them. Now, we do have an open weight at 100 lbs. ( I already knew the kid in question usually weighed in no higher than 103 and when I had the 100 lb. conversation with him he let me know his diet was primarily fast food and ice cream) If Little Johnny would change his diet a little bit, i think he could win county at 100 lbs. I agree he is very good, but we have a national champ at 105 and county champs at 115 and 125.

Parent: What?!? What!?!?!?!?! Little Johnny doesn't need to change. He is perfect the way he is and the way he is makes him your best 105 lb. wrestler. You are just playing favorites with this weight class. What is sad is Little Johnny looks up to you and respects you and you are letting him down by keeping him out of your starting lineup.

Me: I'm glad to have Little Johnny on the team and I think he is a great kid. If he wins the wrestle-off, I will have no problem putting him in our starting lineup. If not, we do have an opening at 100 lbs...

Her: (Some sort of audible whining growl escapes as I walk away...)

Unfortunately, there are always those parents that can't believe someone is better than their kid... I'm sure a lot of youth coaches have the same issues and similiar conversations... What made it the worst in this case is that a wrestle-off takes all favoritism out of it... you are either better or you are not...

My biggest disappointment in youth football is that a kid can be the biggest little dickwad on the field, **** around all during practice, show up late, not know the plays, but because he's the biggest or the fastest kid he's in the game on every damn down. Some of the coaches value winning above all else. I had always hoped at the youth sports level at least there would be some focus on sportsmanship and work ethic, and we've had a couple of coaches like that. But we've had a couple who don't give a flying **** about anything but their record.
