Let the Mocks begin.......

I think we all feel the same way about, possibly, going RB in the first again. However, if Jeanty were to fall, what do yunz think?
How much more then Harris' 1000 do yiu think you could get with this team? That is the question. 200? And what would the effect of that be. You sure as hell aren't running inside the 10. They haven't done that since what Bell? Maybe?

Daniel Jaramiah predicted RB round one which is worst possible idea. You are paying for yards and TD. How many more then Harris? And how much less then a second or third be then Harris?

A RB in the first round would be a team failure. Much higher needs than any RB in the 1st.

Sadly though, it really wouldn’t surprise me.

Rb in theb1sr is for a team with no holes that goes BPA. We have not been Esther for a long time

The gap between Jeanty and say Hampton or Johnson, or even Gordon isn't as big as some might think. I think Jeanty is a great back, but if he's sitting there and Grant is sitting there, I'm taking Grant every single time. Now if Grant isn't there, and Jeanty is, I pick up the phone and call a team desperate for a RB that would be willing to trade down with. Jeanty isn't going to push the needle of this team one way or another too far. We'd be getting Saquon on the Giants not Saquon on the Eagles. Besides, I don't think he makes it beyond Dallas.

I just think he's gonna be a good player in the NFL and the type of WR the Steelers could use.

2.52 Jaxson Dart, QB, Ole Miss
Just too intriguing to pass up and without a long-term answer at QB, I'm willing to take a swing.

3.83 Omarr Norman-Lott, IDL, Tennessee
A DL with pass rush potential.

4.122 Bhayshul Tuten, RB, Virginia Tech
Adding speed to the backfield.

5.163 J.J. Pegues, IDL, Ole Miss
Doubt he'll drop this far, but taking advantage of the DL depth. He can also be a short-yardage back...seriously.

7.225 Jermari Harris, CB, Iowa
Older prospect, but the best CB available.

7.238 Carson Vinson, OL, Alabama A&M
Taking a chance on a small school OL.

7.247 Collin Oliver, LB, Oklahoma State
Potential as a pass rusher.

In the Canadian league...maybe. :ROFLMAO:
From NFL.com:

3) Milroe makes noise. No quarterback turned in a narrative-changing showcase performance at the NFL Scouting Combine on Saturday, but that doesn't mean there wasn't a possible winner from the event.
Alabama QB Jalen Milroe has been a polarizing prospect throughout the draft process, and his throwing session on Saturday won't universally draw praise. But there were enough moments from Milroe's day to serve as a reminder that he might be the most tantalizing developmental prospect in a mixed-bag QB class.

Milroe uncorked several quality deep balls during the performance, demonstrating his terrific arm talent. There were some hiccups, too, especially on intermediate throws. Inconsistency was a hallmark of his game during an up-and-down career with the Crimson Tide. But there were enough highs from the session that his stock should be heading back in the right direction following a Senior Bowl week during which he roundly struggled.
Milroe even received another post-Senior Bowl bump with his hand measurement, which was 8 3/4 inches in Mobile and -- apparently -- grew to 9 3/8 inches at the combine. Nine-inch hands are considered the floor for a quarterback by some NFL teams.
During the NFL Network broadcast of Saturday's workouts, NFL Network's Peter Schrager reported that Milroe also interviewed well with NFL teams, potentially boosting his draft standing further now that coaching staffs are getting up to speed on the scouting process.
Milroe said Friday he was considering running the 40-yard dash, but he ultimately opted not to in Indianapolis. He's a phenomenal athlete, so we continue to wonder what his speed might be. Milroe will have another opportunity to display his skills on March 19 at 'Bama's pro day, whether by throwing, running or both.
If Milroe continues to progress after this showing, it's possible he could enter the QB3 conversation after Miami's Cam Ward and Colorado's Shedeur Sanders, who did not work out at the combine. (Milroe is currently ranked fourth among QB prospects by NFL.com's Bucky Brooks.) Also working in Milroe's favor this week: None of the other candidates really made much noise in Indianapolis. Don't rule out Milroe being drafted higher than some might anticipate right now.

They said the same things about Jalen Hurts.
Milroe is not in the same league as Hurts. He had mediocre at best stats last year. In 2023 he had a good season, but barely played before that. Hurts had 3 good college years. in 2019 he had 32 TDs and 8 ints. In 2017 he had 17 TDs and 1 Int. Milroes last year was 16 TDs and 11 Ints. I know stats don't tell the whole story, but Hurts was consistent and there was more tape on him. If Milroe can't make it at Bama he is not going to make it in the NFL.

they better get a couple of CBs in FA with that draft, fortunately, it's a deep class available

We don't need a rb. We need to improve our o line, d line and get a #2 receiver. We also need to do with Fields what Philly does with Hurts.

"free for all" trade setting.

assuming we resign Fields and going BPA/BAA:

* first round trade with the Chargers, 1.21 for 1.25, 2.58, 3.89, 4.127 * - computer initiated
* third round trade with the Packers 3.83 for 3.87, 4.123 and their 6th next year *
* third round, 2nd trade, with the Rams 3.89 for 3.90 and 4.126 *

If we don't sign Najee, we absolutely need a RB. Warren isn't even a guarantee to come back as a RFA. The only RB under contract right now Patterson and Aaron Shamklin (and if you didn't know who that is, it's ok...I didn't either). So yeah RB is a need as of right now.

Outside of Warren none of those options should be back. I think Warren will return just not sure he is a 3 down back.

I'm still pimpin' Jalen Milroe...
I get it brother, But he's questionable prospect in a weak QB draft class. The Steelers just don't have what it takes to develop this young man nor engineer an offensive system for him to flourish. It takes a lot more than a big arm and the ability to run to succeed in the NFL and right now, that is all he has.

re: Milroe - from the link above:

he might be the most tantalizing developmental prospect in a mixed-bag QB class.

we don't "develop" talent here, anyway. if we did, we'd not have had Russted on the roster and Justin would be Warren Moon.

from a draft site:

Scouting Report: Summary

Jalen Milroe enters the NFL as the most physically gifted quarterback in this class – a walking highlight reel who can score from anywhere on the field with either his arm or legs. Yet his game presents a fascinating paradox: a quarterback who can drop perfectly placed rainbows 50 yards downfield but routinely sails basic swing passes and crossing routes. This Jekyll and Hyde accuracy profile, particularly his alarming inconsistency in the short-to-medium range, means teams must have a comprehensive development plan before calling his name on draft day.

His concerning hand size measurement (8⅞ inches) amplifies the risk factor, potentially explaining some ball security issues and raising legitimate questions about his ability to grip and control the football in cold, wet environments. Teams in northern, outdoor stadiums must factor this physical limitation into their evaluation. The organization that selects Milroe is betting on ceiling over floor, understanding they're drafting a developmental project who might need a season of clipboard duty to refine his mechanics, footwork, and processing speed.

Milroe's ideal landing spot features a creative play-caller willing to build around his strengths initially – designed QB runs, play-action shots, and simplified half-field reads that maximize his arm talent while minimizing complex progressions. Smart organizations will implement a Lamar Jackson-style rookie package that leverages his athleticism immediately while gradually expanding his passing responsibilities. With his military family background, academic achievements, and natural leadership qualities, Milroe has the intangibles to maximize his physical gifts – but only if paired with a patient, developmental staff committed to refining his raw throwing mechanics. Teams that can stomach the early growing pains could find themselves with a franchise-altering talent capable of stressing defenses in ways few quarterbacks can.

Sanders did interviews and from the reports, a lot of people are turned off by how he is... Deon's kid. If he doesn't ace his pro day, he may find himself in an Aaron Rodgers type slide.
