Mike Munchak possible HC canidate for the Browns...

Danny boy Jeremiah is a chooch. Why is it these "writers" come up with "worth taking a look at" theories?
Munch wouldn't take on that dumpster fire, I can't see him tolerating the Clowns owner!

Lol the Browns job ought to be like the Raiders job years back... no legit good coach that has other options should want it

Sigh....more assumptions with no corroboration. Munch will get the Asst HC title when Mitch goes to the front office after this season. It’s been in the planning stages since they decided to get Dunbar (Coach Mitch’s hand picked replacement).

Munch would be my pick to replace Tomlin although I think we know that's not happening. The OL has been fabulous under Munch.

I think Munch is happy where he is. If we are in danger of losing Munch then promote him to HC and trade Tomlin to the Browns for a couple of those first round picks. Haslam would jump all over that one.

Tomlin could coach the Columbus Crew for them as well... The MLS needs some Cool Shades!

Taking the wrong job can kill a potential career coaching in professional sports......

I would so be all over that. I'd do that literally in less than a heart beat. Anyone who doesn't believe Munchak could seamlessly take over this team is stupid. i think they would be substantially better.

So there's no real rumors, just a suggestion from this writer. I also wouldn't think hiring Munchak would automatically fix the offensive line, he's being brought in to be the head coach, not the offensive line coach. Munchak also turned down the Cardinals last year for family reasons. From a Cleveland point of view, this would be an uninspired hire. They need a coach to maximize what Baker Mayfield brings to the table and I wouldn't be surprised if they tried to find a bright offensive mind from the college ranks.

The Iowa State head coach is getting some burn. He has ties to Ohio and already did a great job at Toledo.

Seems like I recollect the negotiations with Munch back when he first signed on. We never did get the details but there were some long term deals made and I think they came from his disappointing two year stint as the Titans head coach after spending almost 20 years with the team.

Just for the record...

The 2013 season, Munchak's third as head coach, yielded a record of 7–9. That offseason, franchise CEO Tommy Smith and general manager Ruston Webster requested that Munchak replace at least six assistant coaches. Munchak disagreed with some of these requests and refused to fully enact those changes in his staff.[3] Munchak was consequently relieved of his position on January 4, 2014.[4]

That kinda confrontation can sour a person toward management for life.

It may be that he is happy doing what he is doing ( like some HS coaches ) and doesn't want to be moving his family around the Country.

If Gregg Williams does a good job with the rest of the season, he should be the leading candidate.
