Emission Reductions From Pandemic Had Unexpected Effects on Atmosphere

Earth’s atmosphere reacted in surprising ways to the lowering of emissions during the pandemic, showing how closely climate warming and air pollution are linked.

The most surprising result, the authors noted, is that while carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions fell by 5.4% in 2020, the amount of CO2 in the atmosphere continued to grow at about the same rate as in preceding years. “During previous socioeconomic disruptions, like the 1973 oil shortage, you could immediately see a change in the growth rate of CO2,” said David Schimel, head of JPL’s carbon group and a co-author of the study. “We all expected to see it this time, too.”

Using data from NASA’s Orbiting Carbon Observatory-2 satellite launched in 2014 and the NASA Goddard Earth Observing System atmospheric model, the researchers identified several reasons for this result. First, while the 5.4% drop in emissions was significant, the growth in atmospheric concentrations was within the normal range of year-to-year variation caused by natural processes. Also, the ocean didn’t absorb as much CO2 from the atmosphere as it has in recent years – probably in an unexpectedly rapid response to the reduced pressure of CO2 in the air at the ocean’s surface.

They refuse to accept that the biggest issue with atmospheric temperature that is actually manmade is direct heating.. all our engines and stoves will very slightly raise the temperature of the planet, but its not exponential by any means.

The atmospheric CO2 is postulated to be 414 parts per million or .0414%. Nasa satellites using laser or thermal sensors to determine co2 is junk theoretics… those increases or decreases would be in the noise of the interferents they would have to deal with…

All of that is a better explanation why their data looks screwy than the oceans deciding not to absorb heat or co2 out of fear of coronavirus or something 😂

Basically their data is crap and they have to reverse justify it

Well that and the fact that most all the weather stations are at airports next to hot jet exhausts.
 
Don't pay any attention to the 130 known volcanoes under the arctic ice. Pay no mind to the open pool of lava continuously present in Antarctica. Never mind the 7 volcanoes found in the Indian Ocean when looking for MH370. Italy had major volcanic activities last summer. Iceland has more volcanic activities. The Philippines....the list goes on. No heat being released there. No siree.

today it was announced that to cut carbon emissions in Ireland they are going to …. I kid you not…. slaughter tens of thousands of cows… cause remember, the ultimate goal is to reduce what they feel is overpopulation of the planet…

sea floor spreading......the most significant global geological event.....that isnt in any model because science has yet to quantify.
 
Something that came up when discussing the John Deere electric farm equipment was the farmers asking the question of how they were going to charge the tractor when it was 3 counties away in the middle of nowhere. And how were they going to keep the electric tractor in near continuous operation 24 hours a day when they are trying to get the harvest in before the weather sets in and ruins it. I have said it NUMEROUS times IC Engine power is needed to feed the world, horse and mule agriculture will not feed a global population of 9 billion.

Yeah not for some time now...
In fact, the Civil War was completely unnecessary because mechanized farming would have supplanted slave labor by 1870. A steam tractor with impliments could pick more cotton in a few hours than 100 men could do in a full day. But trying to feed our population without machinery now ain't gonna happen. As Booted points out in post 87 above, YOU ARE THE CARBON THEY WANT TO REDUCE.
