No losing seasons

Only 22 in NFL history with more playoff appearances.

I posted some data a while back. Among winning super bowl coaches, Tomlin's playoff record was something like 23rd out of 25.

He won with Cowher's players, just like Barry Switzer won with Jimmy Johnson's players.

Give it some time ark, the New England won took the stench off the three game losing streak but a loss to New Orleans puts the Steelers in jeopardy of losing the division.

Actually, the players that Tomlin took his first year were a major part of our run to the super bowl in 2010. And we weren't blown out in that game, we were one fumble away from taking the lead.

As I've posted before: That team was still basically Cowher's guys. Just look at the roster:

Offense: Ben, Ward, Randle EL, Miller, Kemoeatu, and even Batch.

Defense: Hampton, Keisel, Farrior, Harrison, McFadden, Taylor, Polamalu, and Clark.

Tomlin's offense guys were bad: Spaeth, Scott, Legursky, Adams

On defense he added: Timmons, Woodley and Gay.

This is 4 years after Cowher left and the major part of the team is still his guys. Right now Tomlin has ONE player from just 5 years ago on his defense... ONE Heyward.

So they were mostly Cowher's players with a couple of decent Tomlin players. That OL was horrible.

Also Mendenfumble was Tomlin's guy.

What about the pick 6?

can't believe we still argue "Cowher's players". I suppose that will continue until we're onto the next coach.

It'll continue until Tomlin does something with his guys. I'm sure the same gets said for Barry Switzer.

It isn't just Switzer. Gruden got lambasted for taking over in TB and winning with another coaches players. Almost everyone on the board said that. Same with Switzer. The difference is that the Steelers don't change coaches. Switzer had one bad year in 4 and was canned. But Tomlin did the exact same thing they did... he just got to stay around longer.

Yep, and Tomlin owes his entire career to him as well. If not for Ben, Tomlin would have been gone a long time ago.

Without rooney stepping in to tell them what the "group decision " was going to be, we dont have Ben

I don't know if that's sarcasm.....

but good.

Don't know, maybe the rooney's bring in someone that is Switzer's clone and by year 4 after Cowher, we had a losing season.

fan flames:

Cowher had a losing season 4 years after his super bowl loss.

2 losing seasons in a row.

How in the hell does that decision have anything to do with Tomlin. Good for the Rooney's, ultimately Tomlin needs to thank them for drafting Ben so that he could keep his job.
