Odds That Rudolph Gets Traded?

Back to the original question Rudolph has little to no trade value in the NFL. He is regarded as a mediocre backup and not near starting ability. A conditional 7th is probably his zenith on a trade. Better QBs are available for free and in trade.

that is what you think. I would say he is an important part of our team until someone offers a 3rd or 4th

There is zero proof that Rudolph is worth even a 7th rounder. No team will give up a 3rd or 4th rounder for the POS keep dreaming. He holds little value to the Steelers, if he plays our season is over.

I'd trade Rudolph only if it brings a starting LT this very season, it doesn't have to be a probowler or something with that pedigree, but a definitive starter in the league.

No 3rd or 4th? then just keep him as a back up. again he adds value in that roll. to trade him for less would be ztupid

The other thing, this is the last year on his contract so it would be better to try to get something instead of letting him walk after the season and getting nothing.

True but to both points, they can hold onto him until the deadline and see if his value spikes
yep. Not to wish injury on anyone but if a starting QB goes down before the deadline or even a solid back up, that would increase MR value

I guess it depends on the size of contract he signs. and who we sign of course

From the irony department

The team that caused so much hatred by a select few here comes to town under the guise of a “preseason game”

We all know DET is simply bringing the whole team down and team jet to scoop up Rudy and take him home to Detroit to properly honor his awesomeness and welcome him to the Lions.

Mason goes out there and lights em up on the field as the trade paperwork is being processed and he jumps onto their team jet and heads back with his new team.
Hopefully Rudy doesn’t blow this deal for us by making DJ and Muth fumble like he did last time🤞 Just leave Decker here for us Detroit while you’re at it…and everyone rejoices…happy ending

For what its worth, the insiders are all saying he is getting trade interest from around the league now…
I would not trade him for anything less than a 3rd or 4th. If a team doesnt answer that then just keep him as our 3rd QB

Sam Darnold carted off for Carolina and they already lost Matt Corrall for the season. They may be in the market.

They really wanted to dump Darnold anyhow… would be weird if they gave up a third or fourth for Mason after giving up a fifth for Baker but utterly hilarious….

Well,Tepper knows Khan. This conversation probably already started.

How about a 6th this year and a 6th next year?

If Darnold is only gone like 4 weeks, tgey will probably just sign the hollowed out shell of cam Newton again… if he is gone longer term, then thats a different kettle of fish

Even with Darnold down a few weeks, and Corral to IR, I seriously doubt the Panthers trade away more assets for a short term backup option. By the time Rudy had the offense at all figured out Sam would be back.

And they also have PJ Walker waiting in the wings as backup…knows the offense and has never lost a game he has started in the NFL. Maybe they bring back Cam if he’s willing to take vet minimum or just go grab someone like Oladokun as an emergency arm.

Sure here is the one article from a Pittsburgh writer.

16) Mason Rudolph, Pittsburgh Steelers

First-round pick Kenny Pickett entered OTAs as the No. 3 QB in Pittsburgh. While his status in the pecking order will eventually change, Rudolph is the likeliest candidate for the No. 2 job in Week 1 behind Mitch Trubisky. Rudolph did a solid job filling in for Ben Roethlisberger over the past three years but is still probably the third-most talented QB on his roster. That said, he’s probably better than the assortment backups on the second half of this list.

11 Mason Rudolph, Pittsburgh Steelers

Rudolph has not wowed, by any means, in his first two seasons as a pro after being drafted in the third round in 2018. He doesn’t have much mobility and often has trouble scrambling out of the pocket and throwing on the run. But, he cracks this list because when it comes to backup talent, many teams in the league would be more than content with Rudolph as their saving grace.

By the numbers, Rudolph has performed as well as a backup would be expected to in the absence of Ben Roethlisberger. In 15 career appearances in the regular season, Rudolph has 62% completion percentage, almost 2,100 passing yards, 15 touchdowns and 10 interceptions. Not great, not horrible. He should have a home as a backup quarterback for some time in this league.
