Penguins Offseason, free agency, moves around the league, all in one thread!

will he be just an ordinary player on another team, is my point.

The grass don't get no greener on the other side of the fence for him, but I can't blame any of these guys for going for the money.

We'll find more.

It doesn't matter who we put with Sid. They will get points. Just ask our rookie. Sheary is benefitting from playing with Sid, not the other way around. Sheary is very replaceable.

We need the D. Spike is right, Dumes is the guy you make sure you keep. If Sheary is trade bait, I'd say, use him.

I want to give Sheary some credit. He did develop some chemistry with Sid and the first line and brought a lot of energy. However, a $4 million player isn't a healthy scratch in the playoffs and produces more than 7 points in 22 games.

Sheary deserves credit. That Sid and the kids run was exciting hockey. The physical nature of the playoffs neutralized Sheary's game. Imo, he would've had better results vs a team like the rangers rather than CBJ, Wash or Nashville.

Not worth $4mil but his services will be hard to duplicate for what he brought in his small stature

No news is good news

Rutherford has said multiple times that a trade is the route they're headed. They don't anticipate signing anyone.

then there's this

'Unlike a lowB repuS, you can't cheat your way to a Stanley Cup!'

So, Brooks Laich married Julianne Hough over the weekend. Not that one is related to another, but he's still on the market as a UFA. He could be a low-cost, 4th line center. He showed flashes in WASH and played on a upstart TOR team. I don't know what he has left in the tank, but could be a 1 or 2 year stopgap at 34 y.o.

Steelers and Pirates touched the SC and had pics taken. I don't know why this is such a story. Only because he's a Patriot and is Tom Brady?

No, i didn't. I don't twitter. It was on msn and people were flipping out because he touched the Cup, cursed the Pens, etc.

hoping for a smooth transition. Good luck, Rick. Maybe the Pens can meet the Yotes in the SCF in a year or two. . .

Recchi's a good man...and will step right in..

Once again the best Sports organization in the Burgh...doesn't miss a beat!

They're like a good Timex.....

Love Recchi. Welcome to the Burg! Congrats to Tocchet on his new coaching gig. I used to watch a ton of games when these 2 played together for the Flyers in the early 90s

Happy for both Tocchet and Recchi.
AZ has a gem.
I think Recchi will offer a similar demeanor.

The only reason I would think about moving The Thrill is cap space and/or filling needs on the team. The problem is his salary and length. Also, I don't see a reason to move him now. He's still a viable scoring threat. I think it's just conversation on a slow news day.

I'd move him if it meant getting Duchene.

I like Kessel and hope to see him around a couple more years, but the contract is a bit of a concern and there has been a TON of smoke around the Pens moving him. Do you make a move now as he's coming off two titles, including one playoff run in which he could have been named MVP? Do you try one more time to try to get three in a row and then make a move? It'll be interesting to see what happens on this front over the next couple of seasons.

Do you trade him now while he still holds value? The Steelers are pretty good at not holding onto players too long. Do the Pens? If they wait a few seasons. how much will he decline? There's mixed reports out there what the team and players think of him. Only the FO and locker room knows the truth how they really feel about #81. Three in a row is hard and while they have a shot, should they be pro-active and set-up for not only the up-coming season, but solidify the future? Tough questions you have asked, but interesting, nonetheless. As the cliche goes, it takes two teams to tango. I'm wondering how hard it is to move him, if they go that route.

Pens gave Pouliot and Archibald 1 way deals today. Hope that doesn't mean they are thinking they are gonna lose Dumo and Sheary.

I think those are depth moves Sarge. I still resign Dooms. Sheary, I'm fine with him leaving or staying. Though I don't want to break the bank on him.

Moving Kessel is ******* dumb. Remember grabbing guys like Hossa, and Iginla? ******* studs right? They **** the bed on this team. I'd take Kessel's actual production over chasing another pipe-dream questionmark. I don't even move Kessel for Duchene. Why? Because Duchene isn't close to being Conn Smythe caliber yet...
