Penguins *******!

both are FA and will not be back. Martin said he will test FA and Erhoff is becoming a $4M dud. Seemed like a great deal at the time, but he's OK, at best. Would rather see Harrington play. Bring all of WBS up. They can't do much worse. Besides Hornquist, I don't care who is here next year.

Keep hearing about all the talent in WBS, yet amazingly none of them can seem to break the line-up ahead of this group of duds. Perhaps they aren't that good. If it is me, I start next season with Mataa, Letang, Scuderi (I guess) Pouliot, Cole, and either Harrington or Dumolin. Send Lovejoy to Toronto. He'll fit right in.

Also, I am hoping Kapanen and Sundqvist are part of next year's plans. Need some fresh blood that hasn't been tainted by the current stench that is the Pens.

Sadly, the talent in WBS is few and far between. They may be good at the AHL level and work well as a team, but they have a lot of 3rd and 4th line caliber players. Matt Murray may become MAF's replacement. He's having a very good and surprising year. Shero and Rutherford has made our minor league crop extremely weak.

I was referring mainly to the defensive end. I mean, there's Harrington, Dumolin, and well, that is it. Not much to choose from. Trading Despres and even Samuelsson is looking dumber and dumber by the day.

If I am Rutherford, I trade Crosby for the #1 pick. Throw in Perron or Pouliot or anyone to get that pick. Bring in McDavid. One can dream, right?

This is hilarious.
You guys are melting down.

Relax.
You'll make the playoffs.

just like the team.

Unless they back their way into the playoffs, they very well could miss them. Right now, I will not be shocked. Not at all!

The Pens are simply not a very good team right now and not well coached either. Problem is that they have two of the best players in the league and been pissing away the last few seasons.

how much you wanna bet the Flyers lay down and tank it against the Sens?

and the Rangers just wrapped up the president's trophy - they can sit all their starters and let the Sens win too

I'm just looking at the Isles and Sabres games remaining. Two teams that will want to help knock the Pens out. We can worry about the Sens all we want, but if we can't hold a lead or comeback in the 3rd, it will not matter. The Sabres may be the game to circle because we can't beat NYI. Sad we will depend on beating the worst team in the NHL to sneak in.

The Isles game will be on the NHL channel - so I have that to look forward to

No, the Pens have melted down. Have you seen their record for the last month? 4 wins, with the last one coming on March 29. The wins include 2 shootout wins over the Sharks, 1 against the Yotes and a 1-0 OT victory over the Kings back on March 7. They're done. Even if the ineptitude of the bottom seeds of the East somehow allow them to stumble into the playoffs, they're still done.

It's Playoff time... almost. Plenty of room on the Wild's bandwagon. Great spot clinching game last night against the Blackhawks. Way to get it done.

Lot to like about Mike Yeo's team. The play of one Devan Dubnyk, simply solid. NHL Best Penalty Kill, Zack Parise so consistently scoring. 11 game road winning streak going on. Playing well on the road is critical in the playoffs.

Go Wild!

I'm getting a Ducks jersey

Any guesses on who the Coach is next year? Maybe Mario needs to step up.

Their collapse is ridiculous, but based on having a worse team than last year, they looked like they'd be a four and out before the season began, IMO. Now if they make it, it'd be stunning if they win a game. Rutherford not only didn't clean up what Shero did, but made a bigger mess. No way that both the coach and GM can survive.

Also, I would absolutely HATE if they even considered trading Malkin or Crosby. There is a lot more dead weight that can go before even considering moving either player.

JUST like I perdicted would happen - the media mouthpieces have their orders, start up the excuse train - toot toot

Penguins GM: Coach Johnston has done 'very good job

Penguins general manager Jim Rutherford doesn't like the term “vote of confidence,” but he has liked the job Mike Johnston and the team's coaching staff has done, even though a late-season slump has darkened the team's playoff chances.

“He's done a very good job with what he's had to work with,” Rutherford said Wednesday. “Given all the injured players and difficult circumstances, we've been very happy with the job that Mike and his staff have done getting the team to the cusp of the playoffs.”

“I've heard that term because I follow sports, but I don't like it. You can say you give a guy a vote of confidence, but it doesn't amount to a hill of beans,” Rutherford said. “He's done a good job under difficult circumstances and still has gotten us to 96 points and given us a chance to get into the playoffs here in the last couple of games.”

If Rutherford throws his HC under the bus for what he has to work with, he would be criticizing himself, too. Bylsma got this team into the PO w/o his top two centers against the Lightning. Sure, they lost in the first round, but he had to work with a lot less than MJ has. This team has been a mess since December.

yeah - they would have to admit they made a mistake in hiring these guys - that will never happen

media has their marching orders from the front office - full blown damage control mode

Josh Yohe @JoshYohe_Trib - If you think the Pens are freefalling because Simon Despres isn't on the team, you aren't seeing the big picture.

Stan is my new hero...going off on the Pens, Lovejoy and Sutter, basically calling them worthless...he nailed it too...Sid gets his nads whacked and not a single player stood up for him

awesome stuff...

Scoreboard watching time

Rangers sitting their stars against the Sens

@PLeonardNYDN
Staal, Nash and Zuccarello are getting the night off. Klein skated on his own again but isn't playing #NYR

Hope Boston and Ottawa lose tonight. That loser point we got could save us.

Ottawa v. Rangers - An Ottawa regulation loss means we only need 1 point this weekend to clinch regardless of what any other team does. If Ottawa wins and we don't get 1 point against the Islanders there is a chance we could be eliminated before even playing the Buffalo game since Ottawa/Philly is 12:30 on Saturday.

Detroit v. Montreal - Detroit can clinch a playoff spot with a win. A loss keeps it open.

Isles can clinch a spot even being idle - meaning likely they would likely rest some players against us tomorrow
