Kenyan Lawyer Wants Obama Daughter’s Hand In Marriage – And What He’s Offering is Well… Different
BY JUSTEN CHARTERS (1 HOUR AGO) | NATION, WEIRD NEWS, WORLD

Malia Obama may only be sixteen years old, but that’s not stopping one Kenyan lawyer from seeking her hand in marriage.

Felix Kiprono, the lawyer, has been interested in Malia for a while… and when President Obama arrives in Kenya in July, he has a big proposal for him.

Yahoo! News reported on what Kiprono is going to offer for Malia Obama:

Felix Kiprono said he was willing to pay 50 cows, 70 sheep and 30 goats in order to fulfil his dream of marrying the first daughter. “I got interested in her in 2008,” Kiprono said, in an interview with The Nairobian newspaper.

At that time President Obama was running for office for the first time and Malia was a 10-year-old. “As a matter of fact, I haven’t dated anyone since and promise to be faithful to her. I have shared this with my family and they are willing to help me raise the bride price,” he said.
Kiprono also shrugged off assertions that he was just after the Obama fortune:

People might say I am after the family’s money, which is not the case. My love is real. I am currently drafting a letter to Obama asking him to please have Malia accompany him for this trip. I hope the embassy will pass the letter to him. I will hand it over to the US Ambassador with whom we have interacted several times.
As for what he’d do if Malia for some reason accepted his one in a million billion trillion offer:

If my request is granted, I will not resort to the cliche of popping champagne. Instead, I will surprise her with mursik, the traditional Kalenjin sour milk. As an indication that she is my queen, I will tie sinendet, which is a sacred plant, around her head. I will propose to her on a popular hill in Bureti near my father’s land where leaders and warriors are usually crowned. The place is called Kapkatet, which means ‘victory’, adding, “ours will be a simple life. I will teach Malia how to milk a cow, cook ugali and prepare mursik like any other Kalenjin woman.

In Kenya, a young boy looks after his tribe’s cows.
Then, Kiprono explained the kind of lifestyle he and Malia would have if his longshot-dowry was accepted:

Kiprono said that as a couple he and the young Obama would lead “a simple life”.

“I will teach Malia how to milk a cow, cook ugali (maize porridge) and prepare mursik like any other Kalenjin woman,” he said.
In Kenya, wedding dowries are common, as it’s seen as a rite of passage through the family. According to Time, the price of the bride is the equivalent of five years of the groom’s salary. Looks promising.

I hope he gets his wish.

I'd be happy to add a few cows to the pile.

Maybe SDS can pass along a couple sheep and goats that he's "finished" with?

Shouldn't this be a Kickstarter thingy so we can all help this guy out?

GCS is a lawyer in Kenya?

I'm sure he has. The Secret Service might be interacting with him too although he doesn't know it.

I think it's a sweet and heart-felt offer.

My niece is in a military unit and her commanding officer was offered a camel and 2 goats for her. If she'd been blonde instead of brunette, she may have been worth TWO camels, or perhaps a horse. Sadly she was forced to decline. I blame much of the unrest in the middle east on her.
